“the graduate” was defining... it helped define the incremental social creep the left has perpetrated on the US since the 60s and before.

isn’t it great to hold up in acclaim the cheating values of a wife and the willingness of a son’s best friend to accommodate those desires.

if no one informed you before, the media is one of the devices the left uses to push their ideology on those unwilling to accept their rubbish in conversation. you see, the media is strictly one-way... they don’t have to answer to anyone. they realized they could push their drivel to an audience unaware that they are being hit with non-stop social programming.

and if you have lost sight of it.. there is a difference between right and wrong. a woman cheating on her husband would be wrong, by all moral and legal definitions.... ‘reverend’. it is not ‘enlightening’ nor ‘amusing’ to ponder the possibilities. such people should be less selfish and get a divorce before straying.

Personally When I meet clergy, I throw in a religious joke.

If they laugh but maintain their faith I am impressed.
Those that give me the evil eye strike me as being without a sense of balance.

The only thing more absurd than having a religious faith is having none. But then, I do think the currency of the Universe is absurdity. If it makes sense, Reality eschews it.

And why shouldn’t it?

Well said!

I tried one time to watch South Park, some time back, after some FReepers went on about it on a thread. I could not get past the crudity, and I am pretty sure I did not even make it to 30 seconds. Not my kind of humor.

When it comes to Scientology, Islam etc. there is not much left to do but feel sad. They are frauds, not religions. All the mockery that South Park can cough up won’t cover the sick reality. As far as having a sincere, faith based relationship with your Creator, I don’t see a thing humorous about that even if they do. I can be laughed at, I’ll even be glad to be a fool for my faith.

I used to feel the same way as Rev Kevin, just taking them mocking Christianity in stride. When I saw the episode where the image of Mohammad was censored out, the story line was because Mohammad was shown on tv, Al Qaeda created their own cartoon and had Jesus Christ and President Bush crapping on each other and the American Flag. After that, I simply dont watch it any more, nor will that show be watched in my house by anyone. It is possible to step over the line. After South Park packaged and marketed a product (their tv show) that had Jesus and President Bush defecating on each other and the American Flag, I am no longer a customer of said product.

I got my husband, the rabbi, hooked on “South Park.” He gets a kick out of the Brovlofsky family because Kyle’s dad reminds him of some guy he knows in real life.

I can’t think of any episode where “South Park” ridicules Judaism, “Jewbilee” was probably the closest—that was a funny episode, but not one of the greatest.

I never saw that before! Thanks! I have heard that one of the reasons Trey and Matt hit it off so well is that they discovered they were both Monty Python fans. :)

As a Christian myself, I can definitely understand not being amused by that scene. And it may be that they stepped over the line. You probably understand this, but I'm going to bring it up anyway, for the benefit of others reading: with that scene South Park was trying to point out the absurdity of Comedy Central allowing them to show things that vile, but not allowing them to even show Mohammed knocking on the door in a very ordinary setting. Mocking Christianity wasn't the point; mocking cowardice and political correctness was.

"It sounds like you didn’t get the point of that show."

Ya, maybe not, I was busy in the house and I missed a great deal of it. I know allot of it was a shot at Comedy Central, as they censored the image of Mohammad, but did care if Jesus and President Bush defecated on the US flag.

And maybe Im still missing a huge point of that episode, but it irritate me greatly to see that. I used to really like the show. Seeing Cartman as an exterminator checking houses for hippie infestations was a riot. I loved him as Dawg the Bounty Hunter and doing the Jack character from 24 too. I liked the 911 Truther episode allot.

I later was feeling poorly towards the show as I started getting tired of the anti-religious trend they wouldn't let go of. I started turning the channel when they just wouldn't let it go, just getting "preachy" with it. Then the for mentioned show aired, and I got mad at them and Im still not over it.

Maybe I did miss the point of the show, and I must admit I hate it that they did what they did. They are a couple of funny guys, and some of their stuff can be a roaring knee slapper. So I hate it that they just are so eager to offend those people that hold certain things about this County and its traditional heritage sacred. I wish I could enjoy the show, but not if I am going to walk into the living room and see Jesus and President Bush defecating on each other and the American Flag. As you mentioned, I may have missed the point, but that really ticked me off.
