Did you watch the 2nd Presidential debate?
Foreign policy is critical. And one the most critical linchpins of foreign policy is the United States relationship with Israel.
That's why it was downright scary to hear Barack Obama's response to a simple question. That question, paraphrased, was "Would you defend Israel without a UN mandate?"
John McCain's answer was clear and unequivocal. Of course he would. Israel is our strongest friend.
Obama's answer? A "nuanced" string of suppositions and what if's. A meandering evasion. A non-committal response. A respect for the United Nations, but not for Israel.
My friends (*drink*), if there ever is a President Obama every nation that hates Israel...and there are many of them...will be standing in line to do their worst secure in the knowledge that President Barack Hussein Obama will not unilaterally commit the might and muscle of the United States of America to help.
It goes no further. Our troops volunteer to defend America, not Israel. We have no right to ask them to anything else.
If that's the scenario, then yes, Israel will be okay in the long run. But there will be a lot of pain and suffering.
For someone with the name you use here, your stance is curious.
Germany might have won two world wars if we'd listened to people like you....
I have a Book close at hand that says this will indeed happen. Coincidence?
How so? Poland was under a threat itself. We are not under any threat from Iran. It’s sad if they move against Israel, but it’s not a threat to us.
Defending America often means defending American interests. For example, if some nation determined that they were going to invade every oil producing nation (or enough to gain control of the oil market) then it would be in our national interest to do something about it.
Keep telling yourself that.
Um, we were attacked at Pearl Harbor and then Germany declared war against us.
As for WWI, it’s pretty clear we should’ve steered clear of that European war.
So where does Israel fit into your scenario?
You can guarantee McCain won Florida after that one plus others.
McCain should win other states with Jewish-American voters like OH, PA, NJ (I am not kidding) and maybe even NY.
Israel is on it’s own if Obama becomes President.
I am not Jewish but I am alarmed.
Barry will be working on Israel’s surrender at the UN. He does mention how Islamic prayers in the morning (over loud speakers) in Indonesia are among the most beautiful sounds he has ever heard.
Which?
“A meandering evasion. A non-committal response. A respect for the United Nations, but not for Israel.”
That Obama would even mention “respect for the United Nations” as part of his response to a question concerning defending Israel without a UN mandate shows that: either he has NO intention or defending Israel, or he is an even bigger ignoramus than I’ve thought from the first.
I don’t won’t throw out an incorrect percentage, but some incredible percentage of the UN General Assembly resolutions passed, and those introduced in the Security Council but usually vetoed by the US, are resolutions condemning Israel. That body of petty monarchs, dictators, presidents for life and other assorted thugs would never pass any mandate to defend Israel.
It's too early to tell...but what's going to be will be...
Busy? Can’t follow? Which?
I answered to your post to me...you can click it to reference if need be.
I just explained how a) Poland was threatened by Turkey while b) we are not threatened by an Iranian threat to Israel.
The Tartars were already living within POland’s borders. We have no threat from Iran in America.
So what is the threat to US if Iran moves against Israel?
Oh, I forgot that the Germans invaded the US....
They are an ally whose interests often coincide with out own. They often act as our proxies and vice versa in regional conflicts. For example, in 1981 they took out a nuclear reactor in Iraq that set back Iraq's weapons development. They are a check for the spread of radical Islam.
The day that Obama turns his back on Israel (or even sends troops to support the Palis) will be the day of “G*d damn America”, but not for the reasons that “Reverend” Wright had given. Nothing inflammatory, it’s all given in the Abrahamic covenant.
