Mark Sanford Is A Disgrace

What is it about politicians these days?

Is there some sort of magic elixir in the air that allows these people—regardless of political affiliation--the license to insult the intelligence of their citizens? Or is this some sort of natural “human flaw” that we—the idiots of the proletariat—are supposed to accept as some sort of acceptable characteristic of the people that are supposed to “represent us?”

Give me a freaking break.

If my narrative is false, it surely is attracting lots of readers who, apparently—and according to your comments—are lost in a political wilderness of confusion and misinformation.

Nevertheless, your illogical insinuations are an annoying red herring to the crux of the matter presented: that being that leaders should not be liars and adulturers.

If MSNBC thinks the same on this matter (and I would not know since I do not often read the Pinko press), then so be it.

The harems in ancient times were to create political ties through “marriage.” I doubt Solomon, etc., ever touched most of their wives. Which reminds me of the kid who wrote: Solomon had five wives and 900 porcupines.

start taking these key Republicans that defame and disgrace the Party out to a tall oak tree and hang them .

I am sick of hearing their lame excuses .

leaders should not be liars and adulterers.

Obviously, no they should not, but they sometimes are, and always will till the end of time.

There is no need to fret endlessly about a fact of Sanford's life in which we had no control. Especially now when we need our wits about us to defeat the men who steal our very liberty and our livelihoods, for generations to come.

What does conservatism have to do with Sanford's love/sex life?

Do you think lying, cheating, and not being honorable are part of conservative principles?

you know damn well no one on FR thinks conservatives should lie and cheat.

There *your* words above, not mine.

So what is your story? What is your goal here?

Nice try, but I'm not the issue here.

"Solomon had five wives and 900 porcupines."

I hope you're just "poking" fun.

Set all the morals aside; from the pragmatic point of view this is still an outrage. Men who lie to and cheat on their wives will treat their constituents at least as poorly. Moreover they are at risk for blackmail. They must not be allowed to hold ANY political office. I wouldn’t hire one either.

Are you for real or is this some sort of political bait?

So, are we to understand that since—from time immemorial—men have been devious and deceptive (and for which we have no control), we should just accept it in order to achieve a greater good?

The power to change things for the better is premised on not accepting the bad that often—whether we like it or not—is produced.

I, for one, cannot defend moral weakness in order to justify protecting the moral high ground for generations to come. The thought is, not only illogical, but intellectually ridiculous.

Be realistic. It could be worse. He could have kept it under wraps, never dealt with it, never tried to make things right with his family, and never tried to face the public in the process just as many politicans are doing at this moment. People who are really down on him need to understand that he is human and humans make mistakes. Before you judge him, ask yourself if you had the power to do what he did and not get caught, would you do it?

You certainly are the issue...why this pretense of not understanding that Sanford’s sex life has ZERO to do with Conservatism?

Tell me what you think...why is Sanford’s behavior a reflection on Conservatism?

Is there a Conservative policy or edict or orthodoxy that demands such behavior?

Explain yourself please.

LOL! This is the pinnacle of hypocrisy...

If this were some commie leftist like Polosi, or Obama instead of Sanford, the freaking house would come down.

Our leaders and wealthy elite in this country make me sick. The corrupt leadership, Wallstreet, and the well connected banksters have drivin this country into an economic ditch. Did you see hundreds of these wealthy corrupt, insiders and the politically connected resign in shame and disgrace, as they made billions while the economy burned?

Hell no.

Ok, now we are getting somewhere....how could you/we have changed or controlled the behavior of this man, this stranger? It is a given that it is not "acceptable"...I am sure his wife told him that too, something being unacceptable does not mean it will never occur.

How can we control, change or prevent a future pol from having an affair?

Other than threats of eternal damnation, shunned, shamed, being fired, or even killed back in the “olden” days? All these devises have been in place for centuries.

And men/women still cheat on each other, it is another sad fact of life.

You can bet.

In addition, if he was flying to foreign country, setting himself up for blackmail etc, no doubt on tax paid funds, and possibly under and assumed name, (Felony) there is no doubt more dirt under this guys finder nails.

Yes or no?

And stop attempting to make me the issues and answer the question.

WHY do you feel the need to exaggerate or give the worst possible scenario’s. Looking at the hand you are dealing here, your nails appear intentionally dirty.

For someone that lies and cheats, are these not possibilities? From my experience, those that lie and cheat at this level, generally have patterns of dishonesty, bad character and are less than honorable in the course of their professional careers.

In addition, the man could have very well been blackmailed while in a foreign country, or in downtown Boston. Wouldn't be the first time some high roller or someone well connected was video tapped in a hotel room, and severely blackmailed.
