President Obama awkwardly attempted to backpedal from his statement that police had "acted stupidly" in arresting his friend and Harvard Professor, Henry Louis Gates, Jr. Obama made the comment at his recent press conference, making his "acted stupidly" remark after admitting that he wasn't familiar with the facts of the case.

I guess Professor Gates was expressing 'hate speech' against a white police officer (and the officer's Mom) per the legal definition.
So we’re right back to the early days of obama’s administration when we had to wait for a re-spin to hear what he (or some tax-cheating member of his administration) “really meant” when they put their foot in their mouth.
The race bating bigot profiles a white police officer without knowing the facts and then claims it’s a “teaching moment?” It’s all insanity and we put up with it ... stupidity?
If he had done his little insincere back-pedal farce and then shut his piehole he may have actually set things in motion for him to slide out from under the crap he stirred up yesterday.
But no; he kept on talking and attempted to leave some of the blame on the Cambridge Policeman by saying they BOTH overreacted.
If the audio tapes of the incident are released, as I pray that they soon are, it will be shown the the filthy-mouthed professor is the ONLY one who overreacted; and at that point, Obozo will once again have his tit in the wringer!

To anyone who watched the entire spectacle, the beauty of this entire fiasco is that the question was clearly a plant. Obama stated something to the effect that he would take “one more question before wrapping up the event” and then selected a Chicago reporter - the entire thing was clearly set up. Obama thought he could use the bully pulpit to belittle the police officer and push his own racist agenda. Sadly for him, he picked the wrong police officer and (not surprisingly) his “friend” is a complete race-baiting jack*ss who is hardly a sympathetic character in this entire fiasco. Obama went off script once too often and, this time, even his biased press corps couldn’t cover for him. Everytime he speaks without his telepromptor he reveals more and more of his true character and people aren’t liking what they are seeing in Mr. “Hope and Change.”

I agree with you and have been thinking the same thing. This reporter was from the Chicago Tribune — and to go so far off the presser subject I think surprised everyone — but not Obama — he was ready (or so he thought).
Did he look at any notes at all? I didn’t notice.
What’s funny is that fellow who stood up in error with a question could have thrown the timing of the whole “set up” off.
