Sim City 4 Deluxe edition

Has anyone tried this game SimCity4 Deluxe Edition?? I know its old and has a lot of devoted fans at certain cult-like websites. I have always wanted to try this game but I never got around to it.

There seem to be a few "free download" sites but these cannot be legal, IMO. I want to buy it so I can feel a bit like a liberal and I am put into total control of their teeny virtual world!

*evil laugh*

Seriously though, has anyone tried it?

If it’s old enough you should be able to find a legit legal copy pretty cheaply either via amazon or even Walmart/Fred Meyer/Best Buy budget bins.

If nothing else can go to http://www.direct2drive.com/ though I think their prices are high.

Personally, I think you should try Age of Empires. When I get down conquering ancient civilizations always cheers me up.

Its quite fun. Of course, you have to apply the LAFFER CURVE to your taxation policies.

If you get the game, download the Network Addon Mod (NAM), it lets you fool around with the traffic system and add a bit more realism.

The major downside was the traffic was unrealistic - the road systems in real life can support way more traffic than the game does. The NAM fixes that, and adds some flexibility to roadmaking (which I always enjoy).

I’m kind of obsessed, I have a multiscreen setup and when I played a lot, I had google earth on one side and SC4 on the other, trying to duplicate real places.

Yeah I did. When playing I went to the birth registrars office (just to look around) and it wouldn’t let me in.

I’ve got Sim City 3000 deluxe. It hates me because I refuse to raise taxes or make my city a smoke-free, no-nuke wussy world.

It’s really fun to raise your sim’s tax rates and then limit their health care coverage

Fun game. How realistic is it? Play it for 30 minutes and you’ll have more executive experience than Obama had before he was elected to the presidency.

You should just try World or Warcraft (WoW) and just get it over with. Lol You can kill and break things with that one.

Oh yeah, I’ve played the heck out of some SimCity 4! Great game. I’ve managed to get my cities mostly crime-free, lowest possible tax rates, and a population so big that even my (at-the-time) monster computer was chugging just moving from screen to screen.

I highly recommend it!

Counquering is fun too. Maybe someone can come up with an add-on that lets 2 cities go to war?

I always liked the SimCity line of games.
You could also try Half.com and eBay, in addition to the other suggestions.

I don't just want to break things, I'll probably get a wargame too.

I want to build things

I will look around. I will not risk a virus by downloading illegal copies
