Nothing beats that dead Washington Post columnist - - an avid “gun control” pantload - - who shot a teenager for swimming in his pool.

I can remember when this man:

Fired a handgun at a suspected intruder.

Problem was this man was Carl Rowan, liberal columnist and anti-handgun absolutist.

Those were the days when the MSM had a hammerlock on stories and 'the truth' but Rowan's hypocrisy stunk so bad it even permeated the MSM's storm windows.

Interesting.

NRA has given him an “A” in 2004, 2006, and 2008.

Makes me wonder about one rating over the other.

I remember that incident well. In a city that banned possession of handguns, Rowan used a .22 revolver to shoot a teenager who was sneaking into his backyard pool to swim at night. Then, he tried to claim the revolver wasn’t his, and claimed it belonged to his son who was an FBI agent at the time. Rowan and son claimed it was his “service revolver.” Yep. That story had all the flight characteristics of a brick, and nearly cost the younger Rowan his career.

"Then, he tried to claim the revolver wasn’t his, and claimed it belonged to his son who was an FBI agent at the time."

Were FBI agents allowed to own handguns and the rest of the populace in DC not at the time? I thought no one was allowed to own a handgun in DC from 1975 up until last year with Heller. It could not have been claimed as his service revolver. No one in their right mind would have a .22 as a service revolver...

You should. NRA has developed a very bad reputation among the RKBA crowd about it's inside politics backdoor closed room dealings.

It is the primary reason local and national splinter groups made up of the OTHER 76 million US gunowners have sprung up everywhere from JPFO to GOA to SAF et.al.

I would always trust the locals rating over the NRA. In this particular instance the local GRNC scrutinizes the ENTIRE voting record of candidates rather than just one or two high profile votes.

National Magazine Gunwriter David Codrea explains his problems with the NRA well:

Had to read the headline twice. RC? Is that a cola?

And the excerpt was zero help.

Here you go:

*****************

Here we go again!

Raleigh Constitutent alerts us to another Democrat hypocrite armed with a firearm who defends himself after a career of gun control advocacy. So Senator, is your life worth more than We, The Peasants?

As posted on the in- state 2nd Amendment Civil Rights Organization Grass Roots North Carolina website 2008 Voter Evaluation Guide Senator Soles voting record on the Right To Keep And Bear Arms was evaluated at *ONE* Star.

Now, it could have been worse, most diehard Democrats in North Carolina are proud of their *ZERO* star rating. It remains unknown as to how many of them own home defense firearms.

Tantalizing Story Excerpt:
Sen. R.C. Soles shoots one of two home intruders

Published: Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 9:11 p.m.
Last Modified: Sunday, August 23, 2009 at 9:11 p.m.
Sen. R.C. Soles shot one of two people who were breaking into his home about 5 p.m. Sunday, officials said.

Columbus County Sheriff Chris Batten said Kyle Blackburn was taken to Loris Community Hospital in South Carolina, though he did not know the extent of his injuries.

"It could not have been claimed as his service revolver. No one in their right mind would have a .22 as a service revolver..."

That's why the dope nearly blew his career out the window. He procured the weapon for his father in violation of federal and DC law. Not unduly burdened by the gift of intelligence, a severe lapse in judgment followed in trying to cover for his old man's crime and his by claiming it was his issued weapon, left behind at his father's home. Yep, that went over big with the boys at the Bureau.

That should be the only service sidearm this bozo is allowed to carry, a .22 revolver. Let’s hope he has to go up against a fully armed drug dealer some day.

Please take the comment constructively. As an RKBA supporter I think the information you seek to convey is critical. Clarity of communication is essential, though, and this is especially true on a topic such as this.

So, stories should have headlines that aren’t confusing (and I realize you didn’t write the headline, but still some clarity is helpful). And if you must excerpt, make the excerpt reasonably informative.

Now, keep up the good work but, please, a little info.

Thanks, and here is your requested info. You want serious? This is serious. Of all the people on Free Republic, you should be one of the few who understand the seriousness of it all.

You "slurped" the entire contents of a blog post because you were unhappy with the "fair use" excerpt for reasons known best to yourself.

Think of all the problems Free Republic has had with copyright over the years and explain how "slurping" is a good thing.

If you are confused by what I say read this: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1111944/posts

Moderators have been known to rap the knuckles of people who tried to circumvent the fair use excerpt rules by posting full content as a message in a thread.

So the only question that remains: Will you press the abuse button and turn yourself in for a copyright infringement or will you wait for someone else on this thread to do it for you?

Best regards,
