What do all these people have in common?
Mark Levin
Sean Hannity
Tom Sullivan
Matt Drudge
Roger Hedgecock
Glenn Beck
Answer: They've all had their careers assisted by Rush Limbaugh. Levin, Hannity, Drudge, Sullivan, Hedgecock - have all filled in for Rush. Rush grants interviews to both Glenn and Sean. Why? Surely Rush doesn't need the publicity... And surely it helps the "others" more than it helps Rush.
Actually it's very...

Those guys have Rush’s FBI file?
LOL! Not bad :)

Without reading the entire thing I’m guessing its because Rush believes what he says and wants as many people spreading conservative ideals as possible.
Competition has little to do with it.
It just blows a hole in the argument of the left that Rush is an egomaniac. It’s just too bad that the RINO Party in DC has never followed the true conservatism that Rush dishes out every day. Our Republican morons have sold us out.
Rush is in a position where he doesn’t have any competition.
He is smart enough to know that if the conservative base grows, so grows his audience.
If he helps others see the light he won’t get them all to listen to him but he’ll get more than his share. cause he’s GOOD.
And he’ll get many who oppose him and his views just to see what he has to say.
“Why does Rush help his Competition?”
Because, in reality, Rush has no competition.
One thing I would like to see is for all these guys to stop competing for air time.
The most obvious example is Levin/Beck.
Why don’t they all band together and crush this oppressive regime? Yes, they are all against it. Yes, they all rail against it. Yea, Savage is on the fringe. You could say the same for Beck and Levin. However, if they would all band together, as one voice, backing each others opinions, what a beautiful world it would be!
Why has Rush been helping other talk show hosts? It adds another division in the ideological war.
BTW, I use the term division in a battlefield organizational sense.
Rush does take time off. He does need someone to cover for him. He can't play re-runs the entire time. That it helps these guys to cover for Rush may have nothing to do with whether Rush wishes to help these guys or not.
I happened to listen to his response to a caller who asked Rush how he chose those who would cover for him. Basically, Rush said he merely looked for someone with a conservative outlook and who could competently do the job. He didn't mention anything about wanting to help these guys.
Unfortunately, Rush also saddled us with the intolerable Michael Medved.
Rush is the best. I do like his fill-ins though as well. Mark Steyn is great.
I loved Sagan’s Cosmos series (though I didn’t really like Sagan’s social causes, when he stuck to describing true science he was great). However, I will never forgive him for failing during that great series, to invite other scientists similarly good at describing science, to join him in getting “face time”, so those men/women would get credibility and then get invited to shows such as the Tonight Show, and other times that the science of an event needed to be explained. It was an extreme lack of insight and a major failure of his. He could easily have “cloned himself” by doing that, and it would have cost him nothing.
Rush has been cloning himself, and some of the other talk show hosts have contined that process. The result is not a depreciation in the value of the first person, but instead an enhancement of their reach and reputation.
A good lesson for managers and others who are able to hear.
How much more rewarding can it be than to have a protege do well?
Think of Roy Clark and how many careers he launched.
Rush ain’t all about Rush as some people think.
Because someday he’s going to be REALLY OLD!!!
Maybe Rush helps other conservatives radio careers because he loves American and knows that conservatism helps America.
Maybe it is not money or prestige or clout.
Maybe it is about America.
Rush knows lying thuggy totalitarian dems will come for him some day - and there will be a need for strong voices to standing for freedom.
“...why does Rush help the competition?”
Perhaps he believes what he says and figures that more voices can only help?
Just speculating.
Rush would have made a very effective teacher..He is able to take complex issues and make them simple. He has a vast grasp of the issues inside the larger scheme of things.
He can transmit the knowledge with wit and passion.
He is at heart a mentor in the best sense of the word.
No mentor begrudges their student being able to move out on their own.
Besides he cares about conservatism and conservative principals , competition makes all competitors better and ultimately the consumer gets the best product.
They ALL make him look good.
He’s the best, and then there is all the rest.
