The Coming Storm - State Sovereignty
MyFreePress ^ | 11/10/2009 | jrieder

We are on the edge of a vast storm that is blowing wind in all directions. The winds are blowing dangerous objects all about like a many headed hydra; Healthcare Reform, Card Check, Financial Industry takeover, GM takeover, Stimulus Bill, Cap and Trade, earmarks. We are all concerned about our safety and our future, especially the future of our loved ones. We are beginning to see that the one thing that was constructed to save us (the U.S. Constitution) has been distorted, manipulated and ignored. The federal government which was sworn to uphold and protect that construction has morphed into a corrupt, concealed and dangerous body. Alarmed and outraged, We The People are running around chasing the many heads of this hydra. But it seems that each day a new one grows. It also seems that some of these heads are empty threats designed to misdirect us, and confuse and anger us.

Increasing Number of States Declaring Sovereignty

Kurt Nimmo
Infowars
February 5, 2009

--snip--

In the case of a growing number of U.S. states, however, it is not so much economic decline and moral degradation pointing the way to a “disintegration,” but rather violations of the Tenth Amendment. The Tenth Amendment of the United States Constitution, which is part of the Bill of Rights, was ratified on December 15, 1791, and states restates the Constitution’s principle of Federalism by providing that powers not granted to the national government nor prohibited to the states are reserved to the states and to the people. It is based on an earlier provision of the Articles of Confederation: “Each state retains its sovereignty, freedom, and independence, and every power, jurisdiction, and right, which is not by this Confederation expressly delegated to the United States, in Congress assembled.”

Although Fox News and CNN are not telling you about it, a growing number of states are declaring sovereignty. Washington, New Hampshire, Arizona, Montana, Michigan, Missouri, Oklahoma, California, and Georgia have all introduced bills and resolutions declaring sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment. Colorado, Hawaii, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Idaho, Indiana, Alaska, Kansas, Alabama, Nevada, Maine, and Illinois are considering such measures.

For details on the particular bills and resolutions introduced by the above states, check out the following:

Washington

New Hampshire

Arizona

Montana

Michigan

Missouri

Oklahoma

California

Georgia

Sadly, far too many Americans are woefully ignorant when it comes to understanding their rights and the Constitution. As Gary Alder notes in his “15 Key Principles of the Founding Fathers,” the “9th and 10th Amendments are the keystones to preserving Freedom.” In fact, the first 10 amendments, known as the Bill of (Individual) Rights, clarify the restraints placed on the national government and they safeguard the rights of individuals. It does not take a rocket scientist to conclude that all of these individual rights are under withereing attack by the federal government.

--snip--

Unfortunately, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights were nullified many years ago, at least since the emergence of the Federalists under Alexander Hamilton, as Thomas J. DiLorenzo persausively argues. “Federalists like Joseph Story and John Marshall, and later Whig politicians like Daniel Webster and Abraham Lincoln… would tell The Big Lie that the Constitution was ratified by ‘the whole people’ and not as it actually was – by the citizens of the sovereign states, with their representatives assembled in state conventions,” writes DiLorenzo. In the years since, the reach and severity of federalism has grown expotentially. “The U.S. government is now characterized by dictatorial power, abuse of every kind of personal liberty, confiscatory taxation, economic fascism, dangerous militarism, and imperialism.” New World Order minion Obama will take this dictatorial power to new heights under the pretense of saving the people from the bankster engineered global economic depression.

As Obama and Congress further extend the dictatorial reach of the federal government — under the control of a small cotorie of globalists and international bankers — we can expect more states to assert their rights under the Constitution and the Tenth Amendment.

It is Veterans Day. As we honor their service and their sacrifice, we had best remember as well, that their past might be lost in OUR future.

Please everyone, find a group, say a prayer, hold fast to the belief that no individual or group of terrorist invaders from without or within can steal away our resolve, our dedication to FREEDOM, or our committment to insure that no amount of political corruption, political correctness, or evil intent will stay us from doing everything in our power to defeat them.

If you cannot find a group, form one. Start in your own family, in your own neighborhood. We must NOT be silent. We must not remain complacent. They are murdering us.

They are burying us under tons of malevolent statutes and illegally arrived at laws which are designed to smother dissent. They are cutting off the oxygen of freedom and we are beginning to smell the noxious fumes of tyranny.

We are already gasping for air even as they continue to cut off our blood supply while delivering us our death by a thousand cuts.

They are coming at us from every possible direction and we are under seige. They have declared war, and we have not responded in any way they care about. No one is listening to us. No one is seeing us. No one is answering us. They think they have weakened us past the point of no return and are unphased by any threat we have proffered to defeat them at the ballot box. They do not care.

The bureaucracy they have constructed will go on without them and it matters not whether we vote for or against any single one of them.

They are stealing the minds of our children and if we wait, there will be no one left to fight because our children, our most precious possession, will never know what we know now. They will not permit it. Remain silent and we doom our children to enslavement to the State, a fate worse than death.

Our strength is our devotion to the ideals that founded this great country. We cannot, we MUST not, be swayed from it either by intimidation or government mandate.

When the government orders us to obey laws and rules and regulations that are clearly designed to restrict our constitutional rights and deny us our freedom, we have the moral duty to repudiate that government in the strongest possible way.

We have a duty as Americans to guarantee for our children and our posterity the life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness our Founders bequeathed to us. To do less is to dishonor every human being who has ever fought or died for these ideals. It is to dishonor ourselves and insures that history will brand us cowards of the worst sort.

WE, who hold the last vestiges of freedom in our hands, must exercise that freedom or we are guaranteed to lose it.

“The bureaucracy they have constructed will go on without them and it matters not whether we vote for or against any single one of them.”

This is key. This is NOT even considered by most Americans who blame what they see in the form of elected officials in front of them today for all the woes accumulated over the years by those they don’t see.

It’s what we don’t see that we have to eliminate from our government, and that’s the entrenched Army of Leftist leadership in the many, and various bureaucracies throughout our government.

The non elected bureaucrats are truly one of the largest sources of our distress.

Bureaucrats are forever, and they can and do put the screws to anyone, and anything they don’t like.

They run the show.

If there is any hope to salvage this nation and return it to the founders vision, I think the GOP should run on the following concepts:

1. We will abolish the EPA, the Dept of Ed., the Dept of Energy, Dept of Labor, Dept of Health and Human Services and the Department of Housing and Urban Development. States, you're all on your own to take on these tasks and deal with them as you see fit.

2. We will amend the US Constitution to repeal the 16th amendment. The Federal Goverment will now collect taxes directly from the individual state governments based on the outlay of federal dollars directly to the individual states, excluding moneys that are used for the common defense which shall be based upon the populations of the individual states.

3. We will amend the Constitution to repeal the 17th amendment and return the power to the states as the founders envisioned.

4. We will amend the Constitution to incorporate term limits for members of Congress.

5. We will enforce border security and stop the influx of illegal immigrants to this country by any means necessary. We will deport any and all who are caught crossing the border. We will eliminate the "anchor baby" provision.

6. We will repeal TARP.

7. We will repeal any private industry bailouts that have occurred in the last 10 years. Companies that can't hack it on their own will be allowed to die.

8. We will eliminate any federal laws that sanction or provide support for abortion. It's not a federal issue, if government must be involved, it's at the state level.

9. We will clarify and minimize the allowable use of the Interstate Commerce clause. Much evil has been perpetrated using this blunt weapon.

Will they do it? NOPE. Perhaps we can institute these things in the free country that will rise from the ashes of what was the greatest country on earth.

You were saying ...

“First they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a trade unionist;

“Then they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a socialist;

“Then they came for the communists, and I did not speak out—because I was not a communist;

“Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak out for me.”

—Martin Niemöller (1892-1984)

Quite true... And that's why it pays to think of issues and/or political matters like this, on the basis of certain basic principles and logic, instead of who is supporting and/or not supporting them -- or thinking of these things solely in regards to what political party or representatives are supporting or not supporting something.

Many times something that sounds good when our own political party is in power can come back to "bite us" when the other party is in power. It has happened that way before...

What? The mode of electing senators makes all the difference. And by the way, the legislatures had the right to recall senators in mid-term. Read http://www.liberty-ca.org/repeal17/states/montana2003oneil.htm

Just keep an open mind. You will discover that the 17th amendment has had terrible unintended consequences.

Where does it say that? I don't see it. I agree with the antifeds that the mode of choosing senators had no effect whatsoever. It was an administrative function, form over substance. The states lost their sovereignty when the Constitution was ratified.
