The Italian-American Civil Rights League was founded by Joe Colombo.
In addition to standing up for the civil rights of Italian-Americans, it's stated purpose was also to combat the stereotyping of law-abiding, honest, and patriotic Italian-Americans as criminals.
A nobel cause. With just one major problem:
Joe Colombo, was not only the founder and boss of that Italian-American civil rights organization, but also the boss of the former Profaci mafia crime family. Which eventually became known as the Colombo-Family.
$ Hundreds of thousands of dollars went directly to the crime family as a result of Colombo's public-rallies and fundraising events.
As the story goes, Colombo's high-profile public activities, such as protests, and fundraising rallies, didn't set well with Carlo Gambino. It is widely speculated that Gambino ordered Colombo "silenced." read the rest.
C.A.I.R., Council on American Islamic Relations, likes to bill itself as a kind of civil rights organization for Muslims. But a lot more.
Much of their "public activity" is like the ACLU.
C.A.I.R. has been exposed as a front for Hamas in America.
