Sarah Palin hits it right on the head, with Governor Schwarzenegger.

"Why is Governor Schwarzenegger pushing for the same sorts of policies in Copenhagen that have helped drive his state into record deficits and unemployment? Perhaps he will recall that I live in our nation’s only Arctic state and that I was among the first governors to create a sub-cabinet to deal specifically with climate change. While I and all Alaskans witness the impacts of changes in weather patterns firsthand, I have repeatedly said that we can’t primarily blame man’s activities for those changes. And while I did look for practical responses to those changes, what I didn’t do was hamstring Alaska’s job creators with burdensome regulations so that I could act “greener than thou” when talking to reporters."

- Sarah Palin

Business in California has been forced itself into ever more environmental regulations within the state that has raised the cost of doing business The wine and brae crowd need a little help understanding basic economics and environmental issues.

Unfortunately, the governor has in many ways sold himself to the concepts of big government in the European style. I see he is already responded in a demeaning way, to Sarah's comments;

"The biggest jog creation is in green technology...people don't believe in fixing the environment or in global warming...they are living in the stone age"

So goes the war words. The truth is that California Smart set has not been able to fix the economy, environment and the ever-expanding government and unfortunately Governor Schwarzenegger is part of the problem.

My suggestion to Sarah Palin is use a famous line from the past when addressing California's huge environmental problems and inability to solve problems, just say, "I'll be back" at the end of your comment I'm sure Governor Schwarzenegger will understand!

The biggest jog creation is in green technology

Not true. Not even close.

If it were true you wouldn't have to subsidize it at every turn. When you consider that energy is one of the top costs in any operation, any company has a huge incentive to lower its energy costs and consumption. If it makes sense, they are doing it. If you have to subsidize it to make it happen, its because its a false economy.

False economies displace jobs, they do not create them.

"Not true. Not even close."

So then there aren't as many people running to work instead of driving as they originally predicted?

Sarah Palin keeps taking on the people and subjects others won’t.

Too bad there are the Obama supporters on FR who bash Palin.
They don’t want a winner and do all they can to facilitate
an Obama 2nd term

Parse that as it is printed. It may not be a typo. If the state goes really "green" then more people will be jogging to work because mechanical transportation is severely limited. There will be lots of "jog" creation.

"people don't believe in fixing the environment or in global warming...they are living in the stone age"

The words of a man who has the perfect intellect for body-building and starring in fantasy-type Hollywood movies.

First recognition, mother nature is the biggest driver of change in the environment. Mother nature’s arsenal includes the Sun, water vapor, methane and of course carbon dioxide. Mother nature’s oceans also have a major role in the temperature issue and I forgot volcanic activity.

At this point mans carbon dioxide is the issue and the science is still not resolved. Carbon trading is not the answer it may slow down economies put people out of work yet will not change the balance of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, in short term or medium term of time. The global warming proponents do not have a working model they have a bunch of best guesses and I’m sorry that does not reach the level for massive change of our economic structure.

I think the global warming fanatics must first prove without question their assertions the skeptics need not prove anything they are not asking to change the world.

In short my answer

Of all the “greenhouse gases” CO2 is a tiny percentage of the total, a mere trace. And “manmade” CO2 is a tiny percentage of that. So we’re talking about a trace of a trace, while ignoring the huge thermonuclear fireball hanging in the sky. Scientists who point to the correlation between variations in solar output and temperature variations were laughed at by the globwarm conmen. Of course, what else would they do?

Meanwhile every planet in the solar system was warming, as was reported, and the globwarm conmen told us, ignore that, there’s no connection. Of course not.

Carbon trading is the point; its the biggest money laundering scam in the history of the planet, it makes the previous Oil for Food scam look like penny ante. That was billions. This is potentially trillions. Trillions to be made and you don’t actually have to make anything or grow anything or create anything, you just crank out the paper and you get a cut of everyone’s action forever.
