A new Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll, conducted among 2,000 self-identified Republican respondents nationwide, gives an interesting peek into the psyche of the minority party's base.
Kos has not yet released the full numbers, but here's some early info on the poll that he has posted on his Twitter account:
39% of Republicans want President Obama to be impeached.
63% think Obama is a socialist.
Only 42% believe Obama was born in the United States.
21% think ACORN stole the 2008 election -- that is, that Obama didn't actually win it, and isn't legitimately the president, with 55% saying they are "not sure." This number is actually significantly lower than it was in a similar question from Public Policy Polling (D) back in November, which said that 52% of Republicans thought ACORN stole it. So does this mean Obama is gaining ground among Republicans? As it is, only just over 20% of Republicans will say that Obama actually won the election.
53% think Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama to be president.
23% want to secede from the United States.
73% think gay people should not be allowed to teach in public schools. This position puts the GOP base well to the right of none other than Ronald Reagan, who helped defeat the Briggs Initiative, a 1978 referendum in California that would have forbidden gays or people who advocated gay rights from teaching in public schools.
31% want contraception to be outlawed.
He’s no socialist. He’s a marxist quisling
Palin is more qualified than other Republicans too.
Same polling outfit that had Massachusetts Senate race tied going into election day. Should we study the polls of the enemy?
0bama calls himself a Progressive. What is a Progressive other than a socialist? A Marxist communist that’s what.
well duh!
Period. It isn't even justifiably challengable. She did more in 2.5 years as Alaska's Governor than any five others to hold similar office in any State in the union, and she juggled all that productivity with being a mom, a housewife, having a baby and running for VP.
And she made it look easy... she never even broke a sweat.
That people can pillory her as they do is simply a measure of the depravity to which they have sunk as human beings. This country barely deserves her any more.
;-/
“Socialist” is the polite word for “communist”.
Personally, I try not to use the word “socialist” anymore. I’ve always been annoyed by morons who use the word “falsehood” or even “untruth” instead of the word “lie”. Something just smells cowardly about trying to dress up language.
A communist is a communist.
They adopted progressive as communist is such a harsh word..but that is exactly what they are and there is nothing progressive about communism...
If Sarah can read a balance sheet she’s more qualified!
These Ivy League idiots are going to destroy America unless God saves us out of pure pity.
You got that right. We spent so many tears and years fighting communism and now that it is call "progressive" we let in in the front door like an old friend...how stupid can Americans get.
Where did they find random republicans stupid enough to think Acorn stole the election last year? They probably just called democrats and told them what to say.
I'm a 53%'er.
Yosemite Sam is more qualified than Obozo.
Guess I'm a 63%'er too.
I don’t believe the part about 31% want contraception to be outlawed (unless they are talking about abortion).
My favorite comments by the posters mad about the results. This one tried to calm the others.
“I’m certainly no fan of Republicans, but these results make me wonder if the pollsters identified themselves as associated with DailyKos. If they did, isn’t it more likely that a substantial fraction of the respondents were just f^^king around? It’d be like the National Review taking a poll of Democratic voters and asking questions like, “Do you think George Bush is the devil?”
Just for fun...
39% of Republicans want President Obama to be impeached.
I don’t want him impeached. I want him defeated. For the same reason I spit on Democrat’s retiring. The people should have a right to reject you and your policies.
Besides, Impeachment is the easy way out. Americans elected this guy so they need to live with the conquences. Perhaps they’ll earn a valuable lesson.
63% think Obama is a socialist.
That’s a mild term to describe what he is.
Only 42% believe Obama was born in the United States.
Don’t care about this issue any more then I cared about what was it...Fort Mercy Park? If people want to pursue it I’m fine it but I have better things to do then chase leads that will never go anywhere.
21% think ACORN stole the 2008 election — that is, that Obama didn’t actually win it, and isn’t legitimately the president, with 55% saying they are “not sure.” This number is actually significantly lower than it was in a similar question from Public Policy Polling (D) back in November, which said that 52% of Republicans thought ACORN stole it. No, he won. The margin was too high to be result of Acorn. Then of course he had the luck of running against Maverick.
53% think Sarah Palin is more qualified than Obama to be president.
She is.
23% want to secede from the United States.
No, I really don’t want that.
I’m not sure on this one. I tend to lean towards no. In general I don’t believe denying employment for something I find to be wrong in their personal life, but this profession can be highly impressionable on children and I just do not think children should have to deal with this social experiment.
31% want contraception to be outlawed.
No, I don’t believe they should.
Here's three words to put an end to that thought: "President Joe Biden."
Well, I’m a Republican, and I personally do not want Palin for president. I’m not even sure she is more qualified than Obama. I think she is more of a maverick than a true conservative...she’s likely to surprise you.
I would also rather see a man as the president. No kidding, I’d rather see a man stand up to those murdering Muslim radicals.
