Conservatism Won When McCain Lost
London Telegraph ^ | 3-16-10 | Gerald Warner

Posted on 03/15/2010 6:36:03 PM PDT by molybdenum

Gerald Warner in the London Telegraph, writing about the Chicago gun case that was argued recently, writes in passing:

It looks as if Obama is turning into an accidental promoter of conservative values, by provoking a reaction through the law of unintended consequences. Thanks to Obama, it's not only gun and ammo sales that are through the roof. Conservative tomes are best sellers and liberal politicians are on the defensive after being so triumphalist less than a year ago---

Rest of article: “This is something I’ve seen predicted by Lawrence Auster of View from the Right, who opined, rightly it turns out IMO, that a McCain victory would have doomed conservatism, which was then moribund and on life support in 2008. In the “death grip” of non-conservatives liberal poseurs, of which McCain is almost certainly one.”

Well, in truth, Obama WON when McCain lost. So we all won, right?

If McCain had won, we would be heading in the same direction as now, only slower. McCain would be making friends among the ‘rats as usual, possibly would have appointed Hillary to the same job she holds now in the interest of bipartisanship. the idiots who voted for 0bama would be waiting for ‘12 and 0 would surely be elected.IMO

There would be some damnfool thread "Day in the Life of John McCain." With or without the photos of him with Nazi Pelosi on a sofa, whispering in Hillary's ear, giving 0 sage advice...and he would resent any favorable coverage of Palin, his VP, who would be doing what VPs do, not a whole lot. Of course, there is always the unexpected, and she might have become Prez.

At best, the cards are on the table, we know what 0bama is: a Marxist who spent little time in the US, let alone the Senate, despises America and her flag & military, has no god except Allah, hates Israel, and bows & grovels to foreign leaders. He has become an embarrassment to the Dems and now they are at a real disadvantage.

If McCain had won there'd be an even bigger disconect in Republican appeal to American individualism and independence. We think we see cynicism NOW in voters with "There's not a dime's bit of difference between the two parties," imagine what it would have been if McCain won. Or if Romney gets in there, God forbid.

Somebody said "If you're young and conservative, you have no heart, if you're old and liberal, you have no brain." Meaning that a lot of people are in the pipeline out of government coercion to becoming conservative. The Republican party has to be their party. And it ain't the party of bigger government. But that's all that GOP folks like McCain and Romney bring to the table. Just negotiated surrender.

This is NOT an unintended consequence!! There are those of us who knew damned well that if McCann won conservatism would have taken a serious blow. Conservatives would have felt obligated to give him at least lukewarm support just because he isn't a Dem. It was time to say "Basta!" "No more! It stops here!"

Conservatism has no chance of surviving with Republican candidates like McCann.

The Boston Tea Party is remembered because they destroyed 90,000 pounds of tea and caused ONE MILLION DOLLARS IN DAMAGE.

Our Tea Partiers pick up their own garbage.

The commies laugh at us.

They respect brute force, play to win at any cost and will do whatever is necessary including violence and character assassination to achieve their goals.

We have nifty signs which we will leave outside if asked to by the apparatchiks.

The only signs needed are big ones with one word NO, or “what part of NO don’t you understand, Commies?”

McCain would have been sure to appoint some Dems, and Hillary in State, and the Reconquista movement + LaRaza would have been invited to the WH for friendly “talks”. Nappy would be where she sits now. Mac would be working to get amnesty passed. Then he’d tackle socialized med.

Just imagine all of the talking heads using everything McCain said and did as President to define Republicans and conservatives.

His entire Presidency would be a tiring uphill battle for us trying to explain that the Republican President was not in the least conservative. Our voices would be drowned out by the media, the WH, Congressional RINOs and GOP loyalists.
