Obama Uses Humor at West Point to Remind that His "Power is Absolute" over Military - Video

Here is video from President Obama's Commencement Speech at West Point today, where he used humor to remind everyone his "power is absolute" over the military.

Obama told the Cadets his "power is wisely limited" as President, but that there is one area where he has absolute power. He then said he "absolved all cadets who are on restriction for minor conduct offenses," but said he would leave it those who knew better than him to determine what "minor" is.

How the cadets loved President Bush and how these cadets know in their hearts that this man is a traitor to America. They barely applauded his babbling commentary.

That may be true but I wouldn't look for subliminal messages of resistance from the cadets. There are quite a few liberals within the grey walls.

No matter, the oath is "To Protect and Defend the Constitution", not the President. He can order whatever he chooses, but the oath is the same regardless. These are also the exact words of the oath that the Fraud, who sleeps at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., took.

Is the remitting of minor offenses not routine when the CiC addressese the cades at one of the academies?

yeah, like he thinks he’s the only one that has ever done the pardoning of the cadets. What a jerk? Can’t tell me the entire audience gave him a standing O though huh?

Ahh, that’s what I wanted to hear from someone who was actually there at the graduation. Did he get good applause, polite applause or barely applause? The media won’t show it so...can others who were there confirm this?

Oath of Enlistment

I, (NAME), do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.

Sorry Zero, you do not have absolute control of our military, they swear allegiance to the Constitution and only obey your lawful orders.

What a douche bag

That was Nicolae Ceausescu in my post #12.

Yes — it was a lame attempt at humor, but I don’t attribute it to him. Whomever wrote the script gets the credit.

AAMOF — I wonder if O can repeat any of what he said — er — read — off the teleprompter.

I watched it on TV. There was one moment of great applause and it was at the beginning at the announcement of some awards for cadets. Other than that the applause was weak at best.

There were times he stopped for applause and there was no response at all. At other times when he stopped there was a small response.

I hope that's how he feels in November.

This reminds me. Less than a year ago, there was a big deal about “military oath keepers”, military personnel who affirmed that their oath of allegiance is to the US constitution, not the POTUS.

More specifically, that they again affirmed that they would NOT carry out a presidential order that was unconstitutional or an unlawful order.

But after this brief flurry in the news, there hasn’t been much or any follow up on this organization or its members.

Why would and sane president feel the need to remind those beautiful young dedicated highly educated men and women at West Point that his power as commander in chief is absolute?

It certainly draws a clear message that uhbama knows they despise him as much as we do. Uhbama has more than earned it...and he cannot take away the part of their oath that orders them to fight the enemy, both foreign and domestic.

Good. Thanks a lot. Thank God for the cadets and their families. They DO have dignity and grace. They had to applaud now and then but with it being weak...he got the message loud and clear. Thanks you and God bless these future heroes.

The brilliant one told the cadets they might have to go in harm’s way.

I guess they had no idea they were at a MILITARY ACADEMY until he mentioned that little detail.

Even with the teleprompter he did a very poor job.

Oh I wish I knew how to put in Jerry the Laughing mouse on that one. That was a riot. None of us know anything unless he tells us right??? Imagine the cadets and families were laughing like crazy.
