Publius Interview: Herman Cain… for President?
Publius Forum ^ | 07/27/10 | Warner Todd Huston

Posted on 07/27/2010 10:58:33 AM PDT by Mobile Vulgus

Where ever Herman Cain goes he meets enthusiastic crowds. There is a reason for that: He is an incredibly dynamic man. He has a compelling life story and boy can he whip up a crowd! Every time I've seen him he has the folks on their feet in wild applause. And Cain revels in the attention giving the crowd a wide smile with every speech.

His resume is quite impressive, of course. After all, he was the man that was assigned stewardship of the troubled Godfather Pizza chain when he worked for Pillsbury Foods and turned it around into a money-maker when no one expected him to be able to do so. It became so successful that he was able to buy the chain and run it himself.

But it isn't just his past business experience that shows what a can-do man he is. He also beat cancer. It took him four years, but he did it. He's cancer free and in the fit of health. And now he is a talk radio host out of Atlanta's WSB AM 750. He has also formed the Herminator Pac and is “prayerfully” exploring the possibility of running for president in 2012.

This guy really is an inspirational speaker. Can he be a good presidential candidate?

Goodness knows he’s already done more than the Zero in Chief had ever done.

He knows how to run a business...I’d like to hear him talk about other issues like the wars, foreign policy, etc.

Can he be a good presidential candidate?

Maybe...but he would be an excellent Secretary of Commerce.

Works for me. He is at least as good as, if not better, then any of the other candidates being talked about

Herman is certainly worthy of serious consideration. It wouldn’t be pleasant to watch the left trying to bring him down though. I’m not sure I want to ask anyone to face that much heat.

I think the person that would surprise everyone (if he would run) would be New Jersey Governor Christie.

His no BS talk and direct honest answers would win him in a landslide

When you ask him a question you get an answer. If he said he would surround himself with a team that understood the USA business, he could take it in a walk.

And I am a huge Sarah Palin supporter- but I think on the virtue of his plain-speaking talk alone, he could surprise everyone and win it.

Be honest now. You think he’d be a “good candidate” because he’s a black guy. Right?

“Look! We have one too!’

I’m not anti black. I just find it kind of “transparent” when we do things like this.

Racism is still racism, whether it’s for or against.

Well, if he can handle the job, and if he wants the job, and if he can get the votes....

then his skin color would be a definite plus, because IT WOULD TAKE RACE OUT OF THE RACE.

I certainly understand your point, but this is not a time to be persnickety. We need every weapon we can find, and I don’t mind using melanin.

I find it particular that this argument is used against Herman Cain but not the considerable number of conservative Black candidates that are running for Congress Couldn't it be said the same for them? 'Gee Wiz' look at all the Black congressional candidates we are supporting!

But I have to admit I would love seeing how MSN or say someone like Cynthia Tucker covered a Cain nomination. Their heads would surely EXPLODE!!!!!!!

I’d vote for him in heartbeat! He’s a LOT better than most ‘Pubbies. The Democrats have nothing comparable.

He’d be a great president, but he doesn’t have the “political capital” to run.

Of course, IMHO, the process of acquiring such “political capital” is what corrupts a politician in the first place.

Nope. He would be great if he were white, too.

You need to follow his show, and join his group for updates.
It doesn’t have anything to do with him being black. It has everything to do with him being a business success and way more conservative than the average ‘Pubbie.

I hear ya. Particularly about taking race out of the equation.

But I think the people we want to persuade (white libs and mods) see right through it, and it makes us look shifty and superficial instead.

Anyone here think color wan’t a factor in the selection of Michael Steele?

Anyone here think everyone else knows that?

As I understand it, this guy was a business man and now a talk show host.

Right?

So, he’s obviously presidential material?

Hey, he may be great. I don’t know.

I’m just saying methinks some here gush to obviously.

Well, I am against racism. I am also against jerks like you thinking he can read everyone's mind. I couldn't care less that Cain is black. What I like is his love of America and his excellent business record. We neeed more people like Herman Cain and less like YOU, "pestimist."

I agree on Steele.

Big difference, though, between Steele and Cain. Cain’s undeniable business acumen, regardless of skin color, could be a huge plus in this economic mess.

If he is truly interested in running, he’d sure be a plus on the campaign trail this fall.
