What tennis is missing is the great rivalries and personalities in the 70s, Connors, Borg, McEnroe, they had personalities and you loved or hated them.

When they removed the females from woman's tennis.

Yep! I think they should start handicapping players based on a ratio of their dimensions. (i.e. 36-24-36 = 0 handicap!) :)

“What does this say about us?”
We’re Americans?
Let’s see, our best woman player is a ghetto-style thug who threatened to kill an official by stuffing a ball down her throat. Fortunately she’s injured this year and can’t compete. One Russian player had a nervous breakdown on the court, and after losing left the court shouting how much she hated America. But she’s back this year, seeded 7th, and eager for more Yankee dollars! Mind if I don’t give her any?
As for the men, they are gentleman athletes, and I will watch them play on TV. Perhaps there will be another Nadal-Federer final?

When they removed the females from woman's tennis. You mean "females" like Billie Jean King?

Well, when the she-men finally retire I may start watching again or if a good American male shows some promise. Just tired of the same Swede or Spaniard making it to the finals. Also, it's hard to get excited about playing tennis when it's 96 degrees outside with 100% humidity!

Tennis is very trendy and very fruity, but it's not a sport. It's just a way to meet other trendy fruits. Technically, tennis is an advanced form a Ping-Pong. In fact, tennis is Ping-Pong played while standing on the table. Great concept, but not a sport. - George Carlin

“One theory as to tennis declining popularity is that baby boomers who grew up with Borg, Connors, McEnroe, et al, are too old to play it anymore”
That’s it in a nutshell. Tennis is a punishing game, especially for those of us who never got good enough to serve, volley and pound groundstrokes without tearing up tendons and joints. After fifteen or twenty years off it’s hard to get interested in the latest generation of killer tennis bots. Sorry kids.

We were only pretending to like tennis before.
We just quit pretending.

Tennis is just inherently dull.
One small court and two dudes hitting
The ball over the net. No plays, no teammates.
No real strategy, esp. With the overpowering
Serves the men have. Dying sport it is.

Because like Furio Giunta on The Sopranos said about golf, “It’s a stupid-a-facking game.”

Tennis hasn't been great since the rivalry of Borg-McEnroe.
