“Is That The Best You Can Do?” [CBS News' Bob Schieffer to BHO Flunkie David Axelrod]
The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal ^ | October 12, 2010 | Donald R. May

Posted on 10/11/2010 11:51:02 PM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

That was the question asked of David Axelrod by Bob Schieffer Sunday on “Face the Nation”. A Liberal newsman and commentator took on and ridiculed Obama’s White House Adviser on CBS – Obama really has turned off many people with his arrogance and incompetence.

Barack Obama and the DNC have been reduced to scandal mongering as a political defense against the Republican landslide that will take place in just three weeks. They have been diminished to the level of throwing political crap on the wall and hoping something useful might stick.

A recently released DNC television commercial accused the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of diverting dues from foreign members to Republican political campaigns. Even the Left sees such allegations as silly, hypocritical, and without evidence. The Chamber receives about $100,000 in foreign dues per year, and this money is purposely used to fund areas other than domestic politics. In just the past week, the Chamber spent about $10 million of its $200 million yearly budget, illustrating the silliness of claiming some of the $100,000 might have been diverted to the feared Republicans. Bob Schieffer rebuked Axelrod as was nicely illustrated by Noel Sheppard at NewsBusters, CBS’s Bob Schieffer on Sunday mocked President Obama’s senior adviser David Axelrod for echoing last week’s unsubstantiated charge by a liberal website that the Chamber of Commerce is funneling foreign money to support Republican candidates.

“The New York Times looked into the Chamber specifically and said the Chamber really isn’t putting foreign money into the campaign,” said the Face the Nation host.

“This part about foreign money, that appears to be peanuts,” chided Schieffer.

Barack Obama is not running for office, but Obama is visibly shaken by the prospect of having the Republicans as the majority party in both the House and Senate in 2011. If the Democrats supporting Obama’s agenda do not show up at the voting booths, the Republicans could even achieve veto-proof 2/3 majorities in both the House and Senate.

Just last week, Obama laid the groundwork for the DNC television advertisement blasting the Chamber.

OBAMA: Just this week, we learned that one of the largest groups paying for these ad regularly takes in money from foreign corporations. So groups that receive foreign money are spending huge sums to influence American elections. And they won’t tell you where the money for the ads come from.

So this isn’t just a threat to Democrats. All Republicans should be concerned. Independents should be concerned. This is a threat to our democracy. The American people deserve to know who’s trying to influence their elections. And if we just stand by and allow the special interests to silence anybody who’s got the guts to stand up to them, our country’s going to be a very different place.

One cannot forget Obama’s attack on our Supreme Court Justices. During his January State of the Union address, Obama warned that the Supreme Court’s recent Citizens United decision “will open the floodgates for special interests — including foreign corporations — to spend without limit in our election.” And in his weekly address in September, Obama warned again, “Foreign-controlled corporations seeking to influence our democracy are able to spend freely in order to swing an election toward a candidate they prefer.” His prediction, widely mocked by conservatives, has unfortunately proven prescient.

Obama and the Democrats are trying to rally their useful idiots and other party loyalists to get out the vote. Obama has been out daily trying to rally and scare the Democratic youth to vote on Election Day. Obama has lost most of the senior voters, both Republican and even Democrat, because ObamaCare has taken $500 billion from Medicare and will greatly reduce the quality of care Medicare will provide. Maybe someone should remind Obama that he, as President and Commander in Chief, has a real job that he is neglecting.

Unless Obama can stop the election within the next three weeks, a beautiful morning will dawn in America on Wednesday 03 November. The sweet smell of Liberty will again fill the air of our land.

The window of opportunity for him to try some kind of desperate stunt closed months ago.

If he tries to gin up a crisis now, he’ll be giving Congress the excuse both parties now want to get rid of him.

This is where Obama jumped the shark.

Even the MSM is disgusted by this pathetic stunt. Obama and his political geniuses are now getting their brilliant ideas from the lefty blogs.

From here on in, the lib media is going to turn on him. He’s gone from savior to albatross.

That was the best effort for a journalism work product old Bob has put out since he drove Lee Harvey Oswald’s Mother to the Dallas Police station trying to get a scoop.

“the Republicans could even achieve veto-proof 2/3 majorities in both the House and Senate.”

I stopped reading right there; although I believe a Tsunami is coming on 11/2, this is impossible. In the House it’s theoretically possible (it won’t happen), but there is ZERO chance of a 2/3 majority in the Senate. Who is this yahoo?

Democrats needed a new demonization project to stir up their base, but the US Chamber of Commerce doesn’t have the same evil zing of Big Oil. Commerce is actually considered a good thing by most people, working Democrats included.

"If he tries to gin up a crisis now, he’ll be giving Congress the excuse both parties now want to get rid of him."

The problem is that there is no sane leadership in the communist Democrat Party to replace Obama should Congress suddenly find the courage to impeach the Alien president and remove him from office. The country is screwed until Jan. 2013.

‘Who is this yahoo?’

Donald R. May is an eye surgeon in Lubbock Texas who ran for Congress about 6 years ago and comments in the Lubbock paper. Not exactly a Michael Barone.

Now, let's not get too excited. How are we going to get 60 conservative Republican Senators in 3 weeks?

Hope you’re right. How many weeks between the announcement to open off shore drilling, and the BP catastrophe?

Any “conventional” rat-fink politco would be preferable to Obama. As Rush pointed out, the Republicans and Obama’s fellow dems don’t understand that he’s not a conventional politician—he’s an agitator, a Marxist mole who wants to bring down the system. Obama does not respond to the same stimuli and incentives. He’s not going to compromise his plan in order to get re-elected. He means to do as much damage as he can in the time he has left. He knows the dems will be on the outs for the next few election cycles but he’s calculated the the Pubbies won’t try to repeal and rescind his massive growth of government.

Soon enough, the Party of Government will be back, this time to stay.
