Intrusive pat-downs, strip-searches, and body scans far too high a price to pay for political correctness: 70% favor advanced terrorist profiling techniques instead
The Obammunist regime has this little habit of acting like there's simply no alternative to their heavy-handed statist ways -be it health care, bailouts, or air travel safety- while slandering opponents that dare bring any reality to the debate. But the TSA's x-ray/pat-down/or $11,000 fine oppression US airline passengers has many thinking this long holiday weekend that there's got to be another way... and there is.
TSA Chief John Pistole has come right out and said that the reason all American air-travelers are being treated like criminals for the privilege of travelling in their own country is that we "Americans don't profile". In other words, the United States steadfastly refuses to adopt the world-class behavioral/background profiling techniques developed in Israel over the last 40 years... a comprehensive and proven system that's been offered to the US repeatedly, and one even Mr Pistole himself refers to as "top notch".
In the last three decades, the Israeli national carrier El Al
-arguably the largest terrorist target on the planet- has suffered exactly zero terrorist attacks. There has never been an El Al plane hijacked out of Israel's Ben Gurion Airport- contrast this to eight hijackings originating in the US for Delta Airlines alone (prior to 9/11).
When the idea of us having a similarly top-notch system was bounced-off Robert Gibbs this week, he avoided the essential profiling debate entirely by speciously claiming the methods wouldn't scale up- when we all know that's not it. Like any recovering alcoholic can tell you, the first thing you've got to do is face the reality of your problem... something clearly not happening within this administration on a number of issues
But racially-obsessed Third-World-romanticizer Obama needs to be told in no uncertain terms that enough is enough... it's time that we not just consider -but demand- a practical and effective alternative to his all-out assault on our Fourth Amendment rights:
But far better the resurgent GOP attempt to force Obama's hand on this before events conspire to do the same at a far higher price to our country and/or liberty.
So as Americans endure a most unbearable travel season 2010, the time is now to bring a change in TSA strategy if we possibly can, the public support is there... a fresh WaPo poll says 70% of Americans favor implementation of Israeli-style profiling.
Unlike the 'Progressive' Left, Republicans would be actually giving the people what they want... just how democracy is supposed to work, and a glaring contrast that's a huge political winner heading-on-into 2012.
Happy Thanksgiving FReepers!!!
OH NO..not the “P” word
Profiling is in use at American airports. It’s just used in catching drug smugglers. But see, that’s ok, because in Obamaworld, we all get the prison intake treatment, because this whole drug mule thing is just em... Err, right, only on domestic flights...
I don’t honestly like the whole idea of having federal agents walking the line, asking questions, demanding to know destination, where my aunt was born, etc. There are levels of infringement into our 4th and 5th amendment protections that we’re willing to undergo. Virtual strip search or enhanced pat down? Not willing. Answering some awkward questions, maybe, but only so long as it leads to somewhere, not just ‘to avoid lawsuits, we’re going to demand everyone submit to advanced questioning.’
There’s where the problem is. In the federal eagerness to appear fair, they are equally unfair to everyone. While I appreciate the idealsim behind demanding the Israeli style screening, I think the better course of action is forbidding the TSA (or anyone) from using these inane scanners. Because they’re already showing up at courthouses.
What?? The MSM is saying that most Americans ENJOY and APPRECIATE the nude scanner and “enhanced” pat down.
This is what they have been playing all morning-
“If it’s fur ma safetee, then I don’t mind it one bit.” Joe Scmoe, American.
Yep
The very same lol
Exactly, any method’s got it’s tradeoffs
In most Americans’ view... the Israelis have more sensible priorities.
Obama is a socialist, he thinks all suffering should be shared, rather than contained to the groups that caused it
Now that’s funny!
You’ve prolly seen this one, but fwiw-

I want brilliant, creative approaches to thwarting terrorists in keeping with the Constitutional mandate to provide an impenetrable wall behind which citizens can expect justice and enjoy civil liberties. However, I would never expect bright and creative to be adjectives applied to the bureaucrats and politicians who insist on providing for our safety. In fact their pervasive involvement obscures the realities the rest of us could think through to discover meaningful solutions.
Our society allows police to subject individuals even to abusive intrusions when such actions are deemed reasonable responses to actions. They stop a speeding car. They search with reasonable suspicion based on specific and demonstrable facts. They subdue and even kill a citizen in response to escalating levels of violence.
However, TSA bureaucrats are allowed intimate, primal domination of people when they have done nothing to elicit the behavior. The massive, random and warrantless program of body scanners and pat downs creates an environment for institutionalizing the worst demons of the human condition.
This country has before and should not again, suffer the consequences of allowing one group of people dominion over another, when submission was not provoked by the other partys uncivil behavior. In The Life and Times of Fredrick Douglas, he believed that slavery perpetrated as much emotional and psychological damage on the owner as the slave.
The Homeland Security approach contrasts sharply to the disparaged NSA program for warrantless intrusion into private communications, where analysts sought a handful of useful leads from the 60 to 100 billion calls per day. Their standards first passed a Fourth Amendment test, and then focused on much narrower parameters to find signals of interest.
For the NSA probability and statistics enabled approaches, which are otherwise condemned as profiling. TSA should be allowed enhanced surveillance methods, when their rules focus on actions and characteristics denoting responses with a higher probability for terrorist actions. Unfortunately the current environment discourages those capable of higher order thought from positions of power.
And Secure the Borders! Its part of the problem!
“OH NO..not the P word”
Afraid so pal......
Isn’t it absolutely amazing that because the Israelis don’t pay any attention to the silly concept of political correctness when it comes to “profiling” they don’t have their planes exploding in mid air? And they don’t even grope everybody!
I tried to explain to my young daughter how the word “prejudice” has been perverted by the left to mean some thing bad. I explained to her that we all “prejudge” things based on our past experiences to give us some forewarning critical to our survival.
We all “discriminate” in order to be able to tell the difference between things that are harmless and things that might kill us.
We all “profile” to allow us to operate efficiently so we don’t have to go through everything we have ever learned to make a decision about something. In other words, we can quickly discard irrelevant data to quickly narrow down the decisions we have to make.
These things are all part of what allows us to survive and function as human beings!
The left has perverted the language and made all these normal human functions into something awful.
Israeli style security will only happen when the repubicans get some Israeli style gonads.
In sooooo many ways.
Your examples are spot on.
Now, how can you build a massive, Democrat Party supporting, government employee union with a work force like that?
The key difference is intelligence. The Israeli screeners employ intelligent methods, and hire intelligent people. And they profile. Their system works, too. It works in actuality, not like the absurd declarations made by US authorities about how well the US system works.
But then, too, Israel has a government that cares about its country and its people. Sadly, the same cannot be said of the US any longer.
“Some say Obama’s heavy-handed approach -where the affirmative-action-staffed TSA gets to put whitey up against the wall- is yet one more chapter in a bizarre racial agenda”
Pretty much true.
.
We need to know why Chertoff ex-DHS and a government hack was able to profit big time by hyping a false need and stealing our rights.
We actually had a failed Christmas bomber, not a Christmas bomber. The alleged perp was escorted through Amsterdam security by someone in authority and permitted to board the flight without going through their security. Why?
These machines emit dangerous radiation and don’t even work for all types of bomb placement such as in body cavities.
