ATF let gun cross border that killed US agent
Founding Ideals ^ | 2/27/2011 | Aaron Gee

CBS news is reporting that the ATF let firearms be illegally imported into Mexico in the hopes that it could trace the firearms later. One of the firearms that the ATF “let go” later was used in a gunfight where a federal agent died. Reportedly the ATF has let more than 2,500 illegally purchased firearms into Mexico.

A couple of items that stick out in the article

* 1. It was the private dealers flagged the sales as suspicious and wanted to stop the sale. The ATF asked them to make the sale anyway.

* 2. Agents wanted to intercept guns at the border and were told to “stand down”.

The ATF was the agency that laid siege to the Waco compound of David Koresh. That incident ultimately ended in the death of more than 76 of Koresh’s followers, including 20 children. The agency was also involved in the Ruby Ridge case, and the Ken Ballew Raid.

The ATF ultimately reports to the Department of Justice and Eric “no voter intimidation here” Holder. When an agency has a history of questionable decisions, strong moral leadership is very important. Is it any wonder that they’ve made such a bad decision in light of who the agency ultimately reports to?

This entire affair makes me feel sorry for the Mexican authorities, with friends like the ATF letting in thousands of illegal firearms, who needs enemies?

The article has a link to CBS News, but the link is broken. Before expressing an opinion, I’d wait for more verification.

Heard anything about the Hutarree Militia lately? They were widely denounced as “cop killers” right here at FR, and yet not one of them has been to trial yet, and the story has been buried by the MSM.

This agency needs to be done, now. I’m sick of these half baked agencies that don’t do what they are suppose to do and live by their own laws on our tax dollars. In a land where no body gets fired no matter how bad they are, and then retire fat and happy on our doe.

More verification?

Several Senators have yanked the nomination hearings of Obama's ATF Head nominee and have called openly for Congressional hearings into the train wreck.

DOJ and ATF will not comment even off the record but are going like gang busters to silence the ATF whistle blowers.

What more you want, the ATF to go one CNN and admit to it?

Its real and the ATF has blood all over their hands...

That caser began to fall apart when it came to light the FBI's star witness was a local undercover cop with a history of questionable acts and disciplinary matters. Who more or less strong-armed those arrested into taking about violating the law. No one actual did anything beyond discuss acts.

Lets not sugar coat anything.

ATF was caught breaking the law in order to manufacture political propaganda. Close them down. Prosecute everyone, revoke their pensions, enforce RICO against everyone who has enabled them. Including the media.

Anything less is a slap in the face to the founding Fathers and all who have bled for American freedom.

It's real. David Codrea and Mike Vanderboegh have been working on this story since 2010 desperately trying to get the media to investigate this. Read more:

have been on this story for a couple of months, put it on Sen Grassley’s radar too. It is really shocking that the Federal government would do this in the first place, and as always, its the cover-up that will cook their goose.

I've seen the CBS story and it is pretty damning, including comments from ATF field agents about the problems with the operation.

ATF used gun dealers in Arizona as confidential informants to sell large quantities of weapons through straw buyers. Instead of intercepting those weapons prior to them being smuggled across the border, ATF managers ordered field agents to let the smugglers succeed. Two of those weapons, tracked by serial number were found at the shooting of BP agent Terry.

Sounds very consistent to the rumor mill within DHS, as well.

A good degree, with high grades, commissioned military officer, Brooks Brothers = you go CIA
A less prestigious degree in Accounting, mediocre grades, cop experience, military non-com, knock-off Armani, or JC Penny if you're a Mormon (which the FBI likes) = you go FBI
A drop out from East Disciple High School, a dishonorable discharge, severe dyslexia (cause of them always going to the wrong address on raids), fired by your uncle from a small town police force, fat, heavy drinker, poor social skills, loud, Wal-Mart Tailoring, max IQ -100, tattoos, taurine scrotum hanging from back of pickup = you go ATF.

All three heavily recruiting Affirmative Action Ani, and really bitchy women, but still a scale of class and intelligence rules. Probably bout 500 different law enforcement outfits hidden away on the federal payroll, some actually good. Big on SWAT.

ATF, IMHO, still the pits. I would really like the people who dreamed up this turd regatta to be exchanged for hostages in Somalia, but not before I beat the living snot out of each of them. I would also like them to replace the Secret Service.

PS:,,,,, and now you know why our intelligence services don't speak with one another. The CIA considers themselves too good for everyone else. The FBI IS too good for everyone else. And nothing anyone says would be understood by the ATF, which needs a flashlight, mirror, and GPS to find its own corrupt, stupid hindquarters.

I’m confused by the headline. Did the gun kill the agent, or did the border kill the agent? The headline says the border killed the agent.

I guess I should have said that the author of the headline should have stated it this way:

“ATF let gun that killed US agent cross border”

Guy’s sense of the passage of time is a little skewed, I think. Kenyon Ballew was shot, IIRC, in the early 70’s. While I was still living at home, before I graduated high school...

I hope he got the rest of his story in better sequence than that little bit.
