Bill Kristol’s Moronic Quote of the Day
C4P ^ | March 23, 2011 | Doug Brady

Posted on 03/23/2011 3:55:06 PM PDT by DB9

Today’s moronic quote of the day belongs to Weekly Standard (Weakly Standard?) editor Bill Kristol, and it wasn’t even close. Via CBS News (emphasis mine):

“I have a high regard for Sarah Palin, but I will say I’ve been disappointed since she resigned as governor,” he said. “I thought she had a real chance to take the lead on a few policy issues, do a little more in terms of framing the policy agenda. I don’t think she’s done that."

So, according to this beltway genius, she hasn’t taken the lead on ”policy issues” or helped with “framing the policy agenda”? This is truly a WTF moment. Who led the fight against Obamacare? Whose brilliant “death panels” metaphor for the rationing contained therein framed the debate to the point of almost defeating the bill? If she had had even a little assistance from some of Kristol’s beltway chosen, the bill would have gone down. Which political leader, other than perhaps Obama, is most responsible for the Republican sweep in November? Who led the successful fight against cap and tax? Who flew down to Arizona to stand shoulder to shoulder with Governor Jan Brewer in her fight to force Obama to protect the border? Who has been more vocal in attacking Obama’s disastrous fiscal policies? I could go on, but you get the point. Are these not important policy issues? If not, what are?

If you could, Bill, name one other Republican who has had the fortitude and, yes, the cojones, to take the fight directly to Obama with the effectiveness and tenacity she has over the past two years. In fact there’s nobody even close. Governor Palin has been a constant thorn in Obama’s side since his inauguration, and has been pounding him on practically every issue of importance since she emerged on the national stage. Or am I wrong and I’m confusing Governor Palin with someone else? If that’s the case, Bill, perhaps you’ll enlighten us. If not, shut up and go away. People are free to support any candidate they want, of course, but to say something this detached from reality and, well, profoundly stupid, calls into question everything else you utter or write.

“If you could...... name one other Republican who has had the fortitude and, yes, the cojones, to take the fight directly to Obama with the effectiveness and tenacity she has over the past two years. In fact there’s nobody even close..”

How can it be permissible
She compromise my
principles,
That kind of brain is
mythical
She’s anything but typical
She’s a craze you’d endorse,
she’s a powerful force
You’re obliged to conform
when there’s no other
course.
She used to look good to
me, but now I find her

Simply irresistible

It’s simply unavoidable
The trend is irreversible
The woman’s just invincible

She’s a natural law, and she
leaves us in awe
She deserves the applause, we
surrender because
She used to look good to
me, but now I find her
Simply irresistible
Her methods are inscrutable
The proof is irrefutable,
She’s a craze you’d endorse,
she’s a powerful force
You’re obliged to conform
when there’s no other
course
She used to look good to
me, but now I find her

Simply irresistible

Party politics has always bored me. But I always felt that Palin must be doing something right, seeing how she has the Democrats foaming at the mouth at the very mention of her name. After reading this excellent article, I’m thinking that Palin is much more of a leader than anyone in either party.

You and Kristol have been watching clips of Tina Fey.

Tina Fey is the one on the SNL skits.

Palin is the one who has been standing up to Obama, by herself, on every step he takes in the destruction of this country.

Palin has not only taken the lead on a few policy issues, she has been taking the lead on all policy issues. Proof that Kristol could only have been thinking of Tina Fey when he made these remarks.

I’m a bit skeptical of how long the Weekly Standard can last, having an editor who can’t distinguish between Sarah Palin and Tina Fey.

Every time I see that arrogant, smug face of Bill Kristol, he reminds me of “Joe Izuzu” the phony car salesman in the TV commercials.

Note to Sarah: If you are taking this much flak from the Donkeys and RINOs, you are over the target!

Didn’t Obama resign as a U.S. Senator, even before serving 2 and 1/2 years?

“She was also a pain in Obama’s side before the election. People tend to overlook the fact that the only time McNasty led Obama in the polls was after he named Sarah his choice for VP. They maintained that lead for three weeks until the senile Senator suspended his campaign to return to DC and vote for TARP.”

The dumbest political gimmick I have ever seen. I bet Sarah could just have strangled him at that point. He threw the election away along with his credibility as a candidate.

If only she would listen to Kristol. I’m sure he didn’t advise her to quit as governor.

Bill has been one of the few who hasn't been a sexist bore about Palin. Sorry if that ticks some off but there it is....

BC is being objective and fair. If you want to be a cradling cheerleader you are not helping Palin in the least. Palin can take the criticizing from the left...will she listen to the right? If not..forgetit.

BTW..Listening to Palin on Greta right now. She was criticized for her speech pattern and cadence..and she has corrected it..giving her a real chance to go forward. Criticism is not always a bad thing. She is looking much stronger.

Stay strong Palin.

She listens to the right, she just doesn't particularly listen to the so called "moderates".

Separated at birth?

Thank you,

That was a great response that I will copy and use when my Sarah hating associates bring up the ridiculous and mindless “quitter” attack.

She was really good on Greta. My only complaint - and it is shallow and superficial - is the pitch of her voice. If she had Greta’s voice, Palin would be unstoppable.

Are you saying that you agree with Kristol that Palin has failed to announce her positions clearly, and thereby take the lead in policy framing?

My issue with his statement is that it’s not true.

Right or wrong, she’s stated what she thinks.

I agree...the poor cadence is corrected. The pitch is like fingernails on a chalkboard. Odd how such a detail can sideline a leader....but that's life. I hope someone (non-backstabbing and honest adviser) is paying attention.
