Your body is in a constant battle to maintain its delicate acid alkaline balance. Over acidity can cause a host of diseases and other problems to manifest in the body. This makes a healthy alkaline food diet all the more important for the sick, to adhere to a 20/80 rule acid/alkaline diet. Those suffering from fibromyalgia need to pay close attention to their acid/alkaline balance.
St. Martins Press Your favorite snack or dessert could trigger symptoms of fibromyalgia. Tender pain, fatigue, trouble with memory and digestive problems are just a few of the problems experienced by women with fibromyalgia. But emerging research shows that diet can play a role in stopping the pain. Try these 7 easy steps and see if your symptoms improve

I would like to know if this really works.
A good friend suffers greatly from FM.
She is on so many different meds for it that I don't know how she functions. However, I also know that while she lives in one state, she continues to go to the doctor she had back in another state. I think she's afraid to find a local doctor because she may not get her prescriptions filled by a new one.

“I think she actually enjoys (not the right word but I can’t come up with anything else) it because she uses it all the time. She uses it as an excuse for not going/doing things, she uses it as an excuse for her nasty attitude, etc.”
I’ve often wondered the same thing, based on people I know who (say they) have it. Is it really even “a thing”, or made up?
After 2 hours of testing, he concluded I didn't have Fibromylagia; I had systemic candidas. Candidas is a naturally occuring yeast in our digestive tract that, if impacted by surgery or medications, can grow out of control. It moves though membrane walls and ravages other systems in the body. Systemic candidas and Fibromyalgia share 90% of the same sypmtoms.
I eliminated all sugar, yeast, caffine, chocolate, and fruit from my diet for a period of three months; existing on meat, vegetables, a few nuts, and water. I also purchased Aqua Flora High Potency 9, which addresses all 9 strains of Candidas.
I had relief after 3 days, and have been symptom free since. No more migranes, no more fatigue, no more pain, no more digestive problems. Lost 30 lbs of toxins (standing at almost 5'9", I now weigh 123 lbs.) in under 3 months.
I was a big fruit eater, and loved garlic bread with dinner. It was painful to give them up, but it was life-saving and life-changing.
There is a free "spit test" available on-line that folks can take to see if they have Candidas. This website also shows the diet you should eat. www.aquaflorainc.com. You have to adhere strictly to the diet, and take the High Potentcy 9, but it is worth it.
I now control it through diet only, and have started to introduce foods back into my diet without having my symptoms flair.

As a dietitian I think the recommendations are good for everyone, not just those suffering from FM. Eating a more plant based, Mediterranean Diet (Greek/Italian) is good, sound nutrition advice. Example...Cherries are also affective in managing gout.
However, the idea about alkaline vs. acidity is a bunch of hooey. Your body has a number of feedback mechanisms to stay within a certain pH. It must be between 7.35 - 7.45. Too acidic is bad...too basic is also bad.
Eating healthy shouldn’t be that complicated.
A friend of mine had fibromyalgia badly; can anyone tell me:
1. What are your symptoms?
2. Have you tried Lyrica for it?
3. Has it worked?
I have had fibro for many years. I do not ear sweets, etc. On one of these lists I eat 9 of the 18 listed. Had never heard of a couple on that list. I eat more chicken, etc than red meat. Stress seems to bother me a whole lot more than what kind of food I eat. Oh. And weather. When this area was having those tornadoes and afterwards, I had one of the worst flareups I can remember having. I think people who have this and costo are bothered by many different things Cold weather bothers me. People can look great but be in so much pain that others just can not understand unless they have been there.
I sincerely hope you and the poster above you never ever get this condition. It is terrible. It is real. Just be thankful to God above that you do not have it
I will keep this info for my wife ;-)
Thank you. My diet is like what they say to eat. Baloney. For me, food does not have anything to do with fibro and costo. Like I said in another post, stress and weather have more to do with my flareups than anything else.
I didn’t SAY it doesn’t exist; I ASKed a question. The people I know personally who have it only have outbreaks when it’s convenient for their schedules; I can’t speak for others. I expect that it’s real, but is a diagnosis for doctors to use when they’d rather not put in the effort to do further research. It would be easy to tell someone they have fibromyalgia and move on. Just sayin’.
I went to the dr because I was aching everywhere——inside of my elbows, knee area, upper hips, chest area, etc. He sent me to a specialist who checked all those areas plus others that I never even thought about as being connected to all the others. I also have costochondritis and my dr said that was part if the fibro. Costo is as bad as the fibro. I have a flareup of rhat right now. Told someone on FB that I felt like a linebacker hit me in the chest and upper back area. My dr said I would be ok if I did not have to breathe. : (
Bookmark! Thanks for posting this. My sister also has FM. I am going to send her this today.
If someone is suffering, does it really matter whether it’s a ‘thing’ or not?

“I think she’s afraid to find a local doctor because she may not get her prescriptions filled by a new one. “
Wouldn’t you if it meant enduring significant and debilitating pain?
