The purpose of this website is to expose waste, fraud, and abuse within our food assistance programs. Our intention is not to harass those people who legitimately need help, but to expose those who are committing fraud or abusing this safety net for personal gain at the expense of hard working tax payers.
Our goal is to bring to light and hopefully reduce the abuse occurring with our food assistance programs. In doing so we hope that State food assistance funds will be available to those who truly need the assistance and unavailable for those who do not need it but shamelessly abuse it.
Food Stamp fraud is easy and profitable for a large percentage of regular recipients and it is only getting worse. We have found that just about everybody who has gone grocery shopping has observed someone who is using food stamps in ways other than to provide nutrition to low income people as intended. Dig out the cell phone snap a picture, write up a story and send them to us to publish. This can be done through the Submit button.
All other communication and inquiries can be made through the Contact form.
But this smacks of ‘report on your neighbors’. Didn’t they do this in the USSR?
Report it all you want, nothing will happen because the agencies that administer food stamps aren’t concerned about fraud. Their concern is pure numbers, the bigger the better.
Yes, they did, but about political unreliability. Reporting crime is not the same thing.
Actually, they had people informing on what would be considered criminals to the state.
A tax payer abusing leviathan behind it to promote the greatest usage by as many as possible to keep the system solvent doesn't help either.
How is it easy to get food stamps?
I’ve seen people I assume to be “undocumented citizens” use multiple EBT cards at the self checkout at the grocery stores.
I've met quite a few social workers, and state, county, Fed welfare/benefits people, and you are correct. Their is quite a lot of dead-wood at these agencies - those who couldn't care less about anything. But there are also quite a few "true believers," whose goal is indeed to sign people up, and do whatever is within their power to do so. If they had other lives, some would be quite good salesmen. The more they have signed up, the more it confirms their liberal bias that the rich are exploiting the masses, and that they are fulfilling their heroic mission in life.
“... use multiple EBT cards at the self checkout at the grocery stores.”
Might have a disabled relative that is unable to go to the grocery store, so is buying food on their behalf.
Too often I see presumptions being made with no consideration for the wide world of possibilities of individual circumstances.
I was at the local grocery store last week and some lady with WIC coupons had made some purchases and brought them to the counter and I was behind her.
the cashier had already started the register and then she told the lady that she still had credit on her coupon and she should buy some more items. The lady then walked away and came back with two boxes of cereal. The cashier told her she still had a balance. so then they send the bag boy to bring two more loafs of bread.
still a balance. By now there are four people in line waiting and no one has made a sound. She turns around and says "ya'll getting inpatient is only going to make me slow down". That is when I left the store so I don't know how it ended.
It also enhances their job security. The bigger their agency gets, the more apparent its "need" to exist becomes.
There really are genuine criminals, you know? There are Just Laws that need to be followed in a civilized society unless you just want Anarchy. I would turn in a murderer or a thief and would testify in court against them.
They are harming the whole nation and I/we have to pay for it and I don’t like it.
My mother worked for Head Start for years and wrote grant requests. They wanted numbers wildly inflated.
Yes, I guess you are correct. Like Tea Party Patriots would be considered and treated as criminals if the regime thought they could get away with it.
Two words: Cloward-Piven.
Enroll more and more people in the program. Abuse it any way you can. The idea is to break the bank (ie, ruin the government). It’s a precursor to the marxist revolution. Then the good guys will rule.
(Except that the pigs in charge of the revolution will send the Clowards and Pivens to the glue factory when they’re not needed any more. Orwell got that part right.)
>>Might have a disabled relative that is unable to go to the grocery store, so is buying food on their behalf.<<
Okay, that explains one. How about the rest of the “multiple”?
If you don’t think there is food stamp fraud, perhaps a trip to my neighborhood is in order.
