Ever hear the old proverb, "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime?" It is wise in its simplicity and valuable in its accuracy. It's also a very apt analogy for the difference between President Barack Obama's approach to the current unemployment crisis and that of House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio).

The updated version goes like this:

• Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day.
• Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.
• Give a man a fish from China and you poison him at the same time you incur government debt which you'll have to tax him for.
• Teach a man to fish then invite 12 million illegal Mexicans to fish in his pond and you'll end up putting them all on public assistance.
• Teach a man to fish and then buy all your fish from Chinese who are willing to fish for $2 a day, and don't be surprised when he puts down his pole and asks for help.
• Teach a man to fish then move the lake to China and now you have a fisherman with no place to fish.
• Teach a man to fish then elect a Kenyan as President, and redistribute the man's fish to others, then wonder why he doesn't fish as much.
