A large number of big name conservatives recently came out in support of Michele Bachmann.

Steve Williams at examiner.com did a nice job of piecing together quotes as to why these people want Michele as President of the United States.

Rush Limbaugh - "She's not seeking fundamental transformation of our country. She seeks to uphold the country and the Constitution."

Glenn Beck - "There is somebody I think that is exceptional and truly comes the closest to embodying the spirit of Lincoln or Washington in this field. And I believe that it is Michele Bachmann."

Mark Levin – “If I had to vote right now, I’d vote for Bachmann or Santorum” [having listened to Mark for a long time, I’m confident that if he really had to, he’d choose Bachmann]. Several times in the past month or two.

Peter Schweizer (discussing Congressional insider trading) – “There are some Congresspeople who out of principle do not trade stock. Michelle Bachmann does not trade stock, for example.”

Pamela Geller - As the fog continues to clear, Bachmann stands head and shoulders above her competition. I like how she thinks. And I staunchly support the majority of her positions. She'd be a great president. I want her to win.

“I’ve also heard a number of very favorable comments for Bachmann from El Rushbo, Beck, and Levin.”

Add Steyn to that list.

Maybe she’s got a shot, though the press has had some success at projecting her as incompetent, insane, and ignorant.

Same thing with Reagan. She's in good company.

I live in Texas and have for 60 plus years. I have voted for Perry 3 times, he’s an Aggie and both my kids graduated from A & M. But, previously, on FR, I have taken the position that Perry was not my favorite. Then Palin went away. Now, I’m looking at Gingrich/Romney....Sheesh!!! Both are liberals at heart!

Through it all I’ve been saying to myself and now say to all freepers.............”don’t count ole Perry out.....he’s unshakeable and unflappable and smart”. Right now he is my number 1. I’m betting he is a surprise in Iowa.

Perry is acceptable only if he changes his opinion on illegal immigration (real fence, e-verify and support for state laws).

Imaginary wall is a joke, i.e. fake enforcement so that amnesty part can be passed. Sure, some deviations can be made in certain areas (e.g. river), but in most areas wall must be built. Nothing else will slow down the illegals.

..........Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I should have put a word or two in about that.

Here goes; I have heard Perry recently say that he absolutely guarantees that that border will be completely shut down with a fence all the way, aerial surveilance, troops on the ground and moving half of Napolitano’s bureaucrats down there.

I think that is what 99% of Freepers want, as I do. Coming from Perry I believe it. Coming from Newt Romney I don’t.

The problem Michele has is connecting with the voters. If she cannot connect to the Republican base how is she going to connect with the general populace in the general election? IMHO that is her problem(Ricks to) in a nutshell.

Again IMHO that is Newts strength in being able to connect to the average voter. He gets a question and answers it in a straight forward manner and in a language that the average voter can understand. That is why he does well in the debates. However Newt is being pummeled by the msm, dimoKKKRATS and the Republican establishment who is for Romney.

Rasputin Paul has sent operatives into Iowa to make it appear that he is a mainstream candidate. They are a cult following that worship him, similar to the Heaven's Gate cult and their certifiably insane leader. The hateful Anti-Newt ads being aired are a waste of money and merely reflect the desperation of the RUN Paul fanatics.

This latest bogus poll won't stand. Even Rasmussen has admitted the poll was skewed and probably unreliable. But the nutcases here are running with it like it came from God himself.

TIMEOUT CHILDREN! Let's all take a milk break and nap now.

She’s no Sarah Palin and she will never come close and that smearing of Sarah by Rollins, was her biggest mistake which got her off to a very poor start with a lot of us. Despite winning the Iowa straw poll, she’s been in decline ever since.

I most certainly agree with you on that. She should have fired Rollins immediately, but she didn’t and she didn’t actually apologize.

I met her in person and liked her very much. I don’t know why she’s chosen to be so contentious in the debates. My husband has come to the point where he can’t stand her so he took down the picture of her and me together...LOL.

I never thought about Reagan the way I do about Bachmann.

That’s more my point than what the media says about either.

Ron Paul followers are very much like a cult. College kids and old geezers who think of him in unicorn terms of liberty and freedom, never mind national security or the realities of the real world and its serious dangers.

Let’s be friends with Iran! We are causing the problems!

God Almighty. The man is a dangerous kook.

At this moment, I support Newt over Myth too, but I’d dearly love to see MB start getting some traction, in which case I’d much rather see her as the GOP nominee. It’s still early and plenty of time for Newt to blow up his campaign.

It's thuh CON-stah-TOO-shun stoopud! And most of his cult could not even tell you how the Preamble begins.

God help us if he does win! But then we know, that is a forgone impossibility.

“I don’t know why she’s chosen to be so contentious in the debates.”

I have a friend who is of the opinion that her campaign is the subject of serial sabotage. That may be true, but at the end of the day she is still responsible for her hires and her statements. I really liked Representative Bachmann and donated to her campaign several times. Candidate Bachmann is a stranger to me.

Mine came up Bachmann 56.5% Gingrich 55% Santorum 53%.

Since I believe Bachmann made a fool of herself by running off half-cocked with the Gardasil/Mental Retardation claim the 999/666 and the Newt Romney childish stupidity, I’ll stick with Newt.

I don’t put much stock in these political calculators anyway.

If Debbie Schlussel married John Stossel she would be Debbie Schussel-Stossel.

I had Bachman #1, Santorium #2 and Paul #3 I have always thought she was the best. The one thing that bothered me at all the debates? They chose to put her at the end of the line. I would vote for Perry if I had to.

You know as well as I do, that Bachmann is not all the bright. She would get trounced by Obama. The MSM will run her gaffs around the clock. In fact, they could publish a book on the subject.

Newt is also unlikely to “blow up” his campaign. And you are not very good at misleading your real intentions or agenda. Claiming to support Newt, but seem anxious to see him fail.
