oh, GeronL conflates the end of the world with RE-LEGALIZING recreational drug usage. To read his/her posts on the topic, rape, kiddie porn, murder, acne and hives will all skyrocket if so much as one doper, anywhere in the world, has one LEGAL toke on one joint. He/she’s hilarious that way, though I can’t tell if the humor’s intended or just a byproduct of his/her hyperventilating at the notion of self-ownership and self-responsibility... no matter, the result’s the same: more drug war insanity!

Sorry if I misconstrued-but since you replied publicly instead of privately, I’m betting you dont really mean it.
The WOD is maintained the way it is to enrich the banks (money laundering) the politicians ($ from banks and the cartels) and therefore keep the prices high while playing that they are trying to stop drugs.
Here’s my plan:
Allow anyone to grow weed but only they can use it. No selling, no “giving”. Public caning for selling, increasing blows with each offense.
Same deal with poppies. Let people grow them for personal use.
All other drugs illegal. Sell - execution. Purchase or use (say meth) - public caning. Repeat offenses - execution.
Then anyone who wants to use weed or poppy products can get wasted. Price will drop so no point in risking severe punishment to sell.
Seal border and kill all drug cartel members found in the US. Let the US citizens have the use of National parks and forests again.
People may think it’s harsh but it will work, save taxpayers tons of money, starve whoever is making money with illegal drugs, and if a certain percentage of the US public want to be stupid, they can. Oh, and no welfare, FS, HUD, energy assistance, etc. So the people who want to be stupid with drugs will have to find a way to support themselves which does not include selling drugs.
