My sons and I went up into the foothills here in Idaho on New Year's Eve to celebrate the New Year in our own pecular way...with a Savage Firearms .308 hunting rifle (which needed its scope zeroed in) and my FAL .308 and Rueger Mini-14 .223.

Lot's of fun! Click on the pic or link for the video.

Thanks...making lots of memories and traditions that will outlive me on this earth. And that’s okay, each day is a blessing and I am glad to be able to continue those efforts as long as I can, in God’s will!

Great video Jeff, looks like it was a lot of fun indeed.

How long have you had your FAL and how do you like it?

Do you guys reload your own ammo?

P.S. I must have missed the part of the video/post about how many of those targets you hit! LOL

Happy New Year!

I live near Ft. Hood. For the Fourth of July fireworks were banned in most Texas counties, all of them anywhere nearby due to extreme drought. December saw quite a bit of rain, and since Texas allows fireworks sales for New Years, there were lots of fireworks here, despite them being illegl in most cities. (I live in such a city). But while saw lots of fireworks, I saw no flashing lights and heard no sirens.

I will admit, it was a bit odd watching fireworks with a cold wind in my face, since where I’m from there are no fireworks sales for New Years. (Not that you don’t here a few there anyway).

Love the FAL. Have had it since 1991...so over 20 years now.

I used to load my own but asold all the stuff about 12 years ago.

We hit all of the targets. I was able to hit mine with the open sights of the FAL. The boys plugged all the others with the Savage, though I believe Jeff also got one open sighted with the Mini-14.

We will do things sometimes like two of us taking up different, spread positions, point out where potential belligerents are, and then work at providing covering/supressing fire to keep them down whil others work at flanking manuevers.

Thanks amom! And God bless you and so many others for your faith and prayers on behalf of me and my family!

Words are inadequate...all we can do is our best to help others in need whenever and wherever we can to pass on the blessing.

May He return it to you and yours 10 fold!

Oh, by the way, the shooting was a real blast (so to speak), me and my sons had a lot of fun.

When I lived in Texas, near Ft Worth, in the 90’s, I used to set off rockets whenever the Cowboys scored...no one bothered me and most of my neighbors were supportive with cheers.

St Augustine used to have a very liberal policy about fireworks on the beach till about two years ago when they said they would “crack down” meaning you got a ticket or got hauled away. The last two 4ths were very mundane.

I am tired of the government leading my life for me from toilets to electric bulbs to fireworks to MPGs on cars. Funny, wherever I look at the constitution, I fail to see anything that promotes this level of oversight. In fact, unless it specifically says you can do it now, there is a law that says you cannot, not the other way around.

O turd told us before he took office the constitution needed to say what the government can do for you rather than having what the government cannot do to you. I guess that is one promise he has kept. Of course, he is not alone, the RINOs and squishes seem to favor the big government approach and if one does not believe that, just look at what the GOP is set to run as its candidate.
