Americans cheered Gen. Patton when he urinated on the enemy

The last soldier I heard of urinating on the enemy was Gen. George S. Patton. Should the general, who, as much as any other, was responsible for defeating the Nazis, have been driven from the military for such an act? You’d think so from the hysteric response building in the mainstream and Left-leaning press to a video allegedly showing marines urinating on dead Taliban fighters. Presuming it’s authentic, such reaction is absurd.

We send these young men out to kill and maim their enemy. That means snuffing out their life, with all the heartbreak and tragedy involved. They usually do this with bullets that rip and tear; or larger projectiles like grenades, artillery shells, or air-dropped bombs which can shred or disintegrate a body. Often fire is involved. Is urinating on a dead body worse?

Yet as I write, I can feel the hope and purpose in a headline like AOL-Huffington Post’s, “Outrage over Purported Marine Video: A shocking video that allegedly shows American soldiers performing a ‘disgusting’ act sparks a US Marine Corps investigation.” It’s already tagged under “atrocities” and “war crimes.” What the headline writers are really saying is, “Oh please, please, another Mai Lai Massacre type scandal like in Vietnam. Well, we know it’s not going to be that big, but we can again throw bad light on the US military, which we basically hate and fear and are mad at for doing all the bad things they do.”

Of course they’ve gone to the Council on American-Islamic Relations for comment. As if they didn’t know they’d get a condemnation. But did they balance it with someone at war with the Taliban? Not a chance. And the statement says, “The video shows behavior…totally unbecoming of American military personnel and that would ultimately endanger other soldiers and civilians.”

It’s so predictable, petty, and blown out of proportion by a media that largely knows nothing of the battlefield and why a crude but ultimately innocuous act like this might happen. What do they expect in war? Tea and crumpets and the Marquess of Queensbury rules? War is hell. Most of those fighting it are young, usually 18 to 22. They are inexperienced. They are sent to deserts and other uninhabitable places with stinging insects, maddening heat and sanitary conditions the Left would be screaming was child abuse. They forge a bond with each other few peacetime friendships can ever hope to equal. They have to. It’s the only way to get through. And some of them, if not more, see that bonded friend killed or mutilated as only war can do it.

Updated Kipling, I think it works, only wish I was young enough to help. Sucks to get older.

While Patton was leading the battles in WW2 the Marxist invited here by a certain university were invading our education system including the military academies following WW2. The result was kinder, gentler, {on our side as such only} wars we would not win.

Indeed. They've been very successful too, but they haven't extinguished the heart of patriotism in this country. Not by a long shot. Let the SHTF, and it will rebound with a fury, and exterminate every last vestige of treason and Marxism that infects us.

In fact, the more the Marxists push their alien agenda upon us, the more they ensure the eventual cleansing of their immoral and destructive pestilence from our society.

I think it does. I'll bet every soldier and Marine over there would approve.

only wish I was young enough to help.

I'm sure you've already helped plenty. Thank you for your service, Marine.

I remember hearing about it and calling my friends here in TX, hoping that they were ok

My mother saw the news before I got back on post and had my brother call me. He called my cell, which was on my desk rather than on my belt where it belonged. Meanwhile, my wife, who lives about 4 hours away, was on my cell phone with my office mates when I walked in the door. They had no clue where I was. And everyone was surprised to see me, because they thought the place was locked down. Apparently at least one gate guard didn't get the word, although he knew of the incident 2-3 miles away from his post. The folks in the office had already been told to stay inside.

thank you, our job is to see that our troops are not thrown under the bus. Our job is to bring hell to D.C. and restore the Republic. G*d how I wish we had a leader here at home. I hate the Marxist media, I hate how whenever a patriot stands up they are torn down. I still have hope, but it is fading.

Love it! You are FR’s war historian, and much more.

BTW, this might sound badly, but I’m glad he’s gone. He was a traitor.

One down...lol

The proper process these days is to collect the urine into a plastic bag, and then drop it from a drone over the target.

Sounds like a liberal's idea of a war crime. Or, is that how they propose we fight our wars going forward? Maybe throw in some pea shooters and spit balls too?

Indeed it is. Keep fighting in any way you can - even if it's only to correct some liberal moron on Facebook, or the comments section of an article. Communicate your needs and wants to your reps in Washington - even if you think they're not listening - they are.

Never lose hope. Your fellow Freepers are here for you, if you ever need a lift in your spirits. We're gonna get our country back, but not without a fight.

“But, if your buddy was killed by these inhuman Talaban oppressors, you might be tempted to act viciously in response too.”

Exactly. Some pundit or other said such things as our soldiers pissing on taliban dead would “provoke a response”. I wondered at the time, given the savage God-less nature of the Taliban, if our soldier THEMSELVES were not “provked” andtthat this was the “response” No one seems to have looked into this.

What those Marines did is a disgrace to the Corps, not to mention the Taliban who died.

There is no honor in what they did. Am I glad those Taliban SOBs are dead? Absolutely - but I am saddened at the actions of these Marines.

In WWI, fliers such as Baron Von Richtofen were accorded decency and respect in death by the Allies until his body could be given to the Germans. The Germans reciprocated.

In the Battle of Leyte Gulf, after the USS Johnston sank, the Japanese gave her men compassion. The Johnston was a destroyer that pestered the Japanese battleship flotilla until she was overwhelmed and lost.

The men of the Johnston in the water were given canned rations and bottled water thrown by Japanese sailors of the flotilla. One Japanese officer stood at attention and saluted Captain Ernest Evans of the Johnston for bravery.

Captain Evans succumbed to his injuries and was lost to the sea. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor pothsumously ...

If we’re going to pontificate on relative evils between foes, let us ask whether or not King George’s army considered our rag-tag gang of “terrorists” worse than the Taliban, and took a moment to piss on their corpses, too. I have a hard time believing the 40’s generation would be prone to cheer either way.
