I do have a mild disagreement with NumbersUSA on their goal to reduce overall immigration.
The numbers of immigrants we admit are far less important than the quality.
For instance, we could automatically admit every white farmer from Zimbabwe and it would be a plus to the country without even considering the numbers. These people know how to grow things, fix things and bring skills which would virtually assure they would contribute to the economy without regard to numbers.
OTOH, you might find some potentially great Americans in your average sandbox refugee from Krapistan, but it would be like finding a diamond ring in a manure pile.
So the focus shouldn't be on reducing numbers of immigrants, it should be on improving quality. A focus on quality will automatically reduce numbers. But then, of course, we'd have to lose the diversity shtick.
Pride cometh before a fall.
You have a lisp?
If I remember correctly that is not what he said. Could you show the quote of that?
That is a scary thought(but I feel the same)... just hope that’s not the case.
I’m not looking for a minister in chief nor is the majority of the country and you have ignored all that Newt did that led up to the ethics charges and the loss of the gavel. You can’t impeach the president without making a few enemies. You can’t have conservative victory after conservative victory without making a few enemies. You can’t end a 40 year democratic grip on the house wirhout making enemies. Newt made a lot of enemies as he advanced conservatism in this country and I’ll not begrudge him for it. By the way, he served as the republican leader of Georgia’s 6th district for 20 years. That’s 10 succesful election campaigns. How many succesful election campaigns does Santorum have under his belt? two, and one of those(1994) he can thank Gingrich for. Finally, Santorum does not have higher favorability ratings than Gingrich.
There are historical precedents for losing all kinds of elections and then winning the Presidency.
A. Lincoln was one of the people who did that, IIRC. :)
And you have the right to your opinion, as I have the right to mine that he does.
As for now, America is still America......though it's changing so fast it may not be if we don't get Obama out of office.
You'll get no argument from me there. Newt is clearly a smart guy and a great idea man.
A lot of Americans (including me) actually welcome political leadership which is smarter than the average bear as long as they are morally grounded. That's a big if in the case of Newt. A lot of us just are not sure if he is morally grounded or just on a giant ego trip. His call for all other competitors to drop out only heightens those suspicions. It is not a smart move.
Santorum, OTOH, while not quite as intelligent as Newt, is certainly quite intelligent. There is also little doubt as to his moral grounding.
Obama is a prime example of superb intelligence without moral grounding. I know we can rightfully make fun of his lack of ability to speak without a teleprompter, but in the science of agitation, conquest by division and operating a criminal enterprise, he is second in intelligence to none. He has moral grounding, but in the crackpot theories of Rev. Wright and Bill Ayers. You've got to give him credit for getting quite likable people like Oprah Winfrey to back him. Not all of his supporters are evil. Many, perhaps even most, are simply deceived by his pleasant packaging.
This is why intelligence alone, while important, will not defeat him. You need the right combination of intelligence and righteousness. Newt has the former in spades, but is seriously lacking in the later. Maybe he has changed. I will take that chance and vote for him in a heartbeat if he is the last man standing. But not now.
Romney knew who the only real threat was and spent millions on attack adds against that threat which certainly helped santorum. and let’s not forget, Iowa and NH were overwhelmingly blue states in 2008. Is it surprising that Romney did so well in those states? And the fact that he was in a statistical tie with Gingrich for 4th in NH isn’t really something you can brag about, especially among conservatives who really don’t care about NH.
Getting "down in the gutter" to take on the enemy is not SELLING OUT conservative principles to the highest bidder. Newtards may wish to brush them off as "mistakes" as Newt has, but that dog don't hunt....
What an "establishment" sell-out looks like:
Two peas in a pod...."Hey, can I borrow your intern?"
Newt: "Hillary Is the Most Effective Candidate", "Hillary shows courage, integrity", "Hillary Clinton Terrific Defense Secretary"
Aww...they make such a cute couple...
Newt, the understudy of the shake-down artist...Newt says: "I gotta get a gig like this cat!"
Cozing up to the LIEberals again, Newt? Every one of these dip$hit$ think they're the smartest guy in the room.
What else does Newt do in his "spare time"??? He's been very busy: pushing for ethanol subsidies, government-mandated healthcare, medicare drug benefit, TARP, Gorebull warming, expanded government involvement in education and other "reforms" all the DUmocrats wanted to get passed.
Newt may be alot of things...but he NOT a REAGAN CONSERVATIVE.
Love Thy Enemy: Newt Says Romney a Possible VP Pick
Newt Gingrich has at least one name on his list of potential running mates: GOP rival Mitt Romney.
“I think Mitt Romney is a very admirable person, and I’m not going to pick a fight with Mitt Romney,” Gingrich said in an interview Wednesday with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.??When asked if he would ever ask Romney to be his vice presidential nominee, Gingrich didn’t mince words.
“I think the consensus is that he’d certainly be on the list, whether he’d want to or not,” Gingrich said. “He’s a very competent person. This is a very serious man. I would certainly support him if he became the Republican nominee.”

Good post.
wrong. it does mean something when you’re discussing conservative credibility. Newt was never a democrat and he never tried to get a liberal democrat elected as President unlike Rick Perry. Newt always ran as a conservative republican even when Georgia was still predominantly democrat and it meant losing.
That pretty well sums up how I feel. Lost all enthusiasm when Cain backed out - also disappointed in him personally although I try to tell myself those allegations were upsetting his wife but I'm not sure they weren't true.
I'm liking Perry more and more each day but probably too little too late, he can't win, Newt's okay - I'll go to the polls and do my duty but my enthusiasm is gone.
Newt is terribly arrogant and I'm not happy about his immigration stance at all but he's one hell of a debater. Obama/Holder out at all costs.
And why on earth would you want to bring back the draft? lol, I like having people in the military who want to be there.
You apparently have not done your research then.
Perry is getting his butt kicked in every race. he has no path to victory unlike the “has been hack”. Perry is wasting his time and money and he’s only helping Mitt Romney.
And Newt’s wife creeps me out, she has a very “Stepford wife” look about her, there is not one hair on her head that is out of place and she has a funny look in her eye, I think she might be plastic.... :)
When you have been a politician for 20 years, you get your picture taken with lots of people including democrats. So what? Newt is definitely a Reagan Conservative and you’re a liar or a fool for suggesting otherwise.

Gingrich was Southern Regional Director of the Nelson Rockefeller Presidential campaign in 1968.
1966-1970
Tulane University, New Orleans. Newt gets a Ph.D. in history (1971) , although he prefers politics to academics. His thesis on education in the Belgian Congo is “nothing earth-shattering” and is never published. At Tulane, he indulges in mild counter-culture behavior, including a protest against the administration for banning “obscene” photos in the school paper. He becomes a fan of Alvin and Heidi Toffler and experiments with marijuana. Gets draft deferment because of school and children (flat feet and near-sightedness also probably would have kept him out).
Campaigns in 1968 for Nelson Rockefeller. Newt tells his Tulane thesis advisor that he wants a teaching job in Georgia to launch his political career.
