Time to go
Self | 1/19/2012 | Self

Time has come for me to leave the chaos of FreeRepublic.

Over the past 13 years I always felt that FR was the home of Conservatives with core values that could not be compromised. This election cycle has shown me that I have been wrong in my assessment.

The lack of moral or intellectual commitment by many of the FR members has resulted in the end of my involvement.

I'm sure JR and many others are pleased but know that the early years were great experiences.

God Bless to all and enjoy the next 4 years of Obama.

” - - - when any one would disagree with you, and used facts and logic - - - “

Ouch! That must really hurt marty60!!

Facts and logic are the LAST things we need in The United States of America! Thanks for pointing that out to us.

BTW, have you found your polarized glasses yet?

Marty,
You’ve reach a milestone on your development as a conservative activist, Texas division. What you are feeling is normal. When people reach this stage, it is advisable for them to take a PAID JOB on a campaign. Enough of the volunteer crap!

And be sure to include on your resume your years here at Freeper. An experience that could never be duplicated.

I hear Newt2012 is hiring.

Yeah, I’ve tried that also. You’ll have anxiety attacks for not being able to let loose and express yourself.

No matter what some here say, you still have a voice.

Please stay.

You are another who wasn't here when FR was in its heyday so you don't have a clue how things have deteriorated around here.

Before 2000, people could actually think for themselves and weren't attacked for not being a group thinker.

I doubt it — they don’t seem to be too concerned by the tea-party surge last time.

I couldn't care less about mary60, she was a long time whiner.

The fact that anyone has been at FR for a long period of time, only means that they showed up early, it doesn't give them any additional standing.

If he had any guts, he'd fight harder, not cry about how bad every "noobie" is at FR and how great it was "in the good old days".

How anyone from Texas could be such a cry baby, he must have relatives that were on the outside of the Alamo.

I hope he enjoys lucianne where the house rules will fit his delicate sensibilities.

Texacan Mook.

Don’t go, Marty! I like you. I don’t always agree with you, but I like you.

It is true that the Clinton gang was after individual FReepers. Frankly, they still are, except now, they work for 0bama.

I will say that weekends are a bit nasty around here. I have come to think of it as letting off steam and alcohol processing time.

So, don’t go away mad.

I hope Newt adopts Perry’s platform because I really supported Perry’s reform ideas. I hope Perry is in Newt’s administration.

Politics is very frustrating. I hope you will forgive us our emotional excesses and come back after you cool down, Marty. No one is perfect - we are born that way. Especiallly not conservatives. We have yet to put up the perfect candidate. Jesus won’t run for President. But I pray he influences and guides whoever does.

Over the past 13 years I always felt that FR was the home of Conservatives with core values that could not be compromised

I could have told you THAT was a mistake a long time ago. Nobody is immune from compromise.

I know you were a steadfast Perry supporter, and I certainly thought he was the best conservative who was still around in the race, so I understand where you are coming from. But remember that Perry didn't lose support beause of what people said here at FR, he didn't drop out because of what freepers were doing, and in the end politics here is more about internal debate and horseplay than really effecting elections.

Beyond that, remember that written communication is not natural for humans, and it is fraught with problems. We don't get the necessary feedback we need to supress our natural, fallen tendency to be bitter, angry, spiteful, and hate-filled. It takes great self-control to be civilized, and the anonymous non-visual, non-verbal communication prevents the real-time feedback that decent people use to gauge their words and realize they are letting their sinful nature get the better of them.

Don't lose hope -- I am still convinced that MOST of the freepers, even those who are most vile, would not say what they say here to people's faces, because in the end they are "decent" people in the real world, just not here.

I fear for the next generation though -- they have no practice with filtering, and have often been convinced that brutal "honesty" is actually an admirable trait. A couple of years unemployed and friendless might prove to them otherwise.

Hate to see a long timer go, but I understand. This is definitely a frustrating primary. The truth is, if Obama wins, it will be because the Economy will have improved by election day, thats really the bottom line.

Wasn't Willie Green class of '98? And wasn't he famous for calling anyone who disagreed with socialist, statist, choo-choo train posts him a noob? There are an infinite range of reasons to condemn or congratulate a FReeper. Born on dates just shouldn't figure into it one way or the other. Brilliant is brilliant even if it is the persons first post. Stupid is stupid no matter how long you have been posting it.

Gingrich/Perry is a strong possibility...

Gingrich understand he will now be in a all out bloodfest with Romney and the Establishment.

Perry brings organization across the country and a financial network that is huge. Also, Perry is a conservative and Gingrich is just the type to go against the “you have to balance the ticket out with a moderate”.

Gingrich/Perry 2012 .... Perry/Rubio 2020

that the early years were great experiences.

I hear ya. Those were the days indeed.

I've made so many FRiends over the years here. Unfortunately, only a little more than a handful of them remain on FR today.

Hope you'll reconsider. Take care...

“Complain about Romney, complain about Gingrich but if you don’t place a vote for the GOP candidate in November IT IS YOUR FAULT that Obama gets re-elected.”

And here is the attitude that is part of the problem.

There is no way in hell I’ll vote for Gingrich or Romney. If they are nominated, an Obama victory lies solely with the GOP (as an aside, I probably wouldn’t have voted for Perry either), not an individual voter who is exercising his right to vote as he sees fit.
