Paul To Skip Florida, Look For Delegates In Nevada, Minnesota [Helps Gingrich?]

January 21, 2012 Paul To Skip Florida, Look For Delegates In Nevada, Minnesota

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Ron Paul will not compete in Florida’s Republican primary, instead focusing on the caucus states of Nevada and Minnesota.

In his victory speech Saturday night after finishing fourth in the South Carolina primary, Paul told supporters he would promote his message as cheaply as possible.

“We will certainly be promoting this in the most frugal way,” he said. “We will be going to the caucus states, and we will be promoting the whole idea of getting more delegates, because that’s the name of the game.”

The campaign has made substantial ad buys in Nevada and Minnesota, both states with February caucuses. Florida is the largest of the early primary states and arguably the most grueling early state in which to campaign. It also has some of the most expensive media markets in America.

The cash-flush Mitt Romney is already running ads there. And Newt Gingrich, though he won the South Carolina primary decisively, is expected to face serious challenges in organizing a strong Florida campaign.

Yes, Florida has only half the delegates it used to have. It’s still important to win here, of course, but we don’t have the delegate clout of earlier days.

“Will it help Gingrich? If there are any conservatives in the bunch, it is likely but most of Pauls supporters fall into the Libertarian bunch so who knows?”

That’s the big question. I tend to think that it will help out a bit. I figure that the Establishment voters are already in Romney’s camp, while the non-Establishment voters are up for grabs...and if that’s true, Newt gets helped.

Paul knows Fla is a closed primary. NO Dems may vote.

Paul also knows very few Republicans have been voting for Him.

Therefore Paul stays out of Fla where he know he will lose badly. Save the Ammo(cash) for the more Liberal state caucuses where he can cause the most damage.

In his victory speech Saturday night after finishing fourth in the South Carolina primary,

Victory Speech?? 4th place??
That is a very LIBERAL interpretation of victory!

I read somewhere on FR that 51% of Huntsman voters in NH were actually Obama supporters.

I guess RP could be the guy they use now.

It works quite well for Nevada. Sanctimonious pecksniffery doesn’t go down well in Nevada. Never has.

All that Paul wants is a prime-time speech to screech his bilge and pass the torch to his son.

He never threw in the towel in the last election even after McCain won the nomination. It’s all about him, not this country.

Ron Paul reminds me of the little character in the old Superman comic books who had a long name made up of jumbled letters that you couldn’t pronounce. He would always show up and stir up trouble for Superman. I forget the trick that had to be employed to make him go away, but it had something to do with saying his name. Maybe if we say Ron Paul’s name 3 times, do you think he would disappear?

Nevada ... is Harry Reid's son still in charge of the Voting Machines? Is there a Ron Paul / Harry Reid connection?

Follow the money and the marijuana.

Minnesota may backfire on him ... if it's Michele Bachmann Country, it could well be Rick Santorum "Reagan before he was REAGAN" Country, too.

Ron Paul should pack it up. He's the Marijuana smokin' Ross Perot of politics. Messes it up just to mess it up. What we call a spoiler. AND a spoiled brat.

He's a MALE GYN ... Moslems will probably put a FATWAH on him for daring to touch WOMEN ... but not until AFTER he's spewed more anti-Israel venom.

REMEMBER ... whenever Newt says "let me make this perfectly clear" he's using the same Clinton phrase [an Alinsky Tactic right out of Rules for Radicals] and when Bill Clinton used it, 'you all' had the reaction that Bill Clinton was lying through his teeth. Y'all want to believe in Gingrich so much that you don't look at the whole man ... the whole cloth of the man. Chris Christie is correct when he says Gingrich is an embarrassment to the GOP.

If a Football Coach is caught molesting players, are his actions ignored because a group of supporters believe he's a great coach, great speaker, great motivator?

Then WHY are 'y'all' so gung ho for Newt Gingrich?
He's a womanizer ... and he'll make it perfectly clear [Alinsky Tactic] that he's not ... but Georgia residents know what he is ... he smooth talks the young women volunteers ... he did it with many before Marianne and he did it while married to Marianne and he used his mesmerizing ways with women volunteers with Calista ... and she won't be the last. LOOK AT HER when she thinks she's off camera ... her stress is already showing ... she's not a "Jackie look alike" because Jackie Kennedy never allowed the stress to show. Me thinks the "Jackie Look Alike" Newt Gingrich was hinting at when he spoke of Calista was Jackie's ability to ignore and hide John F Kennedy's 'quirks' until AFTER he passed away ... ?

The only truly virtuous man left in this GOP race is Rick Santorum. He may well be the 'dark horse' and the "Reagan before he was REAGAN candidate." Take another look. Santorum is not the 'perfect' candidate, but then, even Reagan was considered imperfect until he became RONALDUS MAGNUS REAGAN.

FYI Huntsman is a relative of Romney. The Huntsman fortune is intertwined with Romney’s Bain. IMO Huntsman was a “straw” candidate to keep the ABR crowd from supporting another candidate. Think he would have won if Huntsman was not on the ballot?

He’s skipping FLA so he can hang on to as much campaign money as he can. Reason being so he can live off the money after the election. He’ll say its for political stuff but we all know its a scam. Legal scam but a scam nonetheless....

Yep. Restocks his 'war chest' every four years.

His supporters are so stupid and RP loves it!

We don't nedd a "truly virtuous" candidate. We need a fightin' scrappin' one that will throw stones right back at the folks throwing at him.

Take another look.

No thanks.

>>Does this mean he’ll skip the Florida debates?<<

He said last night that he would be participating in the debates. I don’t think Romney has committed to them tho.

Newt is the only bull dog to go up against Obama, the media, and the establishment. We need a fighter not a whiner.

Well, now you have less delegates than Georgia, Michigan or Ohio, correct?

This should put a lot less importance on winning the state, yet the media seems to be touting it as a must-win.
