If Romney wins Tuesday and garners the nomination, should the Tea Party field a candidate?

It's looking more and more like the RINO, country club, elitist attacks on Newt Gingrich are having their intended effect and that Mitt Romney will win in Florida and possibly take the Republican nomination. I don't know about you, but I'm up to **here** with the "lesser of two evils" nonsense and I very much doubt that Mitt will choose Sarah Palin or someone like her as his VP.

What to do, then? I'm open to any and all suggestions.

Santorum ahs no money and less than half Newt’s polling numbers...he would have to trounce Mitt and Newt...not likely

it’s not that conservatives won’t support Santorum it’s just that he is a long shot with poor odds

Newt is at least 50/50

and this is likely the Alamo for the losers....unless it’s Mitt who has the cash to go on forever

what did he spend of his own money in 2008?

25 million or so...maybe more

and he has obviously 90% of all the public faces that pretend to be “conservatives”

were Santorum not in the race ...Romney would be in possibly DOA

seekthetruth and other FReepers are attendiong Newt’s events, and seeing folks turned away. His events are jammed packed!

Newt is appearing with US Representative West tomorrow or on voting day! Keep the faith!!!

Im not voting for Willard $50Abortion Romney so I would like an option if he gets the nomination. I’d even be willing to support Ron Paul as a third party candidate.

nobody has ever spent five seconds attacking Santorum or his record in these debates.. awful easy to look good in a debate where nobody but you does the attacking because you are no threat to win another primary... if Gingrich drops out it’s because Romney ran the board on the delegate count which puts Santorum where?.. oblivion where he is now

the fact is it’s either Gingrich or Romney this election

Florida lost half its delegates because it decided to hold its primary early. It'll send less delegates than Georgia, Michigan or Ohio to the convention.

Newt needs to win this, but it isn't make or break for him.

No, it isn't time for the Tea Party to field a candidate, and the candidates available to the Tea Party will have the stature of James Stockdale or Steve Kubby.

No elected conservative Republican will jump ship this election. The only alternative to Obama will be the GOP nominee.

Why should i give up like some on this thread? I thought the objective here is to get rid of the kenyan klown? I heard the same comments 4 years ago when McLame became the GOP candidate in the end “oh I will stay home” blah blah.

You've gained nothing and lost every chance of the GOP ever being a limited-government, social, fiscal, and military conservative organization during your lifetime if Romney is the candidate.

He destroyed the Massachusetts GOP; he will do the same to the National Party.

He is a complete Pretender where conservatism is concerned.

If by some miracle he was actually able to win the General Election, he would turn on a dime and all of his conservative promises would disappear and we would be left with the real Romney, the one that governed Massachussetts.

If Romney is the nominee, the GOP is dead.

Time to move on from the stinking carcass, and much like when the GOP was first formed out of the decaying body of the WHIGS, start a new conservative party.

LOL exactly.. Santorum is the one who has already imploded and should get out if he cares about the country and any prospect for future political considerations

If you think that GWB == Newt, you haven't been paying attention.

At least GWB was a social conservative, Mitt is not.

He is still supportive of Gay Rights, the repeal of DADT, and his abortion position is not sincere.

You echo my sentiments to a tee. For the first time in my 52 years I see NO hope for the GOP. If it is willing to be complicit in something like the Mitt Romney slime machine, the party is just sick to its very core.

I actually look forward to Mitt losing to Obama. I won’t vote for BO of course - but I do look forward to hearing Ann Coulter explain away the loss. And to her next book debuting at #8357 on the NYT Best-Sellers list.

I also look forward to Meghan McCain signing on as the New York Times token conservative columnist when David Brooks resigns to become Barack Obama’s Press Secretary.

Thanks you, but that’ll be so damn sad and pathetic. No enthusiams.

It’ll be gone, baby gone.

I despise Romney. I will not vote for him.

I’ll cast my ballot “write-in” for Sarah Palin, which is permitted here in Mississippi.

If the old adage is true, that says “timing is everything” then this is NOT the time for 1-percenter Romney!

He will never connect with average voters. He’s a phoney and he’s stiff, -— he can’t fell the pain of the unemployed.

Plus his LDS religion doesn’t play well here in the Southern Baptist South “at all.” Wait till the media start running documentaries on Mormons, and Polygamy.

Florida isn't a must-win. They lost half their delegates for holding an early primary.

Don't let the media spin this primary past its real worth. If Romney wins, they'll say it was a must-win for Newt. If Newt wins, they'll play up the lost-delegates angle, saying the value of the state is diminished.

Don't fall for it.

I’ve been on Twitter saying pretty much the same thing. This is the last gasp of the GOPE, the GOPElite, they just don’t realize how badly they’ve damaged themselves. A third party is pretty much guaranteed if Romney gets the nomination.

Newt is still drawing thousands while mitt is drawing huundeds or less. mitt is as thoroughly unlikeable as any man wearing skin I have ever seen and it shows.
He might have given a few good stump answers during the debate tonight, but they were insincere and do not comport with his world view nor his religious views.
For instance, Mormons have been baptizing dead Jews for many years even though we have repeatedly asked them to desist from this practice. So his newfound love for Jews and Israel is more or less a crock.
Further, bain and its partners do love shariah banking and all that it entails.
mitt, if anything, is even more ‘quirky’ than Newt, a plasticc man with a plasric soul. This is something that cannot be hidden for very long.
And don’t sell Newt short. Anyone with half a brain can see what is going on.
If Sarah begins to speak about what mitt and his minions have done to her, it is over. I note she is already becoming angry at the array of establishment forces libed up against Newt, and I don’t think she will stay quiet much longer.

Not yet, but West sure talks glowingly about him. I wish he would have endorsed him.

I’m pretty much disappointed in Sarah Palin.

She needed to endorse him for Florida too.

I see where she stuck up for him again, but “Come On”!
