Santorum Suggests Obama Beats an *Etch A Sketch* Candidate

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Rick Santorum played off of the Mitt Romney campaign’s Etch A Sketch gaffe today when he told an audience that the country might be better off with President Obama than with a candidate who will shift his positions with ease and who he believes is not very different from the president.

“You win by giving people a choice. You win by giving people the opportunity to see a different vision for our country, not someone who’s just going to be a little different than the person in there. If you’re going to be a little different, we might as well stay with what we have instead of taking a risk with what may be the Etch A Sketch candidate of the future,” Santorum told a crowd at USAA.

During a press avail following the event, Santorum, who carried the Etch A Sketch during his speech, argued that Romney knows he can’t win in the general election.

“All the things that allow Romney to win the primary are unavailable to him to win the general and that’s why you see these Etch A Sketch comments because he knows he can’t win,” said Santorum.

As he spoke to a crowd which included people standing on other levels peering over the ledge to hear him, Santorum stressed the weight the Texas primary will carry on the overall race, saying the race will continue through Texas, whose large delegate count of 155 offers him the “opportunity to reset this race.”

Romney is an utterly detestable opportunist with no core, but is he worse than a radical Marxist? In a Romney vs. Obama contest, seems it's a question of which one is the "evil of the lessers."

Faced with such a choice, I would write in Sarah Palin's name. Hope it doesn't come down to that.

Faced with a choice between Romney and Obama, I choose not to ride in either handbasket.

Santorum was simply using hyperbole in attacking Romney—if anyone thinks Rick would actually vote for Obama over Mitt then they are way to used to hearing only what they want to hear..

Sarah Palin doesn't want your vote. If you told her you were going to do that she'd probably say you were acting silly.

This is akin to someone going before a firing squad and being told that he has two choices: to be shot with either pink bullets or blue bullets. Then a crowd gathers and says that it is important to choose the blue bullets.

The world is going bonkers.

I fail to see much difference. Romney will lose anyway because he’s concentrating on Obama strongholds and telling the base to screw ourselves. And then he’ll move to the middle and situate himself somewhere between Hillary Clinton and Barrack Obama.

No one should vote for ANY TICKET that has the liar Romney
on it. We will work against Romney, just like Obama.

I will never vote for either one of them. Never.

If Romney is nominated, then, as I’ve said before, I think we need to get the conservatives together and agree on a single write-in candidate.

Whether we can agree to agree, I don’t know. The insults on these nominating threads have been very discouraging, and the same was true last time around.

Possibly someone like Sarah could lead a gathering who would choose one candidate. My preference would be Sarah herself, but the important thing is that we need a strong and reliable conservative whom we can all agree on. And if the libertarians and moral conservatives can’t get together on it, then we are cooked.

I would vote for Sponge Bob if he got the nod at this point. I suggest you far right thinkers remember what the “I’ll take my ball and go home” approach did for you last election. As bad as things are Mitt can’t swing very far left, period. I’m also sick of the etch a sketch thing we all know primary and general campaigns are far different than each other no matter who gets the nomination. The Dems are good, their operatives run the press and this attitude is exactly what they want. Break the right’s will, suck the energy out of our sails. Let us not forget the senate will ride this same wind and if you think the potus has been bad so far wait till term #2. I can’t remember her name but today a Lady on FOX said “Romney isn’t dangerous, not great, but not dangerous” or something of the like. She is correct.

At least with Zero, the GOP might choose to fight purely based upon partisanship. Romney will govern the same as Zero (socialized healthcare, gun control, cap&trade, etc)....except this time the weak knee’d GOP leadership will fully embrace his liberal agenda. A Romney Presidency does more damage to conservatism and the country, than a split govt...even with Zero at the helm.

I will never vote for Romney/Zero.

Are you a "far left thinker"? Have you already forgotten what choosing Cain did for you in the last election cycle? Even Palin could not drag his sorry butt over the finish line ahead of Obama. And Romney was a 3rd place loser to him. I stand with my fellow Tea Party patriots shouting "Can you hear us now?" at the powers that be. Running with Romney is just the GOP elite ignoring us once again. Time for a refresher course. Keep your powder dry.

I guess it all depends on how you define “dangerous”.

If you don't consider Obamacare (aka a bigger Central Government), a progressive tax code or Cap and Trade dangerous, then you're right.

Here's the real danger....We, as Conservatives, actually represent a plurality of voters (according to polls). I believe that we actually represent a majority of the population. With either one of these guys elected, we will not have representation, that is, a majority of the Country will not be represented. What would you call a Country as such? Certainly not a Democracy or a Republic.

With Mitt America is in trouble, but might survive. With Obama, America is finished.

If you see both of those as equal, shame on you. You are part of the problem.

Us far-right thinkers were uniformly enthused by McCain's selection of Palin as Veep.

And uniformly distressed by McCain's utter mismanagement of the financial crisis.

And now we are uniformly distressed about the drive of the GOP-e to nominate a moron whose political history takes Obamacare off the table as an election issue.

So go stuff it.

““I’ll take my ball and go home” approach did for you last election.”

Exactly.

It’s amazing how shortsighted people can be, preferring to kill off America swiftly rather than at least have a slight chance we will survive.

To all these “principled” people, I say go away from us, and don’t tell anyone you are our countrymen.

“Are you a “far left thinker”? Have you already forgotten what choosing Cain did for you in the last election cycle? “

Hey a** I didn’t choose McPain, didn’t like ‘em at all. I just understood in the general Sarah was there to keep a leash on him. Who the hell do you think you are to call me that. Do you call Sarah a left thinker? She endorsed him, NOT ME.

“Running with Romney is just the GOP elite ignoring us once again.” Might I suggest starting with replacing those elites instead of dividing your entire ranks.
