What the media doesn’t want you to know about Trayvon Martin

When a story regarding the Trayvon Martin death appears, it is almost universally accompanied by this image:

It is of a Trayvon Martin years younger than he really was. And it's not accurate. Dan Linehan has done some sleuthing and found a much different picture of Trayvon Martin than the one being forced down our throats. The real Trayvon Martin is being scrubbed as you read this.

This is a more recent image of Trayvon Martin

And so is this:

Twitter

It seems that Tray was also on Twitter, but his account seems to have been recently deleted by his family or friends.

His screen name was “@NO_LIMIT_NIGGA, as you can see from the twitpic account screenshot above. He was also a member of a twitter hash group #team4dat.

At first, I was skeptical that anyone would maintain an account with that sort of derogatory slur in the title, but after doing some research, it’s apparent that it was Trayvon’s account.

The account was in existence long before the shooting occurred a few weeks ago, and was deleted only recently, there are still dozens of references to @NO_LIMIT_NIGGA in google’s cache.

The associated twitpic account matches the account name and is still online at the time of publication. Most of the pics were uploaded months ago, so this account was associated with Trayvon long before the shooting took place.

Several of Tray’s friends have been very open about referring to Trayvon using that account as well. His cousin, who is quite active on Twitter, refers to Trayvon more than a dozen times using the @NO_LIMIT_NIGGA nickname.

See also here and here

Apparently the account has been terminated but Google has lots of cached references.

Trayvon referred to himself as "Slimm" in his Twitter account and his Facebook account.

He had friends in gangs, if he was not in one himself, and there is a question as to whether Martin was active in the drug trade.

The good news is that I think it’s more likely to end up like the Tawana Brawley case.

9. The police apperantly believe that he stole the skittles and the bottle of ice tea that he broke over the back of Mr. Zimmerman’s head.

10. Apperantly, while he was on top of Mr. Zimmerman beating him he was also yelling something along the lines of “You gonna die tonight Mother F***er”.

I’m reading your list and it occurs to me...he’s right. Trayvon really could have been obama’s son.

I so hope you’re right. But not - of course - with a senseless, painful suicide. Remember that?

I read that book when it first came out. It was a New York Times best-seller for months, but I kind of found it disappointing. Tom Wolfe is a great writer, but he really made his name writing non-fiction (I believe Bonfire of the Vanities was his first novel). Bonfire so closely followed the script of what was going in in New York City at the time that it came across as a non-fiction work ... which made its ending pretty predictable, in my opinion.

11. Innocent young Trayvon also apperantly assaulted a bus driver in the days before his untimely demise.

Has anyone interviewed the bus driver? I bet that person has a story or two to tell.

I second that ExGeeEye - I would not have seen any of this. Thanks for posting.

Where did you hear that police believe that he stole the candy and iced tea?
If, and I say if, he did shoplift perhaps he thought Zimmerman was following him from the store.

You pointed out the most fascinating aspect: the change in that kid’s face. I’m wondering if it was a divorce or something that changed him.

I haven’t read it since the first paperback came out. I loved it so much - because I felt I had been living that experience. Also, ‘cause Tom Wolfe used to come into a restaurant I worked at and would give excellent tips, lol!

At the time, I remember being thrilled with the dubious portrayal of Christopher Hitchens (who denied he was Peter Fallows). 20, 25 years later I mourned his death.

The book got mixed reviews but was a huge success. As I said, I myself, loved it!

The issue has never been about the guilt or innocence of any of the two parties involved in the shooting. It is and always has been about creating support for “The Divine One’s” re-election and money. The federal government is unable to control blacks other than by massive infusions of taxpayer money to rioting areas. There are plans for personal agrandizement and profitable payments to Sharpton Jackson and “Trayvon’s” parents. If it takes riots with resulting property damage and multiple deaths so be it!

Jesse Jackson said to a crowd of people that Trayvon was shot in the back of the head. They are disgusting.

"...5) long 10-day suspension (which is why he was staying with his dad across town)..."

• "Across town" is a 3¾-hour drive.

Oh, and by the way, it looks like media described innocent and harmless little “bean pole” has pretty good set of guns on him.

This dude was more than big enough to beat the “white Hispanic” to a bloody pulp, NO_LIMIT.

To: Does so

What gets me is that if he was trespassing and totally innocent, he could have respectfully apologized to Zimmerman and asked which way was out of the neighborhood, excused himself, etc ...”Sir, I am SO sorry, we got a little lost ...can you please help me to find the exit out of this neighborhood? Thanks ...” there are many ways to be polite and not provoke someone if you are informed that you have been caught trespassing.

Not that he deserved to die over it, but certainly, his behavior, his posturing, etc. could have escalated the situation.

I know I’m stating the obvious here.

ook at the change in that kid — from a face full of sunshine to that menacing mug in the hoodie.
That is the tragedy before the tragedy, and perhaps his parents should have a talking to.

You got that right.

I used to work with inner city kids in the ghetto.

Many if not most were black and it never ceased to amaze me how these sweet little kids ended up transforming into hard core, hate filled violent thugs in a matter of just a few short years.
