Ready for Mandatory Gun Insurance?

Government to Force Firearms Owners to Buy Gun Insurance

© gps333@charter.net

In a nutshell, here is the new law:

“Every owner of a firearm must, within ten days of taking possession of such firearm, obtain an insurance policy from a state-approved insurance provider, that provides a minimum of $ 250,000 liability and loss coverage per firearm, with a minimum total rider of $ 5,000,000, regardless of the number of firearms possessed. Each 100 rounds of ammunition will require a minimum coverage of $5,000. Failure to secure such insurance coverage will be punishable by a prison sentence of not less than one year and/or a fine of not less than $5,000.”

Sound farfetched? A Massachusetts liberal representative has already introduced a similar bill in the State House (http://fleming-hayes.com/2011/06/mandate-ma-lawmakers-consider-gun-insurance-2/). Would such a law make it into the federal statutes?

If ObamaCare is ruled constitutional, bet on it. If the federal government can force you to buy health insurance, it can certainly force you to buy other insurance “for the common good.” The immortal liberal lie that thousands of children are killed accidentally by firearms every year would be trotted-out again, and all it would take is a return of House control to the Democrats to make such a law happen.

Not worried about ObamaCare? You’d better be.

“Don’t you—and others—ever get tired of trotting out that nonsense? It’s not original and it’s not clever.

And I doubt that any of you would bring up such idiocy if ever questioned by an LEO.”

Sorry to offend your delicate sensibilities, grandma.

“It never made sense from the get-go, to wit, why would anyone transport his gun collection in a frigging boat? Jokes have to have some basis in fact that establishes what you’re going to make fun of. And this one fails miserably in that regard.”

If I had to choose between a confrontation with the humor police and real life gun-grabbing police, I don’t know which would be more annoying.

If questioned by an LEO the proper response is: “I am invoking my right not to incriminate myself and refuse to answer any questions without the presence of my lawyer.”

I had never heard the “they fell out of my boat on a fishing trip” before, and found that and this whole convo hilarious. Minus the fact that we are having to possibly lie about something that is our 2nd amendment right in the constitution.

I’ve only heard it 1x before, in my almost 4 weeks here, and still find it funny. Looks like I created a “sh*tstorm diversion” on this thread, though.

Where can I buy some Constitution Insurance to guarantee my liberty through the end of my life?

There must be more clever ways of framing the matter.

Might I suggest?

Yeah, I threw three Ruger products overboard on the way from San Diego to Panama. There was no realistic alternative, for many reasons too painfully detailed to go into here. But I may be the one gun rights type guy who ever really lost guns overboard. But we shot the hell out of them first. Tried to burn out the barrel of the Mini-14, quenching it in cold ocean water from the swim platform, and loading and firing, we couldn't make it stop until we were out of all 5.56 ammo. There should have been a Ruger camera crew to film it. Vivid in our minds, though, the crew on that leg.
