In 2002 to the surprise of no careful observer, Democrat Georgia Congresswoman Cynthia McKinney was beaten in a primary and rendered unable to run for re-election. McKinney was defeated rather easily (58/42) by Denise Majette a first time candidate.
Ordinarily this local primary would have little significance, but the results of a McLaughlin and Associates poll done two weeks before that Election day changes that view.
The survey found that Majette had a slight lead, but the really startling news was that while McKinney enjoyed over a 90% name recognition rate, just 28% knew who her opponent was.
In other words people didnt care who Denise Majette was, if she was breathing and not in prison she was their choice over McKinney.
Throughout the Republican Presidential Primary process we have been told its length alone would cripple the eventual winner.
Then we were assured that Evangelical Christians would not vote for a candidate they saw as un-Christian. We have heard that Obamas high personal likeability numbers would so greatly eclipse those of any potential opponent that he/she shouldnt bother showing up.
".. a new set of numbers showing that Barack Obama has a whopping 70% personally approval rating (including 56% who strongly approve of him) and Whats his name? has only a 29% strongly approve rating.
For Obama and his supporters thats good news. The inexplicable news (except to those who understand the lesson of the McKinney Majette primary) is the Oh so well liked Barack Obama is trailing even if by a single point over all - but by a solid 6 points among those who are the very most enthusiastic to vote
If using Whats his name? to achieve that goal is necessary Americans are ready to do so

Rasmussen has Romney up by 6 today.
Oops make that 5, and in my humble opinion it’s because Obama launched his campaign. The more he talks the more he sinks.
>Battleground State voters saying Im voting for Whats His Name, not Obama!
Oh, Ron Paul. That’s who you’re looking for, right?
(It can’t be Romney, he’s too like Obama to be “not Obama.”)
“People will not be voting for What’s his name, they will be voting against the commie in the White House.”
Fine. Whatever it takes to remove the Communist traitor from the WH.
But what about all these other recent polls, showing Obama ahead?
What about all the battleground state polls, showing Obama strong ahead among women in the battleground states?
What about all the articles in the news, stating that Obama has a strong base of states locked up, and just needs a few of the battleground states electoral votes to win re-election?
And what about other news reports that women/blacks/Latinos fear Republicans? What about the war on women?
In spite of all of this, Romney is up in the latest poll????
But the liberals have assured us that Obama is the man................
ABO = Anybody But Obuggery
Just my guess Obama will lose in a landslide. I see fear and anger all around. Carter 2. So long as people see the republican as a reasonable alternative, they get in that voting booth and say “Yeah, Obama has got to go”.
As I recall it, Carter was viewed as an embarrassment. People know that obama betrayed them.
The article conflates “name recognition” with “approval ratings,” two completely different things. Compare McKinney’s approval ratings to Obama’s if you want a valid comparison. Somehow I doubt they were as high.
He will lose in a landslide, and the Romney RINOs will claim a mandate to push their progressive, GOP-E agenda.
I’ve been trying to tell folks this here, for a long long time now...
Obama and to an even greater extend the Democratic Party itself are in BIG BIG TROUBLE.
This election is a referendum on Obama, nothing more, as long as republicans don’t put up someone that can be portrayed as worse than him, or a bigger threat, the Republican regardless of who they are is going to win and win handily. Not only this, but the wrath of the electorate for Obamacare and the socialist agenda of Obama’s first two years is going to HIT THE SENATE HARD! Most democrats who voted for that monstronsity have not faced the voters yet.
Every single poll, every single one, when looked at shows that the electorate by and large wants Obama GONE, they really don’t care who replaces him, they have seen his actions recognized them as failed and want him gone. ON election day he will likely not get above the low 40s at best.
The signs are all around you that this is going to be a disaster for not only Obama but for democrats across the board, but the MSM just isn’t reporting it, or at least not reporting it in full context.
Obama has lost his big donors, he is trying to make up the difference with smaller donors. He’s also told democrats in congress to get bent, he won’t be sharing any of the money he has with them. Not a good sign for congressional democrats with hard fights ahead of them.
There is a route coming folks, a very very big route, on par with and potentially even larger than 1994. Obama very possibly could lose the General Election by margins comparable to Santorums last senate run.
Obama won out of disgust with Bush, he will lose out of disgust with himself.
This is a small petty man folks, a manchild. When it becomes obvious he’s going down in flames, he’s going to get nasty and ugly and bitter, and the more isolated and bitter he gets the lower he’s going to sink in the polls.
Don’t think he won’t fight nasty or dirty, he’s going to, but its just not going to save him.
Yes, the election is 6 months away, a lifetime in politics, but the polling showing americans want this bozo gone, and recognize the mistake that was made in 2008 is consistent and has been for 6+ months, and its not likely to change.
I started watching the tv show, Eureka, last night but in a 2 minute segement, they showed a picture of Obama 8+ times. Talk about obvious campaigning. No thanks. They just lost a viewer.
Tragically, it turns out that at 16 Julia gets an STD and has to drop-out of high school and work as a hooker to support her crank habit.
In other words: It is a race between the communist of one party and the communist of the other party. This is now about party politics and not this nation.
People that vote party over country have doomed us to this race between communists. Both parties know they can run anyone and they will still have the vote of its members. The fight is simply for the independent vote and that means giving money away in various forms to entice those voters.
The communist takeover of this country with this election is complete.
As the Romans knew, once the people can vote themselves money from the treasury the nation is doomed.
I just got a phone call from the Romney campaign asking me for $$$. I told the caller “Never heard of him but will vote for anyone other than the Bolshevik Obama.”
