Is It A Sin To Vote For Mitt Romney?

Is it a sin to vote for Mitt Romney?

Well first off if you're not a Christian don't bother reading any further. This does not apply to you and your comments/scoffs) are not solicited. Leave now.

For those of you who are saved by the blood of The Lamb and are disciples of The Lord Jesus Christ I would ask you to consider the following:

Gods Criminal Justice System VS Mans Criminal Justice System

Here in the USA when we run afoul of the law we are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

In Gods system we are guilty until proven innocent,

Romans 3:23 "for ALL have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". (emphasis mine)

ALL have sinned. Not some, not my neighbor, but ME and YOU. ALL. We are guilty, you and I.

In the criminal justice system of the United States the punishment has to fit the crime. In many countries around the world today Sharia Law requires that a thief's hand be cut off if caught for stealing. This seems harsh and brutal compared to the offense. We have the death penalty here in the USA but you have to do something really bad to be sentenced to die.

In Gods criminal justice system we are all guilty and sentenced to death. Done deal. It has already happened whether you know it or not:

Romans 6:23 says "For the wages of sin is death,"

So we all have sinned and the wage of that sin is death. Does the penalty fit the crime? Is this fair and just?

Absolutely! God is all about justice, kindness and righteousness.

Jeremiah 9:24

24 but let him who boasts boast about this: that he understands and knows me, that I am the LORD, who exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight," declares the LORD.

So under Gods criminal justice system one can incur the death penalty for lying? That is just? The punishment fits the crime?

Yes. First of all, I, for one, have committed WAY more than just tell a fib. After all, sin is breaking one of the Ten Commandments. I am a serial offender. I am a sinner. No two ways around it. When it comes to keeping Gods commands I am a complete failure. I am bankrupt.

Understand that Gods Holiness is so great and awesome and unfathomable that it cannot be defiled by our sin and justice DEMANDS that sin be cast out of Gods presence.

The best we can come up with, our very best efforts we can muster when we try as hard as we possibly can, God refers to these as "filthy rags",

Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;

The literal translation of "filthy rags" is even worse than it sounds. Try "menstruous rags" on for size. Ok, some of you are trying them on for size in real life, you know what I'm talking about. Gross.

Our best works are disgusting to God. More of Gods so called justice? Yes, when you understand His holy nature, yes indeed.

Interesting thing about Gods Justice system; He is quite reasonable in that He sets a certain price for our penalty and accepts that price from whoever can afford it.

That price is our very life, but if someone could afford to pay it off for us God would accept it.

It is such a high price that I could not afford to pay for my kids penalty because I am in debt for my own sin, but what if someone came along who could afford to pay my dept? Someone who had not incurred their own death penalty. Someone who was sinless and loved me enough to pay for my sin with their innocent life? God would and does accept that payment.

This is Gods criminal justice system: John 3:16

16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.

1 John 5:11-12

11And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. 12He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

Jesus, I accept you as my Savior and my Lord. Thank you for loving me and for paying my way. I am in your debt forever.

===========================================================================

Gods Criminal Justice System VS Mans Criminal Justice System Part 2

Here in the US someone can be convicted of murder without ever having actually killed anyone, but because they were "in on it" they are guilty of conspiracy to commit murder.

In order to be guilty of conspiracy to commit murder a prosecutor must prove 3 elements to gain a conviction.

1.) The defendant intended to agree and did agree with someone to commit murder;

2.) At the time of the agreement, the defendant and [one or more of] the other alleged member[s] of the conspiracy intended that one or more of them would commit murder;

3.) (The/One of the) defendant[s] of coparticipant[s] or (both/ all) of them] committed [at least one of] the overt act[s] alleged to accomplish the murder;

Examples of this crime would be hiring a hitman. The person paying for the murder is just as guilty as the hitman.

Charles Manson claims he never killed anyone but he has been in prison for nearly 40 years for conspiracy.

WHEN SYSTEMS COLLIDE

Abortion is a perfectly legal murder in mans criminal justice system, but I submit that in Gods criminal justice system it is a sin of the most heinous sort, one that brutally ends the life of our most vulnerable and innocent members to the tune of a staggering 54 MILLION VICTIMS in the US alone, and counting.

Those directly responsible are quite obvious, but what of the coparticipants? Those that have conspired against these 54 million vulnerable innocent crime victims? It takes a massively wide conspiracy of unbelievable proportions to accomplish a crime of this unfathomable magnitude.

I submit that all those who keep this sin legal are just as guilty as those who are direct participants.

Abortion is a main plank of the Democratic platform. When you vote for a party you are putting your seal of approval on that platform. You are agreeing and supporting their goals when you cast your vote for their party.

You cannot say you disagree with their main plank yet support that main plank with your vote. This is contradictory. They are not hiding this plank so your vote is cast with open eyes knowing this.

We as human beings are amazing in our ability to justify our actions and if we are creative enough we can justify anything, including conspiring to murder 54 million vulnerable and innocent lives.

You have blood on your hands.

The excuses come fast and easy but there is no excuse for sin. None. We must take responsibility for our own sins and yes, I am absolutely saying that voting for a party that openly supports sin is enabling that sin and participating in that sin and sinning right along with that sin.

The creative justification part of us will immediately start pointing fingers at all sorts of things trying to muddy the waters, but what can possibly top 54 MILLION SENSELESS MURDERS OF THE VULNERABLE AND INNOCENT!!?? NOTHING!!

Not war, not compassion for the poor, not social policy, not fiscal policy. Nothing. This slaughter on our own soil makes the Holocaust look like childs play in comparison.

So in sheer body count alone there is no more important thing we should be voting for above this.

=====================================================

I wrote these a few years ago and would add the following thoughts:

Mitt Romney, despite his shallow words to the contrary, has a clear record of supporting abortion (not to mention homosexuality, forced health care, global warming, anti gun legislation, liberal judges, etc etc) and as such I believe I would become a co-participant in conspiracy to commit murder if I were to support him with my vote to lead our country.

I also believe what is a sin for one man may not be a sin for another based on my understanding of this passage:

Romans 14:23

New American Standard Bible (NASB)

23 But he who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not from faith; and whatever is not from faith is sin.

This passage explains that if you think it is a sin then for you it is indeed a sin whether is really is a sin or not, and for others of stronger faith it is not a sin.

As I explained in my now long winded article I believe voting for someone pro choice is a sin for me, I would then ask this:

BASED ON SCRIPTURE AND REASON, how could I believe otherwise?

Don't equivocate that the survival of our country depends on Mitt winning because Obama is the boogieman.

I want to know where the flaws in my reasoning may be.

If you are a Christian and believe otherwise, how did you come to your conclusion based on scripture and reason?

Let me go back to about 1970 when Jimmy Carter was running for President (He made a statement: “that looking at a woman with lust was a sin”).

Many discussed that on TV and Radio talk shows. At that time I had a large group of visitors in my Sunday School Class. Some said, “no one can define sin.”

Near the end of the class, one of the visitors asked: “What is sin?” Then he said; “don’t give the list of: don’t smoke, don’t drink, don’t dance, don’t go to movies, but tell me what the Bible says is sin!”

I was not prepared to answer that, I said: “Come back next week and I will tell you what the Bible says is sin.”
He did (then I learned he was Jewish) and I did, and here is what the Bible says is sin.

1. “A high look and the plowing of the wicked is sin.” (Proverbs 21:4)

2. “The thought of foolishment is sin....”(Proverbs 24:9)
3.”........for whatsoever is not of faith is sin” (Romans 14:23)

4. “Therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” (James 4:17)

5. “Whosoever committeth sin trangresseth also the law, for sin is the trqangression of the law.” (1 John3:4)

6.”All unrighteousness is sin....”(1John 5:17)

May we especially remember:
“For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23)

“For He [God] made Him[Jesus] to be sin for us who knew no sin, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.” (2 Corinthians 5:21)

Considering the state of the politicians in this Country, if you limit yourself to not voting for Romney or Obama because of what you believe in scripture, then I would suggest that you not vote in the General for anyone. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.

"Sin lies only in hurting other people unnecessarily. All other sins are invented nonsense."

No that's a negative view of life. Incidently, "Do no harm" is the Satanic and Wiccan code. God requires much more than that.

God requires that we love Him with all our heart and love our neighbor as ourselves. That's an active love, not just an avoidance of harm.

A person who goes around just trying to avoid harming others, but never loving others is an evil man. God calls us to be much more than that.

In fact, God calls us to be perfect and Holy. "Be perfect for I am perfect". "Be Holy for I am Holy."

God is a perfect Holy God. He doesn't judge us on whether or not we've avoided harming anyone. He doesn't judge us on a bell curve of humanity where if you're closer to Mother Teresa than to Adolf Hitler, you're okay. He doesn't judge us like the Muslims believe on the scales of justice where if your actions are 51% good, you're okay. He judges us by His perfect standard.

That's why we need a savior. Because none of us can stand before a perfect Holy God in our own right and survive. We need forgiveness. And when our sins are washed away, then we are made perfect.

"Come let us reason together, though your sins are like scarlett, they shall be white as snow." "Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not impute sin." "Whosever believes in me shall not perish, but shall have everlasting life." "But this man (Jesus), after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;" "By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once [for all]."

Just so we're clear: Killing a defenseless Adolph Hitler is still a sin, right?

Lying to your grandmother that your grandfather never cheated on her is still a sin, right?

Damn. Dragging up Hitler and somebody's grandmother to defend voting for Romney. I think I've seen it all. You top those folks who claim that Romney pushing cheap abortions and Romneycare was too long ago to matter.

Well done, sir! If there were an Olympic event for reaching, you would take 1st, 2nd, and third place!

“Voting is a right given to us by the US Constitution not something required or to my knowledge a ‘sin’.”

The Constitution doesn’t give anything. The Constitution limits the Government from interfering with preexisting rights given to us by God.

We are expected to comply with the law and the decisions of our leaders. We have the leaders we deserve and have earned. You want better choices then not voting sure isn’t the answer.

Perfect answer, all Christians must not vote so they don’t sin. Therefor remove themselves from having any influence on their Government, which God says we must submit too.

Brilliant!

Amen. Obama is a megalomaniac, and has convinced himself of his own omnipotence. It's amazing how many conservatives and Republicans have also been convinced.

Speaking from a non-Christian conservative perspective -- that is, only considering political principle and philosophy, Romney is off the table because of Romneycare and the solid credibility he gives the stupid hoax of "global warming" and the conceit that we can manipulate the world's climate -- but only with global oversight, you understand!

As a conservative, voting FOR a "Republican" who did that, is completely nuts. And it's completely nuts for a Christian who sees abortion as murder and knows that being forced to fund it via taxes makes him an accessory, to vote FOR a Republican who, as it happens, had tax-funded on-demand cheap abortion included in RomneyCare.

As the Christian I think of myself as being, it would be loopy to vote FOR a guy who not only has facilitated abortion and made everybody pay for it (!!!) but who has proclaimed and endorsed "Gay Youth Pride," an "outreach" to kids as young as 12, to "tolerate" open homosexuality by celebrating it; FRiend, THAT is leading children to sin, and Christians know what Jesus thought about people who did that.

Voting for Romney is as nuts as voting for Obama. If this election ends up being O v R (I can dream and hope that Romney is dumped and a limited government conservative is nominated), the fact that it's Barry vs Mitt is incidental. This election isn't about Democrat vs Republican, as they're both nearly identical in these two candidates, and that is plain solid reality for those who dare admit it.

This race is really Limited Government vs Big Government. If I vote for either Romney or Obama, I'm voting FOR Big Government because the candidate is a Big Government statist who craves an iron grip of benevolent government control. Either way, the vote confirms support for Big Government.

People like to tell themselves that they're only voting against Obama. Well, that's only half of it. You are also voting FOR something, and it's pretty bad.

However, if you give your vote to a third OFFICIAL candidate (not a write in or such that can invalidate the ballot), you are confirming your rejection of Big Government, and the outcome of plurality will affect the political vulnerability of whoever wins. Looking at what's stacked up ahead if it ends up being O v R -- I think voting O or R neutral but aiming to weaken either one's victory as much as possible, is the best option. Because as conservative OR as a Christian, either way, Romney is exactly what I've been voting AGAINST for decades.

Whether you vote for Romney or Obama is beside the point, in the end, God will use them somehow to show us the way. Whether its to stand up and fight against the certain tyranny Obama will bring, or to use Romney as an illustration of false religion he follows (or to reveal the fickle, dark heart men possess when they say anything to anyone to fill their own selfish desires), it will because of His design, not ours.

Regroup for the next time around and don't screw up like we did following 2008/2010.

WE did not screw up - you will probably find no FReepers in this thread who voted for Romney in the primaries (I haven't even been able to vote yet).

It is the GOP-e that is working to get Romney the election. Go ahead though, bend over and do what the GOP-e tells you to do.

You know what your reward will be? You'll get another loss since the strategy of running liberals against Obama has already failed spectacularly back in 2008. You'll also get another RINO in 2016 who, based on current trends, will be even more liberal than Romney.

As long as people like you continue the 20+ year trend of automatically supporting whichever RINO the GOP-e nominates, you will continue getting RINOs.

Some day you may even be judged by a higher authority for supporting a man who pushed $50 abortions not even a decade ago. The defense that the other pro-abortion candidate is worse because he has a (D) next to his name will not matter. You will be judged for who you support.

If some of you had half a brain, would you prefer King Obama or at least a better chance with Romney. I can understand children lack the ability to reason but adults? WTF

We are voting for president, not federal pastor. BHO call himself a Christian, does anyone see any fruit in him? I'm not happy that out of 100 million qualified candidates all we have are these two bozo's, but that's reality. What you do is try to weigh which one is the best candidate, not the perfect candidate. Obama is not even close. I would vote for a one eyed monkey over Obama.

I'm as "Christian" as anyone, but all this fret over a Mormon president is foolish. As long as he keeps his cult to himself, I'm happy. Obama has his cult of communism and is shoving it down our throat. The Constitution is about freedom, not pushing personal ideas on the population. Christianity can stand on it's own as it has for thousands of years. A politician can help very little. Romney will do good to represent the US people and not talk abut the Smith or Young families.

Romans 13

1 Let everyone be subject to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.

2 Consequently, whoever rebels against the authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and those who do so will bring judgment on themselves.

Politics is part of the world we live in. Refusing to participate means you are refusing to be obedient to the authority God has placed over us.

The Constitution does require that Representatives be chosen and Senators be elected by “the People” and that requires a vote unless I totally misunderstand this.

"Considering the state of the politicians in this Country, if you limit yourself to not voting for Romney or Obama because of what you believe in scripture, then I would suggest that you not vote in the General for anyone. All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

True, but this isn't a case of two candidates each with a few imperfections. Both candidates are pro-abortion, pro-sodomy=marriage, pro government controlled healthcare, pro socialist, anti-gun, Saul Alinsky linked candidates.

And frankly, when I weigh the two, I don't come up with one being a significantly lesser evil. They're equally bad!!!

If Romney wins, the muslims may not fare as well, and the nation might be a little safer security wise. However, it will be 8 years before the Republicans run someone different. And we will have a Republican president to blame for all the liberal policies. And the nation will probably vote a democrat house and congress in.

If Obama wins, the checks and balances will be tested more, but Congress and SCOTUS are already starting to buck Obama. Plus the nation will be more likely to vote in a Republican house and senate, which could block Obama and possibly impeach him.

So strange as it seems, I'm leaning towards thinking Obama is the lesser of the two evils, if only because he is more likely to be blocked and made ineffective.

And with neither candidate the obvious lesser of two evils, I'm going to use my vote to send a message to the GOP. I'm voting for the constitution party, and Virgil Goode. The constitution party isn't perfect either, but it sure beats the current GOP and Democrats.
