Will the Senate threaten the 2nd Amendment?

As New York City plays host to a conference which will shape the UN Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) into final form, most 2nd Amendment supporters are concerned that stealth language or overly broad applications woven into the document will serve to separate Americans from their right to keep and bear arms. After all, why else would preliminary versions of the Treaty be so difficult to obtain and U.N., pre-conference position statements remain consistently absent from the internet?

Barack Hussein Obama leads the most anti-gun rights Administration in the nation’s history. Hillary Clinton, Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and recently appointed, ATF Acting Director B. Todd Jones have spoken often and passionately about the importance of implementing more restrictive gun control legislation.

But the gun-grabbing Regime will not be able to ratify the Treaty without first securing a 2/3rds majority of senators to vote in favor. And it won’t be easy to convince 67 politicians to sign onto a document which...

There are currently 58 Senators against this treaty. They feel the heat from the gunowners and lobbyists.

It’s WE THE PEOPLE’s Bill of Rights. If we left those fags up at the UN take them away from us, it’s our own fault. When I was a kid, America was a sovereign nation and the Bill or Rights meant something. Freeriding freeloaders will allow the government to put them into slavery as long as the government will throw them a handout or freebie every now and then.

As I understand it......it's not 2/3rds of The Senate. It's 2/3rds of the senators present for the vote, THAT day.

Big difference.

The only thing that will separate Americans from their rights is apathy, or death. People need to decide now if either of those choices is one they want to be faced with.

This thread has just added to the FreeRepublic "bang list" (firearms interest list) by adding the keyword "banglist".

Any time a firearms-related thread is created on FreeRepublic, please be sure to add the "banglist" keyword to it so that interested FReepers don't miss it. Just a suggestion.

Forget the NRA, forget the voters, forget political fallout. Signing a treaty that makes the United States Constitution and thus the American people subservient to a foreign power? How is that not the most serious violation of the oath of office? How is that not treason?

We absolutely can not tolerate even an attempt to be party to a treaty that undermines the sovereignty of the United States. In my opinion even if this is voted on and does not pass any Senator that votes for this treaty has violated his oath and must be prosecuted.

The American people need to be very clear that we will demand absolute and immediate accountability to our elected officials who would engage in this type of shenanigans.

Isn't that like saying, "will the Senate threaten the American people?"

Or, put another way, will the American people threaten the Senate?

I foresee a booming industry in tar, feathers and rails.

I sent an email to my Senator, Kelly Ayott (I don't consider Jean Shaheen, the Abortion Queen, my Senator anymore than she considers me a constituent.) and got a personal response.

Despite the claim on a thread on this forum, she is against this treaty and assured me that she will continue to support the 2nd Ammendment.

Of course, to many "principled conservatives" on FR, she is just another RINO, like Ronald Reagan.

I think you’re on to something: signing this treaty -which would contravene the Constitution of the United States - would violate the president’s oath of office. Violating the oath would be an impeachable offense. I think we should inform our Senators and Representatives that we regard this potential violation seriously and that we will demand action the second that the government signs off on this thing.

I hope you are right; however, I see a booming alcohol industry... as people want to forget how negligible the control they have in life ls.
