Hypocrite Mayors Attack Chick-fil-A on Gay Marriage
The Christian Diarist ^ | July 28, 2012 | JP

Planned Parenthood killed a 24-year-old Chicago mother-to-be last weekend. But Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel hasn’t called for the abortion provider to shut down its Chi-town clinics.

San Francisco-based Wells Fargo has been found guilty of predatory mortgage lending, illegal foreclosures and securities fraud, among other offenses. Yet San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee hasn’t banished the bank from the city.

And Liberty Mutual Insurance, headquartered in Boston, cheated its auto policy holders by ordering body shop owners to repair new vehicles using “junkyard” parts. However, Boston Mayor Thomas Menino hasn’t told the company it is no longer welcome to do business in Beantown.

No, the three mayors have reserved their outrage for Chick-fil-A, the fast-food franchise, whose unabashedly Christian ownership have the temerity to stand up for traditional marriage between one man and one woman.

“Chick-fil-A’s values are not Chicago values,” said Emanuel.

“Closest ChicFilA to San Francisco is 40 miles away & I strongly recommend that they not try to come any closer,” tweeted Lee.

“I urge you to back out of your plans to locate in Boston,” wrote Menino, in a letter to the fast-food chain’s owners.

So matricide and infanticide are Chicago values, but not traditional families with husband and wife?

So San Francisco doesn’t want opponents of homosexual marriage within 40 miles of the city, but a financial institution that has used unlawful tactics to foreclosure on homeowners is welcome?

So Boston will do everything in its power to keep out a company that stands with the majority of Americans who believe homosexuality is a sin in the eyes of God, but the city is okay with an insurer that ordered old parts be used to repair the new cars of its unsuspecting policy holders?

A voice of reason in the attack on Chic-fil-A by Mayors Emmanuel, Lee and Menino has come from, of all politicos, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg (whom many religious leaders have not forgiven for banning prayer at the 10th anniversary memorial of the September 11, 2001 terror attacks).

“I disagree with them strongly on this one,” said Bloomberg, referring to his fellow big city mayors. “You really don’t want to ask political beliefs or religious beliefs before you issue a permit. That’s just not government’s job.”

Well, amen to that.

If individuals want to boycott a company because they disagree with their politics or practices that's their prerogative. But we sure don't want government imposing a political litmus test on companies as a condition of allowing them to do business within some jurisdiction or another.

I saw a comment somewhere on the web about rahmbo’s remark asking if these jerks are asking muslims to get the hell out of their towns. Muslims kill homosexuals. (Chick-Fil-A hires them to work, pays them good wages and serves them good food with respect.) Wonder when the media is doing a full investigation on this.

there is no such thing as muslim same-sex marriage

in fact, there is such thing as same-sex executions by hanging in islam theocracies like Iran

Dalai Lama is also against same-sex marraige

however I don’t see the libs boycotting muslim or Buddhist-owned businesses

so, what’s up with that?

whats next- a ltimus test for those who believe in abortion on demand vs those who do not?

are these mayors willing to ban muslim, Catholic, Baptist, and Buddhist-owned businesses from their cities? If business owners of all religions that don’t agree with liberal screed are banned, what’s left?

Rahmbo also has a “consistency” problem with ignoring his own Chicago homie Louis Farrahkhan’s anti-gay views

Imagine Rahmbo supporting a Chicago ban and boycott on businesses owned by Farrakhan supporters or any Black minister who is against homosexual marriage

Wasn’t obama against homosexual marriage when he was elected in 2008 by these same people ... wasn’t Rahmbo the WH advisor back when obama was against homosexual marriage, as he was until like, oh, 3 months ago?

(crickets)

It would seem that Emmanuel and Memino are elected public officials who are the chief executives of their cities. Clearly they are using their political office to intimidate and deny economic opportunities to a public corporation based on the political speech of some of the shareholders. This violates the civil rights of all the shareholders. It would seem incumbent on Chick FilA to file suit in federal court against these mayors who are resposible for upholding the law. Let the trial and depositions begin.

I believe the correct adjective is “totalitarian.”

If Chick-fil-A served extra-large drinks, Bloomie would come down on them like a ton of bricks.

You are right, of course. Liberal hypocrisy just keeps on giving and giving. Critiquing it is like shooting (dead)fish in a barrel.

Chick Fil-a has never refused service to anybody based on sexual orientation. Chick Fil-a has never refused to hire anybody based on sexual orientation. If they had, we’d have heard about it by now because the liberals have been gunning for Chick Fil-a for *years.*

So STFU, politicians. You are playing with First Amendment fire when you drop the hammer on a company because of what the management believes.
