Where are all of the yard signs?
Self

I don't live in a battle ground state but I've noticed a lack of yard signs this year for politicians. Four years ago it seemed that everyone had a yard sign and Obama was everywhere, even here in southern Kentucky. I've seen a few bumper stickers on vehicles over by the university but really haven't seen a lot of them either.

I'm curious if anyone else could tell me if I'm just early or just in the wrong place to see the usual mania that the elections provide.

I keep seeing the polls and wonder if there's so much support then why am I not seeing tangible support for either candidate.

Astonishingly few yard signs and bumper stickers this year, but I finally did start seeing a smidgeon. Traveled about 500 miles across Texas this weekend, and consciously looked for and counted Romney bumper stickers, spotting five examples. First I’ve seen. Normally would have seen at least two dozen or more GOP stickers, by this proximity to the election.

On the more positive side, there were even fewer Obama stickers (and it wasn’t always evident if they were new ones for 2012 or older ones).

If people are scared of retaliation, the country is lost.

This is not an ordinary election and a lot of people can feel it. So, if people choose to exercise the better part of valor, I won't count that against them (as long as they get out and vote).

No signs in my area either. I emailed the Republican comitte in my area and told them I would display one for Romney but not pay for it. No response.

We’re in Kucinich’s former district.

There are only three yard signs on our street - all Obama, and all the homeowners/renters are in “protected classes”.

We generally don’t put up signs or bumper stickers anymore. Not only are they a target for vandalism (and we don’t have the time to post guard on our property) before the election, but this election, the potential for post-election mayhem seems particularly accute. Not advertising our political affiliation is a form of (possibly futile) pre-emptive camouflage.

Rub your signs with Poison Ivy! I do. Neighbor’s teenager was covered in Calamine lotion a couple days later!

Paintball CO2 "land mines", filled with India ink or something similarly permanent.

And maybe a game trail camera with IR flash, to capture some evidence for the cops.

I posted a vanity about this very observation a few days ago. Weird, isn’t it? The air is thick, here, with a sense of foreboding.

I hope the voter turnout is like Chick Fil A Day!

Most of the Shmoos that voted for Obama in 2008 are to ashamed to acknowledge same by posting Obama Signs on their lawns this time around?

From the Romney camp, mine have been “in the mail” for 5 weeks.

They seem to be slow in production & distribution, which I don’t understand.

Post convention spending limitations?

If they spent more money getting the message out, rather than sending me 40 requests for more money, they might see better results.

The visible yard signs here seem to reflect pretty well what I hear. One or two for the kenyan here and there and a wide and consistent sprinkling of Romney signs, maybe 50 t0 one ratio for Romney, but not a high total at all. Very few people care for the kenyan and enthusiasm for Romney is muted. “At least he is better than Obama,” seems to sum it up. And with the Republicans not advertising hereabouts, it is not so good for Romney as it might seem. The Republicans are not advertising here and the SIEU ads have a lock on the airwaves. Lots of these people won’t vote if they don’t think the candidate they prefer doesn’t care whether they vote or not. This is Northwest Florida. A large turnout is needed here to offset the South Florida leftist vote. It can happen but it probably won’t. The Republicans really don’t care whether these folks go to the polls or not. Non FR Folks only hear about Romney on the news.

I used to TAPE the stickers to my back window, I would never put a sticker on the outside. Good idea with magnetic ones.

I also used to write on inside of my back window, different things I wanted said, using white shoe polish. Kinda difficult writing backwards right to left.

I’ve been driving around the Chicago ‘burbs, Oak Brook, Wheeling, etc. and I haven’t seen one Obama bumper sticker. It may just be happenstance, but around home, or in other cities, I will usually see one Obama sicker, even if it’s from ‘08.

I’ve seen a few Romney yard signs and a lot of R/R bumper stickers here in NW Travis county TX. There are more anti 0 bummer than for him. I’ve seen three bummer stickers the past few weeks. Not one single bummer / biden yard sign.

Houston, Tx.

1. One Romney/Ryan sign in my neighborhood of 200 homes.
2. No Obama signs anywhere in my area of Houston.
3. Have seen quite a few Romney/Ryan bumper stickers.

on my street in Yellow Dog Democrat country:

1 Obama sign
0 Romney signs
5 “Stop the War on Coal” signs

There is a highway near my home where someone from the
Central Committee has come out and lined the shoulders with Obama signs for a couple hundred yards.

I replaced my Romney sign this AM with a Romney/Ryan sign because the graphics show up better and because Ryan is my fav. I’ll put the old Romney sign on the lawn in front of our manufacturing plant, as soon as I get the grass mowed.

We have lots of Romney and Romney/Ryan signs in this area and just a few Obama signs on the homes of the usual suspects. Those same houses sported Recall Walker signs in June.

In many areas it is self-defense to NOT display a political preference. If you don’t want your house or car vandalized, you certainly don’t display a Republican oriented sign.

Would you want your neighbors to know that you are stupid enough to vote for that failure again? However, most of us know who the culprits are who are so ridden with White guilt that they can’t help themselves. Losers.
