Because...

Even if you are a taker you'd realize that even takers are better off with more people pulling the wagon than riding the wagon.

Unfortunately this did not dawn on the Bolsheviks until they had shot all the farmers and taken all their food.

47% pay no Fed. Income Tax...a disgrace.

Food Stamp enrollment has doubled in four years.

Mr. President, why didn’t you choose to double job opportunities instead?

Yeah! More pulling the wagon.

Most of the 47 percent are not takers and are pulling their share in our land. The percentage of real takers are much smaller.

Good way to lose the votes of the 100% disabled veterans in this country.

You can win elections without alienating your base ~ may be a novel idea to many but it's true.

Romney apologized and admitted he didn't understand what he was saying.

And let’s institute a universal military draft with no deferments so everybody has skin in the game.

The point originally was that 47% didn't pay any direct federal personal income tax.

So, think about it this way ~ 100% of Americans should not pay any direct taxes of any kind to the federal government. The Founders design restricted the federales to "indirect taxes". We should return to the original design and abolish the income tax.

It's the CONSERVATIVE WAY!

I don’t know what is more sad, Romney making the statement in the first place or so many conservatives not realizing what is so unfair, misleading and possibly fatally self-destructive about what he said.

We don't need a draft, but we do need UMT ~ universal military training. After all, by design of the Founders, we, the whole body of the people, are the militia!

The 13th amendment clearly outlawed the "draft" and other forms of corvee labor.

I don’t really advocate a draft, but if the current conservative establishment is going to bring up this complaint about workers who don’t make enough to pay income tax not having skin in the game, we ought to be consistent enough to bring up the ultimate skin in the game of war and risk of death which the “takers” of the 47 percent probably bear much more heavily than the pampered and privileged children of the so-called “makers and job creators”.

Romney picked up a glib phrase from the popular media (Sean Hannity) and used it to create fear in the minds of the people he was trying to get money out of to run his campaigns.

All politicians do that, and many very rich people are very gullible, particularly once they lift their heads out of whatever it was they were doing to make all their money, and it's "OH MY GOLLY WHAT ARE THEY DOING".

Then there are the converts ~ they've been supporting Democrats for years and years and now they realize the Democrats intend to strip them down to their skivies. They are easily frightened, but alas, they know nothing of Republican politics ~ and usually end up supporting the fringe elements instead of the candidates best representative of the core of the base.

Some have suggested that the high cost of campaigns is the root cause. But think about that a second ~ this country started out as a huge place, and it had a novel way of selecting it's top leader ~ THE PRESIDENT. No, he's not a king, but there he is, in the end, the leader of the free world as well, and to a degree, the leader of the rest of it too even if he doesn't want to be a leader at all.

Barely out of colonial status the Founders created an office that relied, in part, on tapping into the opinion of the great broad masses of the people ~ and they lived hundreds of miles apart.

Sure, it costs something to do a Presidential campaign today, but it did then too. There were massive costs, and yet people in home tanned buckskins, living in the woods on subsistance farming, undertook all those costs just for a chance to pick the fella' who was going to be instantly thrust onto the world stage as The President of the United States.

That's the part we need to keep in mind ~ this is an important job; it costs something to campaign; not all are chosen, but many are called. And in the end this is a better way to do it than all the other ways!

Yes, it's a horrible system until we look at the alternatives.

And speaking of Hannity and the popular media, the most cringe-inducing statement I've heard is that horrible class warfare garbage from Malkin comparing people who sign the front of checks with those who sign the back. Some of these folks need to take a step back and learn about the ordinary world as it is before they open their well-paid mouths.

Avoid buying anything that you don’t really need. Become more self-sufficient each month. Learn to manufacture something useful as a hobby for now. Shut down all funding for the socialist political/regulator class.
