After President Barack Obama's flyover and photo-ops, some locals are still not happy.
(Associated Posers) NEW YORK CITY Unsatisfied with the unbelievably great response by President Barack Obama to the devastation left by Sandy, some residents now claim they have been left for dead. 3 days after the huge storm swept through the region President Obama and FEMA have received high praise from Republicans like the Governor of New Jersey, Chris Christie and the mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg, who just endorsed the President for re-election.
In spite of this acclaim some residents of New York City claim to have been left behind to fend on their own as in a Mad Max movie.
Were going to die! Were going to freeze! We got 90-year-old people! Donna Solli told visiting officials. You dont understand. You gotta get your trucks down here on the corner now. Its been three days!
Staten Island was one of the hardest-hit communities in New York City. More than 80,000 residents are still without power. Many are homeless, and at least 19 people died on Staten Island because of the storm. Groups of people have been spotted at grocery store trash dumpsters looking for food in other parts of the city.
I cannot believe the level of whining one Democrat Party official as he entered a celebrity-studded party at a posh hotel near Times Square where the power is still on. The President gave some wonderful photo-ops, hugged a lady at the airport and flew over to see the wreckage. What else can you expect?
Staten Island resident Mike Abuzzios home is completely gone, with only his floor boards remaining. He, his wife and their two young daughters have been staying with relatives.
My youngest daughter yesterday said, Daddy, I want to go, Abuzzio told ABC News. I told her, Its going to be awhile, hon. She doesnt understand. Shes 6.
In the rubble that was once his home, Abuzzio found one clean, intact plate of Christmas china. He said that plate will be special at Christmastime and will be used specifically for his mothers cookies.
This is America, not a third world nation. We need food, we need clothing, Staten Island Borough President Jim Molinaro said today. My advice to the people of Staten Island is: Dont donate the American Red Cross. Put their money elsewhere.
The Red Cross and the National Guard arrived in the area late Tuesday and are distributing food, water and gas and city officials say things are much better.
The mayor of New York City Michael Bloomberg said everything was already improving drastically and to prove this did not cancel the New York Marathon. There will also be a free Bruce Springstein concert. Seriously, I don't understand the problem. You just can't please some people
It’s sarcasm
They won’t be content until there is a W A C O in every state as an object lesson.
I realize that, but I did hear a lot of real pissing and moaning. Probably mostly from folks who made no preparations. You know. “You know, you got Obamaphone” types. That image floats, GeronL.
I think was Christie did was brilliant. He comes off looking very good as the governor, putting his state before partisan politics, and at the same time, forcing Obama to own the disaster and its aftermath.
He’s not a dumb man.
Where's Bush? Why is he doing nothing?
right, much of the article is lifted from real news articles. People who are digging in dumpsters after 3 days are definitely some of the more unprepared!
Same here, but when your response is a website where people without power or Internet must go to and request relief or wasting time on fund raising while food and water are disappearing, my gut tells me it's gonna get much worse.
NBC's criticism of Romney's effort to actually get food and water and the things needed, instead of raising money, is going to backfire.
the Traitor promised to give New York the gas out of Airforce One, but then said “naaaaaaawwww, I was jus joshin you guys! Psych!!”
Uh in the ‘70’s it would snow several times a week plus ice on the trees causing long term outages a week long with temps well below zero
Plus cold showers because that’s the only choice you got.
A foot of snow overnight would only get you a 30 minute delay for school. With drifts it was well over 5 ft. 12 hours of shoveling first storm and a few hours next day or two to keep up.
No it’s not bad as Vermont but at -16 another 8
not really necessary to prove a point.
Never let a crisis go to waste...
I forgot to mention a Dem official directing people to a website. dang.
lol
lol
wait, really?
yikes.
That would shut me up.
Well, you know how I feel about pervertland. But thats a good point, to a point.
Where I was in jersey we could see the WTC
from the “top of the hill” about 35 minutes away. We had a truck filled with crates of water, some clothing and food being donated shortly
after the second plane hit . It was just sitting on side of gas station with huge sign asking for donations and local businesses brought some stuff encouraging other local folks to donate.
Just like the tornadoes down south. People feel
compelled to help. You contribute what you can. You can’t help everyone but that doesn’t matter. You do what you can. Enough people can make a positive difference.
What’s Bammy doing meanwhile?
More champagne dinners with his Hollywood pals and watching the NBA season??
This comment ended up on the wrong thread.
It was meant for the one about NBC critism of Romney about donations for
Hurricane Sandy.
Not sure how that happened.
Completely agree! I hope we never lose that characteristic of helping others by allowing big government to elbow its way in on our right, our ability to do so.
