Obama's Brilliant Victory

Obama's Brilliant Victory By DANIEL MANDEL on 11.12.12

Whatever else he may be, he does play to win.

Without doubt, Barack Obama has pulled off a brilliant victory and even those who dislike him cannot fail to acknowledge it. True, it wasn't a landslide: in fact, he is the first president to be re-elected with a reduced majority (52.9% and 9.5 million votes more than John McCain in 2008; 50.3% and 3 million more votes than Romney today). But a clear -- indeed, given the facts, a stunning -- Obama victory it remains. In 2008, Obama had called George W. Bush "unpatriotic" for harvesting a $4 trillion federal deficit in 8 years. What word, then, to apply to a president who has inflated it by nearly $6 trillion in half the time? Add to that some grim facts:

The national debt now exceeds the entire annual output of the U.S. economy.

Unemployment is higher today (7.9%) than when he took office (7.8%), remaining on his watch at over 8% for a post-war record of 43 consecutive months and even today above a 7% threshold with which no post-war president -- until this election-- had ever achieved re-election.

An unpopular signature legislative package: Obamacare, opposed as recently as June by 56% of Americans.

High gas prices, higher on average than under George W. Bush and more than double since Obama took office.

An unprecedented U.S. credit rating downgrade by Standard & Poor's and Egan-Jones from AAA to AA+ (August 2011) and by Egan-Jones to AA (April 2012) and to AA- (September 2012).

An American public which believes 52% to 46% that the country is headed in the wrong direction.

Why was a record of economic blight and general discontent insufficient to unseat Obama?

Romney was not my first choice but but he would have been a good president, especially compared to the mendacious usurper who squats in the White House.

He wasn't my first choice either but he would have been a decent President. His executive background would have been a plus.

I'm still having trouble making eye contact with my neighbors, knowing that most of them (in my deep-blue neighborhood) voted for BO.

Posting a thoughtful response in FR’s is an exercize in frustratration and futility mostly because of the vapid responses that pile on to sujects like these. None the less I’ll try.

I live in a semi battle ground state which did have some targeting tv and print promotion. If you live in a blue state there was little expenditure and in a red state pretty much the same. It is what was in those messages those print and tv ads contained.

Expecting voters to know what’s going on with their reliance on MSM is just part of our great loss. While there are examples of fraud which may close up the gap, the gap is too big to blame the loss on fraud ...Expecting GOP E’s to address media bias is another but here is where the fault lies..

Romney ran a “Johnny One Note Campaign”. Used a poison dart blow gun when he should have used a cannon loaded with grape shot because he had pleanty of stuff he could fill that cannon barrel with..

He failed to hammer away on what will happen when Obama gets returned; The Obama 2013/14 Tax Increases. The impact of Obama’s energy policies..(a socialist construct never branded as such) and a bread and butter issue which reaches every into “demographics” pocketbook...The impact of Supreme Court Appointments.. 18,000 new IRS agents and on and on. Including rampant corruption . Some were very briefly touched most weren’t and Benghazi was left to languish. Then there is Obama’s personal extravagance and behavior refusing to visit Nashville after its disaster showing up at New Orleans after Mitt visited it.

Instead we got a sales pitch on executive ability but not the reason why one should toss the old model and buy his.

In addition Rove who I understand was handling the Charter PAC senate campaign played games. His material never warned voters that IF OBAMA GETS REELECTED AND SENATE RETAINED OBAMACARE AND ALL THE TAX INCREASES THAT GO WITH IT WILL NEVER GET REPEALED Let alone tie into or cover the formentioned grape shot which would have perhaps changed that body. I don’t recall any of that material directed toward that fact.

Finally Romneys’s campaign staff didn’t believe the polls which turned out were dead on. Not setting up focus groups which could have looked into what’s going on with those polls. Even going out to local eateries and bars and eavesdrop into conversations and pick up on topics being discussed.(chat rooms twitter too susceptible to manipulation)

Our local small population (-8000) rural blue county GOP had at the outset good and growing attendence at their meetings 50 plus. At the meeting the Thursday before the election only about a dozen people showed up and I knew we were in trouble .

Nuts...This loss is inexcuseable, while I trully don’t believe Mitt Romney would never continence losing, I’m begining to wonder if many GOPE’s didn’t want to see O care go ..

Maybe it wasn't so brilliant. Maybe a significant percentage of the elecorate is immume to facts and appeals to logic and reason. Maybe nothing Pubbies did could have won them the election. I wish Romney had championed conservatism and attacked Obama instead of delivering his bland message that "he could do better." Leaving iffy voters to ask the question: why does he think he can do better? He's just a rich Republican. He just wants to make himself and rich people richer. We like Obama. He'll give us stuff.

Romney should have delivered a much more conservative message. Maybe that's the answer. But there's no guarantee that would work either. I think we've reached the tipping point. The takers outnumber the producers.

The only thing brilliant about vote fraud is the republicans are not smart enough to catch it/match it.

Hold your hrad high. They are the ones who should be hanging theirs in shame. Deep down they know.

We all know or at least suspect what happened here. Oh it is going to happen again...2016? Count me out. Not in my lifetime will I see the Constitutional government restored.

When you have numerous voting locations in PA voting 100% for Obama and nothing is done about it? Nobody cares.

The ballot box does not matter anymore. Oh we will win some victories but it will not make any difference. The american people(not all) are like rays scurrying for their crumbs from their god the government.

Since the election I have been doing some soul searching. Don’t know what the answer is.

woulda, coulda, shoulda. We don’t know if Romney would have been a good President. He would have crossed the aisle many times. He was arrogant thinking he was going to win in a landslide. Didn’t even have a concession speech. Even Obama had one of those. What does God say about arrogance...it is certainly a sin for sure.

Thanks for your comment. I don't think Romney expected to win in a landslide but he expect to win. And voter fraud, if it happened in the magnitude that some insist it did, would not be not a case of "woulda, coulda, shoulda."

These elections are NOT certified yet. The only way to get this investigated, much less recounted or overturned, is through the Secretary of State of each of the five key states: Florida, Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. EVEN IF YOU ARE IN ANOTHER STATE you can help. But it won’t do any good to dilute our effort to challenge California or Michigan or other states. I think Obama himself is actually in a state of shock about him winning the election more so than most of us think, I am saying this based upon his mannerism during the debates, his actions prior and during the elections his plans of the mansion in Hawaii and quite a few other things.

I will say that I think interests that are very supportive of keeping Obama elected came to play, they may be the founders behind Obama in his 2008 election but I believe they did NOT spread out their plans so Obama can have a realistic plausible dependability should the election results become investigated.

The Communist Party USA, ACORN, SEIU and a few more kept Obama out of the loop while they organized the bussed in voters such as the ones wearing Chicago Bears shirts. And the Ethiopians, the loss of GOP votes to the dumpsters and the excessive higher than registered area democratic voters per precincts.

I would dearly love to see the fuel purchase receipts for all the vehicles to the polling stations named in for any Communist Party official.

I agree. Romney was acting like the presumed winner and Obama the presumed loser going into the election. Remember how Michelle was visibly comforting Obama after his lackluster election speech and the debates? How he bolted off the stage after the first debate while Romney stayed? How he fled home to Chicago to play basketball on election day while Romney was adding events? How he scheduled his “victory party” in a small and fairly inaccessable venue?

How he’s had at least two emotional breakdowns since being declared the winner?

The guy, for whatever his strengths, isn’t a good actor. At all. He really thought, IMO, he was going to lose - was probably prepped by staff for it - and is shocked that he won.

This is the opening to reveal the cockroaches that have been behind Barry all along. They left paper trails, we can trace it back to the groups that organized it.

So if obama really thought he was losing it then it begs for the question what he will do now that he does get it back?

And we will see him continue to flounder with repetitious do nothing smoke projects selling smoke and mirrors because he has no answers to problems. He is at his weakest right now, secession movement will panic him especially right now.

Romney failed to endorse existing Republican proposals -- Rick Perry's or Marco Rubio's version of the Dream Act

I stopped reading there. Any Republican columnist who thinks amnesty is the answer is part of the problem.

"He is at his weakest right now, secession movement will panic him especially right now."

I pray to God that the secessionist movement gains SIGNIFICANT momentum in this country. If any states actually SUCCEED in seceding, I will be one of the first people to MOVE to them (assuming Indiana isn't the first...though very unlikely)!!!

That’s what scares me. If he were a humble man he’d recognize the gift he’s been given, would acknowlege that the House remains solidly Republican and would strike out for the political center and compromise.

But we know he’s not a humble man. So instead I see him emboldened by his unexpected win and making a hard, hard turn to the Left and a growing autocracy.

Well said. Romney played above the fray but it was up to Rove etc (like the SwiftBoaters who sunk Kerry) to play to emotions like the DNC booing of God, Obama’s support for gay marriage, likely SC appointments etc. Instead, Rove etc sang the same tune as Romney. An superfluous xercise in futility.
