NBC Liberal Panel Freaks Out Over Sheriff Telling People to Arm Themselves

During a panel discussion on Wednesday's NBC Today, the morning show's regular liberal pundits had a panic attack over Milwaukee Sheriff David Clarke putting out a radio ad calling on local citizens to "Consider taking a certified safety course in handling a firearm so you can defend yourself." Chief medical editor Nancy Snyderman was aghast: "This is so irresponsible it's dangerous." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]

Attorney Star Jones chimed in: "I think it's so irresponsible." Snyderman accused the Sheriff of advocating "vigilantism" and ranted: "I don't hear anything in there about safety. It's, 'Arm yourself, the cops won't be there.' Terrible." Advertising executive Donny Deutsch went so far as to suggest that a police officer suggesting people exercise their Second Amendment rights should be illegal: "I'm surprised legally they were able to run that ad." Jones, the supposed legal expert on the panel, agreed: "I'm absolutely surprised that's legal for him to even say."

Jones continued: "And it's irresponsible for him to suggest to put more guns on the streets and to frighten people into thinking that that's the only way for them to protect themselves." Snyderman added: "Especially when there are buy-back programs everywhere." Deutsch melodramatically declared: "It's one of the scariest things I've ever seen." Snyderman concluded: "That's not a role of leadership."

Wrapping up the segment, Lauer suggested bringing on Sheriff Clarke as a guest: "Well, let me see if we can get David Clarke on the show." Snyderman eagerly agreed: "I think we should do that."

If the panel's harsh reaction to Clarke's comments was any indication, the Sheriff shouldn't expect a fair hearing...

We should have firearms safety classes in grade school and jr. high and shooting classes with range time in high school. Both accidents and crimes with firearms would decrease significantly.

Attention NBC panel: DENIAL is not a river in Egypt. If you will not defend your own life or that of your loved ones, then you’re on your own — sheep vs. wolves voting on who gets eaten.

“Chief medical editor Nancy Snyderman was aghast”

Thats like asking the Sheriff about whether or not vaccinations carry any risk of autism. Why does the lady sawbones opinion on crime prevention merit -any- TV time??

What does the local fracking fluid engineer think about it? How about flight attendants? How about shopkeepers?

A doctor,,, an expert on crime and self defense? lol
Patch the holes in people and shut up bit@h.

And praytell, exactly what law would make free speech this illegal? Is she REALLY a lawyer?

That is the way it used to be.

I have heard stories of high schoolers carrying their rifles on the subway in NYC. Probably in the 20’s or 30’s...

Why is it that these people never are in harms way, never any trouble where they live? I live in a good neighborhood and last week my next door neighbor had their door kicked in while they were at work and their house was robbed. I have since installed an alarm system which was suggested by the police. I am shocked I would never have expected that here. So why is it the enlightened news people never are around any trouble.

Tiger, we used to.

My junior high had a .22 range in the basement, and I’m not *that* old. Okay, I’m a little old...but not much.

Only a couple three decades ago, the NRA, JROTC, and local shooting clubs taught gun safety and marksmanship in the schools (in the Northwest).

I agree with your assertion.

K

People like Donny Deutsch have bodyguards armed to the teeth. I used to guard executives, celebrities and political figures. I’m just under 6 feet, 350 lbs and I’m one of the small guys.

"I'm surprised legally they were able to run that ad."

"I'm absolutely surprised that's legal for him to even say."

*sigh* Liberals are always getting ahead of themselves.
First you have to get rid of our 2nd amendment rights, then there's no problem at all criminalizing our 1st amendment rights.

I agree with your assertion.

Thanks, K.

Ignorance and mystery surrounding ordinary things is never positive and guns are really very ordinary things. Even for those who would decide for themselves that they have no interest in firearms the familiarity and knowledge would reduce their fear of guns while increasing respect for them. They would fare much better should they find themselves in a threatening situation involving firearms.

Education! It has amazing powers when properly applied. ;-)

Too bad they cut away quickly...we might have seen the poor stagehand that had to bring a mop to clean the floor after this crew peed their pants over the sheriff acknowledging reality.

You can count on Nancy Snyderman to come off as an idiot every time she comes out from under her rock. “I saw it on TV, so it MUST be true”. Sheeple. Damn them all.

Someone needs to remind them that the police have no legal obligation to provide protection (Warren vs. DC).
