I do not know anyone who worships a gun. They are a tool to protect ourselves and our families.
We have a tendecy to put a great deal of faith in our guns, our preps, etc, while not putting enough faith in God. BUT, striving to increase our faith in God (a thing we all must try at every single day) does not mean that we should be disarmed. To the contrary, God commands us to be armed ("If you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.") We can acknowledge that we must always try to increase our faith in God, while simultaneously using and giving thanks for the tools God has given us.
If the poster is, indeed, calling for disarmament, then s/he is grossly misinformed, and totally disconnected from reality. The old example of the person in distress crying out 'God, why didn't you help me,' and God facepalming as he points out all the tools He had provided, would apply.
Are you going to post the same thing every day?
That you have guns at the top of your list demonstrates your lack of moral backbone and strikes me as intellectually shallow.
China and Russia haven’t the capacity to invade and the army that invades Wisconsin each year would be enough men at arms to repel them.
It is a laudable personal choice to forgive someone who injured you. However it is your duty to stop that (often insane!) person from doing more harm to others. I am sure you are aware of the quote where a certain millstone is referenced. If there is a killer on the loose, just like it happened in Newtown, isn't it a prescribed duty of any capable adult to stop further harm? If a slave ship docks near your village, isn't it your duty to oppose enslavement of your children using all available avenues? If, after all other ways failed, you need guns to stop an attack, you'd better have them. (That choice could be made for you; pirates often come armed.) God may want you to be peaceful, but He does not want you to be extinct.
I am sure you are also aware of the parable of a religious man who, in a flood, drowned while waiting for God to save him because he refused help from mere humans who were sent by God? It perfectly applies here. The term "instrument of God" was not just invented yesterday. God probably would like1 such an instrument, a good person, to be at Sandy Hook, armed, and stop the killing in its tracks. This would have happened if the society was left to its natural way of development. But too many people today claim to know better than God what God wants, and they are tying the society in knots with their reasoning.
A good Christian, if he was wounded by Adam Lanza but found himself in position to shoot the killer, would do so; he would make sure that the body of Mr. Lanza is not a threat anymore. Only then he would be free to forgive the tortured soul of Mr. Lanza.
[1] This can be trivially derived from a very likely conjecture that God did not want those children to die.
“We have a tendecy to put a great deal of faith in our guns, our preps, etc, while not putting enough faith in God...”
Speak for yourself, not the rest of us - my relationship with God is individual.
When the Japanese were asked why they didn't invade the U.S. during WWII, they said it was because our people were armed. They said they'd find a weapon behind every blade of grass. Every citizen would have become a soldier.
Had our nation not had a sword, Hitler may have taken over the world. Does ROTB believe it was satan who gave us the wisdom to save ourselves - and the Jewish people? Or were we saved because we were armed, and aided by the hand of God?
That is a sick statement. Jesus did not use weapons. Christians don’t put their faith in guns. If they r called to be martyrs and suffer for their faith that is coidered a blessing direct from The Lord. The so called Christians in this country need to a cf actually read the Bible rather than being spoon fed from the pulpit.
While I would agree for the need for lukewarm Churchianity to repent and do II Chronicles 7:13-14, I do not think SPAMMING the board with the same vanity thread for two nights in a row under ‘news’ is demonstrating anything other than attention-seeking.

ROTB said “guns are a false God”
sounds like trying to disarm us
To keep the religious fervor inherent to this thread, Amen....lol.
Roger that.

Every person on earth needs, every single day, to increase his faith in God. God alone. And every person on earth, likewise, has some crutch they rely on, in which they need to decrease their faith.
It can be anything -- casual reading, natchos, swimming, something far worse such as porn. Nobody can ever have enough faith in God, and all people will, to some degree, have faith in some earthly thing.
Obviously there is nothing wrong with enjoying and making use of wholesome tools provided by God. Again, God commands us to be armed, and there is nothing wrong enjoying a wholesome pursuit like hunting and shooting, and appreciating the capacity for protection, defense, and freedom God provides for us via the keeping of arms.
But God is the end all and be all, a fact that nobody can ever fully embrace with their entire heart soul and being, although we must forever strive to.
"Let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
He didn't have to. Evil fled from him.
He did order his apostles to be armed, though. He instructed them to buy a sword.
Went shooting today.
Single action three gun cowboy. All were excellent shots and we had a great time.
Couple our proficiency with semiauto’s and we are a deadly force. My main arms are M1A’s and Kimber Tac II.
.308 and .45 delivered accurately over and over and over again is going attrit them real quick.
The Chinese and Russians wouldn’t want to be here. Besides, the ruskies can barely mange to keep a battalion supplied with vehicles that run reliably.
They’d be easy pickings coming off their vehicles as we flanked and flanked and flanked til they got dizzy and gave up.
Right.
Jesus couldn’t swim either.
