Innocent Victims of Gun Control: The bear attack

A Massachusetts man is facing charges of illegal possession of a firearm and failing to secure a weapon after using a shotgun to kill a bear that began chasing him in his own backyard while he was stocking his bird feeders.

The man in question is 76 year old Richard Ahlstrand of Auburn Massachusetts and the bear was 7 feet tall and pushing 400 pounds. But despite the reasonable fear that a 76 year old man might feel in such a situation, the local prosecutors have gone after Mr. Ahlstrand with a vengeance.

When he went out that afternoon, he took his shotgun because he had seen the bear the day before and feared that it might still be around. But local officials have used Mr. Ahlstrand’s bird feeder and the presence of the shotgun as the basis of additional charges of illegally baiting a bear and illegally killing a bear.

Apparently, the only thing that Mr. Ahlstrand could have done to satisfy local officials would have been to lay down and die. He says that “They got me set up now like I’m some kind of murderer. And then the environmental guy told me ‘You should have called me instead of shooting it.’ What was I going to do, say ‘Mister Bear would you excuse me please while I go make a phone call?’”

The ‘Innocent Victims of Gun Control‘ series of articles details the effects of gun control policies on law abiding citizens and exposes the lie that gun control is only aimed at criminals.

The Democrats continue to insist that they have no intention of going after law-abiding citizens but it is easy to see that they are lying. :(

He’s got a ready-made defense in court. The Vice-President told us all to go out and get shotguns!

In the leftist “mind” there is no right to self-defense. All rights come from the state.

In normal peoples’ minds, the right is inborn.

When will we realize that we are controlled by the communists. We have to start calling the Democrats the communist Democratic Party. Stop sugar coating the obvious and get some gonads for a change. Even Rush is coming around, slowly but I think it will not be long before he calls a communists a communists. King Obama is a communists.

IMHO, if I had seen a bear in my back yard and feared it might still be around, I would not be going out to refill my bird feeders without first making sure the bear was not still in the area.

Of course they’re lying. They’re hard communist to the core. Always were, are, and always will be. That’s why it is so important to wrest power from them whenever it is possible.
I left the Massachusetts communist conclave back in 1974. Took my guns with me and never looked back. There is nothing that could ever drag me back there. I’d starve before I’d go back there.

So that explains how he happened to have a shotgun along when going out to charge the bird feeders!
I guess the government believes he was using himself as bear bait.

Which would make him crazy, ballsey... or both!

Some people are so stupid they deserve jail.

How did the Police, envio-nazis’, prosecutor, etc. find out
that he shot the bear?

That is why he will be charged with 1st degree, premeditated murder.

Obviously putting out the bird seed was done to lure the bear into his cunning plan.

Of course if he STOPPED putting out the bird seed, another group is standing in the wings to charge him with attempted murder by starvation, because he didn’t go out the charge the birdfeeders because the bear was there.

Would have made and interesting 911 call:

“Would you send a constable over to 911 Smith St, there is a bear in the vicinity and I want to charge my bird feeders”

I am wondering WHY he went out and refilled the feeder after he had seen the bear in his yard.

This is why they tell you here in NH to take down your birdfeeders this time of year.

It is only common sense. Do not feed the bears.

This is not out in the Berkshires in western Mass. Auburn, MA is a suburb of Worchester not to far from the CT border.
There are not too many places in this town(pop. 15K)that you would be less than 500’ from another residence.

I am just playing devils advocate.
