The Good Guys Are Not Coming To Save Us

A lot of Americans know that the US government is out of control. Anyone who has cared enough to study the US Constitution even a little knows this. Still, very few of these people are taking any significant action, and largely because of one error: They are waiting for “the good guys” to show up and fix things.

Washington is an unfettered beast. The system will NOT fix itself.

Conservatives are not in power - not enough holding political office in D.C. How would you propose to do the things you suggest? Ask Reid and obama to do it...

I too attended the 9/12 march in DC and the Beck rally on the national mall. Your suggestion has great merit.

Sorry to keep repeating it, but the reason the bureaucracy is expanding is because, business is contracting.

We are sending businesses overseas.

That means, we are decreasing the number of American jobs.

Since the number of American jobs is shrinking, bureaucracy (and welfare) are expanding. DEMOCRATS ARE WINNING.

Meanwhile the GOP is sleeping, thinking this is just fine.

It is not fine.

BRING BACK AMERICAN FACTORIES.

Bring back American jobs. Now.

IMHO, one way to begin neutralizing a resistant bureaucracy would be to quickly make a conspicuous example of one of them. Ruthlessly cut it down to size and redirect their focus. Bureaucrats value job security above all else. They will comply once the consequences of resistance are demonstrated. Not unlike what Reagan did when he replaced the air traffic controllers. That was a very effective act.

In all societies, the people will be only as good as what they are taught in their education systems.

It has been the communists dream for over fifty years and they finally achieved their goal.

Underneath the warm helping hand of this government lies the cold, iron fist of communism.

The people need to accept that this will not fix itself, and sadly, that we (anyone) can’t fix it either.

Accept that reality and channel your energies into protecting your loved ones from what is coming. Stop denying that anything can or will be done to change the inevitable.

No, but I think it is important we know our principles, and not let the collectivists dominate the discussion by letting them use the emotional argument without opposition from the rational.

McCaine is an example of our problem.

The bureaucracy has to be neutralized or checked by the Great Conquering Hero.

I hope someone has a plan. I don’t see how it can be done.

Agreed. A key aspect of getting out of "this mess" is that large numbers of Federal bureacrats (i.e. sadistic parasites) will have to be fired and have their pensions revoked.

That can only happen by way of a total and absolute economic collapse.

I don't see the collapse happening. I believe the most likely path is the one that the evil D.C. machine is attempting -- a slow decline into a third world sewer.

Obama and his ilk want this Republic destroyed. I am afraid they are succeeding.

I think there was a significant portion of our media just, (and irrationally) in love with being part of something historically significant - electing a black president.

For them all logic was swept out the door. To this day nobody in either party, dares criticize Obama.

That changes in 3 1/2 years. That is my point.

Sad to say, you're right. As soon as someone makes a valid point, out comes The Race Card and after that is played, facts are irrelevant. We need someone on power with the courage to just say, "shove it" when it is played. BTW, I'm with you, bring jobs back here.

Seems to me these are tools we have left in the box.

I'd add in jury nullification. If I was picked for a jury where someone is charged with an illegal firearm but he only used it to defend himself, family, whatever, I would vote "not guilty." I figure if I can convince the ones that are against me to vote my way, he gets off scot free. If not, at least I can get him a hung jury and hopefully he will go free if the hassle of a re-trial is too much.

Let's face it for real freedom loving Americans there is no longer a party for us, there are two parties one the 'demonrats' who love and want BIG GOVERNMENT, the bigger the better even if it becomes so big it bankrupts us.

And then we have the Republicans who except for a small handful deep down love big government just as much as the 'demonrats' do. How many times have we said NO to amnesty and are told well we will do it this one last time and then we promise to bolt the door and get it under control so this won't happen again and have they ever done that?

How many times has a new big tax proposal they should have opposed become a small tax and they come running to us with claims of victory? And yet its still more taxes for more government, how many such bitter victories can we afford?

They coming to us saying can't you see your 30 rounds magazines scare the children and it would drop crime, stop terrorism, prevent tooth decay, stop dogs from braking at night, so let's say we limit you to twenty-nine round magazines as a show of good faith? and then it's 28, then 27, then 26........and you know where it ends.

For every honest and forthright Republican Senator or Congressman who truly wants and does what is best for America I give you one who will sellout as fast as he can to get that second, third, fourth term.

So what we really have is a choice between BIG government right now and a slow easing of one into place.

Big Government is the life blood of these people the bigger the government the more 'pork' there is that can be spread around, which in turns brings them more power. The bigger the government the bigger the 'power pie' is and their piece gets just a little bit bigger.

The days of the American Government doing what the American people truly want are numbered. The days of our Congress 'critters' truly being servants of the people are all but over.

The days ahead I fear have become times that George Orwell described 'as a time of universal deceit, wherein telling the truth will be considered a revolutionary act' or as the bible says a time 'in which men call evil good, and good evil'.

Is it to late I do not know. Can America be saved I do not know, I hope so and I pray daily that it can as I have grandchildren and want them to grow up in a free land full of opportunities.

But my fear is that we have become a 'Narco Republic', but instead of cocaine, opium, meth and so forth the drugs that are being sold here is money and security and the coin of the realm is our very freedoms.

Rush Limbaugh summed it up the other day in what Judge Andrew Napolitano said were words worth of those of our Founders:

RUSH: You know what Ben Franklin said about this. This is one of my all-time favorite quotes. Benjamin Franklin once said: "People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both." Benjamin Franklin, and that's exactly right. People willing to trade their freedom for temporary security deserve neither and will lose both. People willing to trade their freedom for economic security, people willing to give up their dreams, people willing to trade the hard rigors of success in exchange for a modicum of existence will never know success, and their modicum sustenance hangs by a thread based on the good intentions of a government.

In other words, if you give up the right to provide for yourself, if you trade the hard work and the ambition of success, attempted success, for the guarantees of a government that you'll always have a phone, cable TV, and McNuggets, you're gonna be disappointed over both decisions. And, by the way, when you trade your freedom for temporary security, when you're not in charge of your security, when you have no control over your security, when you have no control over your economic circumstances, what kind of a thin thread are you hanging by? You're depending on the performance of other people that don't even know you. Politicians in a distant capital who, on a whim, could cancel whatever program that you depend on. Maybe cancel the McNuggets program, cancel the Obama phone program. It may happen. What if that's all you know? You depend on Santa Claus instead of yourself.

It's exactly right and look how many are hooked on what the Big Government 'Pushers' dealout.

And just like the war on real drugs the pushers and the users are winning this war as well.

However, I am also a realist. I do not see a way out.

Pardon the evaluation on my part, but you sound more like a pessimist than a 'realist'. Not that I don't understand your mindset. There's little in evidence to be hopeful about at this time.

However, part of being a realist, is understanding that, yes, "it can happen here." As someone upthread suggested, a major dislocation such as an economic crash could be the thing that finally triggers a reset in this country.

People are going to have to feel a certain degree of pain, up close and personal, to get them to do what's necessary to stop all this. Given the forward momentum of the Commie's agenda, it's all but certain that they will.

If the Va House of Delegates has a referendum for secession, I’ll vote for it. Barring that I have little hope.

Well my glass is 1/3 full. Actually I am very optimistic about myself and close family. We are all doing fine, emotionally, financially, spiritually. Everyone is healthy. I am somewhat confident we will be able to survive the comming tribulations as best as can be expected.

I live in Florida, before that, Louisiana. My Son departed New Orleans well before Katrina hit. It would have been foolish to be “optimistic” about Katrina changing course, or God saving New Orleans, etc. If you can’t see a hurricane bearing down on you, you will suffer.

America is entering the “Perfect Storm”. Open your eyes and protect yourself best you can so we can continue this discussion when it blows over. I am optimistic in the long run. It’s the short run that sucks big time.

...the vast majority of us sit at home safely and DO NOTHING but type ... And that is the problem.
Sitting behind a computer and spreading the word helps - helps a lot ... BUT it is FAR FROM A SOLUTUION ...
Unless we get off our chairs - out of the offices and on to the streets - NOTHING will happen.

It's true, my friend. We conservatives need to recognize that the rot that is eating the flesh out of our nation, is not going to be stopped by blogging, posting to forums, emailing members of Congress, angry phone calls to their offices, withdrawing financial support from the RNC, listening to talk radio, or any number of things that we're currently doing.

The same goes for holding peaceful Tea Party rallies in the parks, with speeches, signs, and flags. The hard left is undaunted and unmoved by all of those things.

The current dynamic requires a stronger response on our part, if we're to get their attention, and there's precious little time left in which to act. Our side needs to step up the character of our response to the tyranny. It needs to go to the next level, which is civil disobedience.

Ideally, we'd emulate successful movements of the past, which means large scale protests that DO NOT END UNTIL THE BALL IS MOVED DOWN FIELD.

You wonder why, with all this angst and anger, that such protests aren't already occurring across the nation. I suppose it takes one person to step forward and stop traffic, to get the ball rolling.

Our window of opportunity to stage such effective protests is closing fast. If we squander it, we'll be left with but one last resort, and few of us want it to come to that.

Tax Revolt. Or violent revolt. I prefer tax revolt. Seems to me these are tools we have left in the box.

There is one more step before we reach either of those two scenarios, and that is civil disobedience on a massive scale.

I'm talking huge protests, like they did in the civil rights era. Not violence, mind you, but challenges to the uncivil authority which causes them to react against us in such a way that it completely changes public opinion and the current dynamic.

The people simply must stand up and exercise their God-given right to object, or we'll be left with few options - none of them pretty or comfortable for anyone.
