Okay, my last novel, "Castigo Cay," is in the Kindle store on a free run today through Wednesday. It's a departure from the characters and situations in the Enemies Trilogy, but it's still a look forward at a crumbling, semi-dystopian America. The main character is Dan Kilmer, a thirty-something former Marine scout/sniper who is trying to live as a free man in a world that is anything but free.
This is the last novel I have written. Over the past six weeks I've put all of my titles on Kindle free runs. I have nothing left in the inventory, and in a short while I'm going to drop off the net and go sailing. This also means that if anybody wants a signed, printed book, they shouldn't wait too long.

Dan Kilmer is a former Marine sniper in his early thirties. He returned home from military service in the Middle East and gave college a try, but his combat experiences prevented him from fitting into campus life. In a South Florida boatyard, his uncle was attempting to refurbish an old cargo schooner, and Dan left college to help him finish the flagging project. After two years of work but before the sixty-foot boat was relaunched, his uncle fell from a scaffold and died. While still in his twenties, Dan inherited the schooner Rebel Yell. Soon after, he left the United States to embark on a series of voyages, mostly in pursuit of beautiful women and good times. While he was away from America, new federal taxes were imposed on luxury property, including privately owned yachts. Dan cannot pay these or other new taxes, so he cant return to the States without risking confiscation of his schooner. Instead he must always fly under official radar and earn a living by his wits while staying one step ahead of the IRS and other government agencies. He must navigate the reefs of government control while always searching for a way to make money without the permission of the local authorities. This usually requires some type of shady dealing, subterfuge, and stealing from thieves as Dan moves from port to port. A shifting cast of crew members inhabits Rebel Yell, but the novel is about Dan Kilmer and his quest to live as a free man in an increasingly unfree world.

Perhaps I’m guilty of being overly correct but I think you meant to say that your “latest novel” is available unless you intend to conclude your writing career with this novel.

My husband started your trilogy and found it (of course) very believable....(so did I).
..even though you wrote the first one several years ago, it is ALL playing out pretty much as you foretold......(to our deep sadness)
Wish we could all go sailing with you and not have to witness our Republic being disgraced even more....
..save, the good Lord willing, she is pulled away from the edge of the maelstrom before it's too late!.
Fair winds and calm seas to you.

I want to say thank you for making your books available free on Kindle. I have picked up the entire trilogy. I have to admit I am still working my way through the first. Not that it is poorly written or hard to read, far from it! For the most part my snail’s pace is my fault - just too busy to grab more than a few minutes here and there to read it. But part of it I blame on you - I start reading and get angry at the characters. I guess that’s a good thing right? Shows you’ve written believable characters the reader can connect with, even if you want to throttle some of them.

Thanks. I need some time on the ocean.
I'm sorry my next novel is not near completion; maybe next year.

Matt,
First, thank you very much. I enjoyed the final installment of the Enemies trilogy, the only one of yours I've read thus far. I'll work my way through others I'm sure.
Second, since you're using Kindle as a platform, I wish you (or anyone like you) would write a User's Insights into Kindle Publishing. I'm not thinking of a "How to" work -- Kindle does a fairly good job of talking you through the details of getting a title up on their list. Rather, I'm thinking of the sorts of insights (warnings, alerts to strategies) that come with a seasoned user's experience. If you already know of such a work, I'd be so grateful to learn of it from you.
Meanwhile, thanks again for the hours of entertainment!

Travis,
I have all your books in hardcover, well softcover, and I was taking this opportunity to pick them on for my kindle. Many thanks.
However, I accidentally clicked the wrong button and bought another softcover which came in the mail last week. Needless to say it will be going out as a gift, and since it is the third I will be buying the first two to keep it company and complete the gift.
I am sure you had this all gamed out prior to making your most generous offer! :)

I’m terrible at my kindle uploading. For example, I don’t have embedded pictures or interactive/linked tables of contents.
