Wonkbook: This quote shows why Obamacare is here to stay (Wisconsin's Ron Johnson surrenders)
The Washington Post's Wonkblog ^ | December 27, 2013 | Ezra Klein and Evan Soltas

Posted on 12/27/2013 2:20:02 PM PST by 2ndDivisionVet

Sen. Ron Johnson, a tea party Republican from Wisconsin, knows that the politics of Obamacare are changing.

“It’s no longer just a piece of paper that you can repeal and it goes away,” he told the New York Times. “There’s something there. We have to recognize that reality. We have to deal with the people that are currently covered under Obamacare.”

Jan. 1 isn't likely to be a glitch-free day for Obamacare. There will be people who try to use their insurance and find they can't, or it's not the plan they meant to buy, or it's not a plan that covers their doctor. But those problems will, eventually, be solved. And their wake will be a game-changing reality: At least 2 million people will have health insurance through Obamacare's exchanges, and more than 4 million people will have health insurance through the law's Medicaid expansion.

The GOP's campaign against Obamacare has been most effective when Republicans could claim, reasonably or not, that the law was taking something away from people: Canceling their plans, or penalizing them for going without insurance, or changing their doctor. But by the end of March, it's likely that at least 8 million to 10 million people will be getting insurance through Obamacare.....

Wow, What I don’t get is that their are still people on this board who actually thought the R”s would take care of this law. This law is the ultimate power over the people. we ae in trouble folks!

when that congress critter was caught on tape saying, “ we finally have control over the people”. He was not kidding. At the same time, this idiot says that we can’t stop it now and should fix it was the plan all along. Neither party is going to give up this power. Outside of an armed conflict, we are screwed.

And please tell this azzhat that we guess it was ok to kick everyone off their plans for this mess but not ok for opening up boarders for free trade of insurance.

Yes, you are correct. Here’s what matters, though: We have the farmers, the ranchers, the veterans, the outdoorsmen, the hunters, the small business owners, the gun manufacturers, the energy companies and their workers, the defense companies, the preppers, the rednecks & crackers, most of law enforcement (especially suburban and rural) and a lot of other categories.

Ron Johnson joins Scott Walker, Paul Ryan, Deniece Priebus, as part of the Wisconsin Liberal RINO contingnent.

They must be all related to Battling Bob LaFollette

Zero and the 0bamunists foist this catastrophe on the American people. Insurance companies (kinda) complied by developing new ‘products’ that meet the FedGov ‘guidelines’. People managed to navigate the ridiculous, unsecure website, or called up the helpless desk and agreed to purchase these new insurance ‘products’. It’s ugly, but it happened.
And, now folks are saying it can’t be undone? I call BS on THAT one. There is absolutely NOTHING to keep the insurance companies from amending their services/products to recognize a free market plan, again.

Just repeal the damn thing. Pass legislation to enable sales of coverages across state lines, and allow for catastrophic plans that can accommodate prior conditions, etc. The companies that seek to succeed will find a way to meet the market needs/requirements.

It’s not impossible. But, it is unlikely. America has never repealed an anti-Constitutional social(ist) pogrom like this in its history.

I’ve come to believe that is where we’re headed. Try rebellion first but if that won’t do it the the other “R” word needs to come swiftly.

This POS will be “repealed” when it morphs into single-payer. And the majority of GOP corporatists in DC will go right along with it.

Because after all, it’s NEVER the right time to fight for anything to the GOPe.

The time is overdue for a “first time”. No law should be permanent of fixed. Those who buy into bad laws deserve little consideration when the law is thrown out.

Well.....Obama didn’t have any problem canceling millions of plans to get this monster going and now Johnson is worried about the few people who are actually covered under zerocare??

If Obama had the same philosophy that Johnson does we wouldn’t be dealing this this catastrophic disaster. Sheesh!

SC_Pete :"The system corrupts them faster than we can vote them out."

So true !!
What we need is a RECALL option for the Federal Govt. representatives in order to make them accountable to the constituents who elected them.
Once every two /four / six years is not enough !
As soon as they get into Washington , they are instructed to spend 8 hours a day organizing funding for the party, and the rest on legislation.
The Country should come first , the constituents should come second and the political party should be the last consideration.
The problem is that the Political party conducts the initual orientation , and they are tainted by greed , power , and blinded by their own personal arrogance.

The next two elections are meaningless. The election that mattered the most was ‘08. It’s over, they’ve won. The only question now is how long it will take them to completely implement the takeover legislatively.

Demographically it’s already a done deal.

Klein talks about repeal of the mandate, repeal of excise tax, having more bare bones policies and expansion of HSAs. Sounds like repeal measures to me.

Why do they have to deal with the few people who have Obamacare? The Democrats didn’t mind 6 million (so far) losing their insurance to advance their agenda. This is why the Republicans are losers.
