Why is the Obama Administration Putting Government Monitors in Newsrooms?

The Obama Administration’s Federal Communication Commission (FCC) is poised to place government monitors in newsrooms across the country in an absurdly draconian attempt to intimidate and control the media.

Before you dismiss this assertion as utterly preposterous (we all know how that turned out when the Tea Party complained that it was being targeted by the IRS), this bombshell of an accusation comes from an actual FCC Commissioner.

FCC Commissioner Ajit Pai reveals a brand new Obama Administration program that he fears could be used in “pressuring media organizations into covering certain stories.”

As Commissioner Pai explains in the Wall Street Journal:

My question is who’s going to stop it? My first guess is no one.

Ohio Ping

Imagine a government monitor telling Fox News it needed to cover stories in the same way as MSNBC or Al Jazeera. Imagine an Obama Administration official walking in to the editorial board of the Wall Street Journal and telling it that the American public would be better served if it is stopped reporting on the IRS scandal or maybe that reporting on ObamaCare “glitches” is driving down enrollment.

” - - - Hitler allowed private ownership to continue, - - - “

Obama allowed private ownership of Medical Insurance companies to continue, so that he could use them to destroy themselves when the Federal Government refuses to bail them out of bankruptcy, and thus “forcing” Obama to Nationalize them.

The media does a fine job of sticking to the government script.

Apparently the President doesn't think so.

The FCC Commissioner is Ajit Pai.

There’s a good strong American name - right up there with Smith, Jones, Bradley, etc.

I believe the Soviet party called these people commissars.

That's exactly what this is, although it surprises me that anyone in the 0bama administration thinks the media could be any more craven and fawning than they already are. That's what Klein's Journ-O-List was all about - not a propaganda organ, you understand, merely a means of "coordination".

They don't even try to hide it these days.

The FCC has officially become the ministry of propaganda under the obama regime, make no mistake about it. Imagine a ministry commissar in every single studio and newsroom, with the final say over any and all content broadcast or published, with violators being fined or imprisoned for dissent. Control the information and you control the message, and ultimately the people. Obama is upping his game, because time is short, and he needs to cement his power within the next two years. He meant exactly what he said in that quip to Putin when he said this would be his last election, and would have more flexibility.

I thought about this and really feel that Hillary won’t let that happen no matter what. She has the dirt on him. He wouldn’t dare. She would have to have an unfortunate accident or illness before that would happen.

“Under the Research Design, the CIN Study would contain two major sections: (1) a “Media Market Census,” consisting of a content analysis of news and information available in six as-yet-unchosen local markets of varying sizes, accompanied by interviews with the newsmedia personnel who produced the codified content; and (2) a consumer survey in the same six markets, intended to “measure community members’ actual and perceived critical information needs.”

The objective is “[t]o develop policies that ensure that the critical informational needs of Americans are being met and that would advance the goal of diversity, including the promotion of greater women and minority participation in media….”

http://www.scribd.com/doc/180125322/Fcc-Wheeler-2

“It is difficult to discern precisely how the eight CIN categories–
emergency, health, education, transportation, economic opportunities, environment, civic information, and political information were developed. At points within the relevant documents, the FCC states that the categories were developed by researchers, while the Research Design states that they were “identified” by the FCC.

Even the related Literature Review is murky on this point. The eight categories seem to be organizational labels created by the Literature Review authors rather than categories directly derived from earlier studies.

NAB is concerned that the CIN categories apparently were crafted with little or no input from consumers themselves.”

It gets better...........

“The final component of the proposed content analysis is both puzzling and troubling. The Research Design calls for the FCC’s agents to couple a fairly traditional review of media content with an unusual questioning of the journalists who produced that content. Dubbed a “Qualitative Analysis of Media Providers,” this effort would involve in-depth interviews” of reporters, editors, producers, and higher-level managers and would seek to ascertain the process by which stories and are selected, station priorities (for content, production quality, and populations served), perceived station bias, perceived percent of news dedicated to each of the eight CINs, and perceived responsiveness to underserved populations.”

The plan for the Qualitative Analysis also calls for the FCC-commissioned researchers to seek personal demographic data about newsroom staffers and higher-level managers

The bigger question is: Why would the Obama administration feel a need to monitor, intimidate media outlets that have been lapdogs for him for years?

With my conspiracy-theory hat firmly in-place; here's a reason why:
Because government is getting ready to do something so overboard, so heavy-handed that even the news-casters might feel pangs of conscience.

What if they're getting ready for a false-flag terrorist-event: "rebels"/gun-clingers, radical islam, it hardly matters. Probably in some decent-sized (but not huge city).
They move in, snap down controls on communications and travel, for security. They go through, hunting terrorists (which give reason for them to institute a "controlled weapons zone" [one where only government agents have weapons]) and any resistance attrition gives them excuse to increase security &mdsah; they wouldn't have to go house-to-house and confiscate guns, they'd just have to get a few from differing locations every so often. When someone makes a threatening/surprising move and sparks a firefight it's evidence that they're on the terrorists's trail. — they could also cut power, forcing people to go to a security arena if they want food (and that'll be a secure place, where mere civilians won't be allowed weapons).

From the outside, they'll portray it as a necessary response to these deep-seated terrorist cells, probably claiming the restricted travel is to keep deep-cover sleeper-cell agents contained. Once that city has been normalized, they can move on to another.

They have the NSA's meta-data scooper and analysis-engines going — it would be stupid to think that they have not already built a network-map of people who would be prominent leaders in a domestic uprising. They would want to crush those few people first, employing a rapid-dominance strategy before their enemies realized that they were engaged.

Imagine, also, that thy do this in-conjunction with an amnesty bill passed in secret… some would be pissed off to do something about it, but the majority of Americans would have no idea: they could then use the actions in response to this secret-amnesty to try to push the narrative that it's terrorists. (See, we told you that patriots and returning vets were potential terrorists!)

[/conspiracy-theory]

The government likes to make the victims of its lawlessness into "the bad-guy" to justify its use of force (see Ruby Ridge and Waco, TX).
