Have your conservative views cost you friends? This irony is probably lost on those fools...

About a month and a half ago from this writing I actually had a friend give an me admonition that defending my conservative views (they said "Republican," which shows you how much they actually know about politics) would cost me lots of friends on my social networks.

I basically responded with what the graphic below says. Their response?...Crickets.

I don’t have any liberal friends and do not associate with liberals other than to scoff at them

Amen brother. I don't have any liberal friends either, and never will.

My sister-in-law is to the left of Stalin and I have no redeeming value according to her. She wants free health care for everyone and wants the government to pay everyone a salary per mth.. She says the only problem we have is global warming and when food can't be grown in Texas and other states, she will go to California where food will always be grown. She has not one can of food in her house as she only eats raw “fresh” food.

With all this healthy lifestyle, she now has TB, doctors don't know how she got it (could it be that “fresh” food from some foreign country?), and it's the kind that isn't transmitted person to person. She is on several different antibiotics a day for a year, then to be reevaluated. I'm not sure she will be alive a year from now as she is susceptible to any germ that comes along. When your lungs don't want to work, it's a big problem.

It’s happened to me, more than once. I live in true blue Puget Sound (Seattle/Tacoma) and so know a LOT of libs. Doesn’t keep me from spouting my opinion. Have had some LIVELY conversations on facebook. Some people can’t handle it and unfriend, others respect my opinion and we have interesting discussions. I have friends that are VERY conservative/religious, and others that are vegan/animal rescue, so it gets interesting, to say the least.

I have had girlfriends dump me

I dumped one myself, when I found out she was a democrat.

The ones I know who are not jerks just stopped talking about politics around me when they realized I would not agree with them, and that I would articulate my point and call them out for cutting me off.

What I have found is that nearly all of my FB friends, even my conservative friends, don’t want to see ANYTHING “political”.

People just want to go their merry way without thinking and talking about how bad things are. They would rather ignore it. It’s very disappointing. Maybe they’ll care once they’ve lost everything?

I have liberal relatives. I have learned that it is impossible to debate a liberal. If I ask them a question about economics and they cannot answer the question they will always yell at me and call me names. The globull warming liberals are the worst. One of them told me that the arctic ice cap is melting and the oceans will rise. I asked him if a container of ice will overflow when the ice melts. I asked who do I believe, Al Gore or Archimedes. He called me an a**&$@e After the ad hominem attacks they always go to the straw man arguments, like “you would let the children starve to death, wouldn’t you!” I still remember back in the 80’s when my nephew with the Ivy League education told me what a great guy Robert Mugabe is. You can choose your friends, but you cannot choose your relatives. I choose not to associate with liberals, especially when they are drinking.

Many moons ago when I was single I would not ask a liberal girl for a second date. I thought then, and still do, that it was a total waste of my time. I found a great woman who is as conservative as I and we just celebrated our 32nd anniversary two weeks ago.

I may have fallen in love with her when I took her shooting for a date and she said she liked 45 ACP’s. She still carries a 45 and so do I.

Good for you. By the way, I am glad you never had to launch one of those Titans.

Most of my contact is some Facebook posting. Usually once added, almost never hear from.

My sister-in-law is a School Administrator type in Massachusetts. During my Christmas visit, my nephew wanted to know what “Animal Farm” was about because he had to read it for school.

I gave him a basic plot outline in two minutes, then was going to give him a primer on what the book is really ‘about’. But my sis-in-law said that I had to stop. To her mind, a conservative couldn’t possibly have a valid opinion about the book.

Of all the BS I had to listen to in my brother’s house, that infuriated me the most.

If you meant to say “It has happened to me,” you were right the first time. “It’s” is the proper contraction for “it has.” “Its” is possessive.

Like the Bible says, kill ‘em with kindness, and pray for them. They hate that!

Along that line, there's a great scene in the British sit-com (poor quality clip) when Onslow finds out too late: "Keeping up with Appearances"

Couldn't have said it better myself.

When I speak to the Chamber of Commerce types, I always get that "deer in the headlights" look when I ask them who will buy their stuff if they succeed in their goal of turning America into another third world country.

I don’t inquire into the politics of my neighbors, since I mostly know them through their kids and dogs. On occasion I’m asked to pull a vehicle out of a sand bog or the arroyo, or weld some piece of equipment for them. One neighbor who we tow fairly often comes over to help when he sees us working on a big project, but he doesn’t speak English, and I don’t speak Spanish, so politics don’t get discussed.

I also don’t speak liberal, or tolerate it being spoken on my property.
