A new report from the Medical University of Graz in Austria presents evidence that the “vegan” lifestyle is actually dangerous. The study found that purely vegetarian diets lead to poorer general health and a diminished quality of life marred by both physical and mental problems.

In spite of the vegan tendency to smoke less if at all; have higher socioeconomic achievement, eat less fat, get more exercise, eat more veggies and fruits and drink less alcohol they do not have a better life style by objective standards.

Vegans suffer from higher rates of cancer; are twice as likely to be plagued with...

"That seems contrary to what we know about blood sugar, which is fat and protein help lower blood sugar. Unless they are vegan that isn’t eating fruit or grain, which would be torturously restrictive."

That's right. Vegetables are carbohydrates, and fructose (fruit sugar) spikes blood sugar. Meat, however, is carb free.

As for fat, any nutritionist will tell you that fat slows the absorption of carbs into the bloodstream, and thus slows blood sugar spikes. My mom was diabetic; I know.

I have followed the LBK culture for years, first farmers so to speak. I found what they found at Hexrheim interesting.

Will Post a link for all you vegans out there.

The first farmers diet, Neolithic. Works out to one a day for 50 years.

“patients with really low cholesterol levels versus omnivours and patients with elevated cholesterol levels”

I noticed that too. My cholesterol was 123 when I was diagnosed with cancer. I started noticing that a lot of the chemo patients had low cholesterols. That was over 20 years ago and I have never seen any research done on it.

My next door neighbors went vegan, and I enjoy grilling meat upwind from them.

Experiments, which I think were conducted scientifically, showed that the grilled meat which is most tempting to vegans is pork ribs. That is the 'gateway meat' back to humanity for many vegans.

Have fun this summer at the grill! Who knows, you may save their lives in the process.

You do realize that whole foods can be a good source of healthy meats, don’t you? I shop whole foods and I am no vegan.

If you’ve ever known one you already knew all of this. They can’t eat enough to meet all their dietary needs.

I let the cows eat the vegetables and then I eat them, does that make me a vegetarian?

Sorry I don’t have a source or link to that study, but I read it sometime in the past year or so.

Parents who encourage or force their kids to go vegan: that is CHILD ABUSE. Vegegarian is one thing. Kids can thrive. Vegan is a whole 'nother ballgame. Those poor little things have gray circles under their eyes. They're wan. Often listless.

I want to slap those parents.

I want to send them to an island where everybody gets a pony. And leave them there. That's what they want in how they eat -- to not have to be "mean" to animals by eating meat and dairy -- and they will throw temper tantrums to have their pony, at the expense of their own children. Stupid, silly, self-absorbed morons. Nutrituion is like gravity. You don't get to choose.

I have wondered about that too. My mother had cholesterol through the roof and she never had any heart problems or cancer but she did get Alzheimer’s in her 80s. My MIL is 91 she has had high cholesterol since they first started testing and has had no health problems but also has gotten dementia/Alzheimer’s since around 87 yrs old.
